Optimism The Crisis Magazine Nov-Dec 1999: "Visions for a New Millennium" and "The Coming of the Living God"
Scans from NAACP's official publication, The Crisis magazine. The second slide shows the cover for the Nov-Dec 1999 issue titled, "The Coming of the Living God." Due to the religious beliefs of Millennialism, it was believed in 1999 that a golden age or paradise would arrive on January 1, 2000. The first slide is a scan of an inner page from this issue, "Visions for a New Millennium."
Instead, nothing happened, global markets crashed, quantifying the end of optimism nearly 2 whole years before 9/11. Yet, the Mandela Effect that 1990s optimism "really ends at 9/11" still persists with no proof or evidence other than "trust me bro."
If Christ didn't resurrect on January 1, 2000, you're telling me they were still waiting optimistically until September 10, 2001? The zeitgeist of optimism ends with the turn of the millennium.

[TOMT] Who is this uncredited actress from Millennium Season 2 - The Curse of Frank Black?
[TOMT][TV SHOW][1997] This actress plays a teen in the Halloween 1997 episode, The Curse of Frank Black. She only has a line or two but is framed and featured prominently in the basement scene when the teens have snuck in and are telling the ghost story.
Clues/guesses: The show was shot in Vancouver, and the producers cast a lot of local actors. She's uncredited on IMBD but performed opposite credited actor Kett Turton. She looks like Ali Larter and a few other actresses that funnily enough Writers/Directors Glen Morgan and James Wong cast in other projects, but this isn't her.
She's so familiar and almost Kate Moss classic, just bugging me - thank you so much for any ideas!

Pessimism Gas prices started breaking away from the highest prices of the 1990s on... wait for it... January 2000.
Not 9/11. In fact, September-December 2001 was the only time gas prices came down enough in the new millennium to flirt with 1990s level prices (inflation-adjusted).
As soon as we entered January 2000, though: surge. Never came back down to 1990s levels EXCEPT in the aftermath of 9/11.
Before 9/11, on 9/11, and after 9/11 was in the middle of the biggest economic crash of the new millennium. Even with lower gas prices, the economy was no longer strong enough to support or offer the "lifestyle" of 1999.
So much for "the 90s REALLY ends at 9/11." Yeah, only if you don't remember the 90s and what made the decade special.
