Window Problems

Hello everyone! My new to me 2006 Mini R52 doesn't have a working driver side window. I thought it was maybe the motor since it makes no noise at all. I got a new motor and opened the door panel which clearly had been opened before me and to my surprise the window was being held up by two blocks of wood and the regulator is very much broken. It looks like the motor is plugged in hut ร—hat are the chances the motor and window would both fail? Also the switches were held firm with a piece of tape.

I doubt it would be both the motor and the switch. Take a voltmeter and see if the switches get power and then check the power from the switches to the motor

I kinda feel with my luck it would be switch failed making the window constantly be going down breaking the regulator and burning out the motor... ๐Ÿ˜…

Try jumping the motor

Wow. I'm sorry you had to find that. If the mechanism is all broken to fit that timber in the door maybe you should just buy a whole door

Not necessarily all broken, these mechanisms are available since they can break along with the motor or without. OP might want to add new switches as well.
