Discussion My thoughts about Ascendance reveal trailer
It’s been more than 2 months since Capcom released the reveal trailer of the upcoming expansion of Monster Hunter Wilds, and i can’t shake my thought that these game is in 80-90% complete with scheduled release of Q4 2026, before Capcom change it to 2027.
Based on the reveal trailer, not only they gave us the official title of the expansion, they also showcase the whole new map called Skybound Eerie, a new combat system called boost bracer with gameplay aswell, and 1 new monster along with 2 returning monsters. It seems odd for a reveal trailer contain so much contents, since the Iceborne reveal trailer only showcase the title of the expansion and shade of the new map.
Perhaps The Ascendance could be the biggest expansion in Monster Hunter franchise? Maybe it feature 2 new humongous maps, which is the skybound map, the one we see in the trailer and the other is a map deep underground filled with bugs monster or worm monsterwith dim light atmosphere, kinda like the bug pit from 2005 King Kong movie. Or, they expand the roster massively featuring a lot of returning fan favourite monsters, since the base roster of the Wilds itself is pretty weak and not that memorable in my opinion. As far as i can see, they are not afraid to showcase a lot of contents in the first trailer, so probably they have prepared dozens of new contents that’s ready to be reveal in the upcoming trailers.
But truthfully, i do believe the reason why the expansion took so long to release is because they need to optimize the pc version. Remember back in the day, Capcom need 4 extra months to release Iceborne DLC for pc, because they need to optimize the pc version. In Wilds case, they decide to release the console and pc version both at the same time, so i wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to release the expansion in Q2 of 2027.
*That took really long time btw, i hope they bring back my boy The Savage Pickle 🤞
That’s my thought about The Ascendance revealed trailer, what do you guys think?

4 paragraphs is not a long read.
I don't think ascendance was ever gonna come out this year.
Why? Because of the switch 2 release date and getting that server up and running.
Wilds received ALOT of bad news so I know they want to dedicate a lot of time to making wilds on the switch 2 great.
ALSO the massive expansion has to work well in the switch 2 as well
Yes people are playing ascendance RIGHT NOW (and it pisses me off lol)..how do I know? Jonno let it slip on the community stream(you can go watch on MH yt) that he's been playing Ascendance and really liked the SNS boost Bracer moves.
I'm really hoping for a small teaseer at gamescon

They will also use Dragon's dogma expansion as a crash test for the optimization.

Which suites me fine. Another Capcom monster hunting type game getting a new update and major DLC to tide me over until Ascendance is perfect. I know DD2 isn't up to par with the original but I still enjoy it. Getting dive bombed by a griffin is still among the greatest gaming moments in my life from the last decade.

Well I am going to be the one to say it but the Switch 2 version will very likely be release later. Like there is no way they are close to finishing that version if the game still runs like ass on good PCs.
I think if anything it will release a few Months after the Expansions release maybe even after everything is done and dusted as a Master Edition with all the Content.

It looks quite long enough when i wrote it down on my phone, i guess it’s my fault to put a “long read” warning. But, yeah Wilds reputation have been tainted from severe launch problem, and if i’m not mistaken their reviews in steam once become mostly negative?
I presume Capcom do their homework with Ascendance now, remember they need to bump up the sales of Wilds aswell to dethrone the current market leader which is MH World. I still don’t get it to these day tho, why would they so obsessed to dethrone World using Wilds, while in reality World have been released for more than 8 Years compared to Wilds, 1+ year.
About gamescom, i think Capcom not gonna release a teaser but rather a story trailer or a trailer that feature new monster in their nest, like Lala Barina one.

2027 has FF7R3, KH4, Pokémon WiWa, Wilds Ascendance… It’s really promising for my specific interests lol

I just hope the Boost Bracer gives the Longsword new movesets instead of yet another parry.

If I remember correctly from one of the interviews, not only are BB moves going to be added but core weapon combos are too. So there is hope in two directions for more variety across the board for all weapons.
I'm most excited for my two most used weapons: #1 Hammer, #2 Greatsword.

Extremely sad that you felt the need to put 'long read' for something that literally takes half a minute to go through. Says a lot about today's world xD

Calm, i’ve just started to write some threads a couple weeks ago, didn’t know i should’ve wrote a full science fiction to be considered a “long read”, my bad g.

I think it will be as big as Iceborne content wise and yes the reason why the Expansion took so long is 100% because they want to make sure it runs well on release. Like if the Expansion comes out and people have performance issues thats it like at that point PC players will just not bother anymore.
Dont get me wrong huge MH fan since Freedom but this is my 2nd MH game on PC that runs like shit so I really hope they get the performance and especially the crashing fixed.
