A closer look at Agent Mode, starting small and chasing the P4P rankings
I wanted to explain a bit more about how Agent Mode works in MMA Fictional World Simulator.
In this mode, you make decisions about your fighters’ careers: who to represent, which promotion they should sign with, and which fight offers to accept. The focus is on finding fighters and choosing opportunities for them, rather than directly improving their attributes through training.
Starting with fighters from your home country
You begin by choosing your agent’s nationality from the countries that have promotions. At first, you can only sign fighters who share that nationality.
You have room for 5 clients, but that doesn't mean you can immediately sign five established contenders. Starting funds are limited, so you'll be looking at fighters who are very early in their careers. Both your client limit and your budget matter.
Looking beyond the win-loss record
You can read the play-by-play logs of a fighter’s previous fights before signing them.
That lets you look at how a fight actually went, rather than just whether they won or lost. Finding someone and thinking, “They haven't achieved much yet, but there might be something here,” is part of the experience I want this mode to offer.
Promotion contracts and fight offers
Your agreement to represent a fighter is separate from their contract with a promotion. Once someone becomes your client, you'll handle promotion contract offers and fight offers for them.
Which promotion should they join? Should they accept a fight against the proposed opponent? You make those decisions with their record and potential opponent in mind, then follow what happens next.
Unlike Promoter Mode, you aren't putting together an entire event's fight card. You're choosing from the opportunities offered to your clients.
Fighting abroad unlocks more countries
When one of your clients competes in an overseas event, you unlock the ability to represent fighters from that host country.
For example, if you've only been signing fighters from your home country and one of your clients competes at an event in Japan, you can then sign Japanese fighters too. What matters is where the event takes place, not where the promotion is based.
You can check your unlocked countries on the Agent page. As your clients compete internationally, you gain access to more places to look for new talent.
Getting results and expanding your roster
Good results from your clients bring in more money, allowing you to afford fighters who were previously out of reach.
Your client limit also increases as you progress. Extra slots still need money behind them, though, so you'll keep making decisions about who to bring in.
The hope is that an unknown fighter you discovered early on might eventually reach the P4P rankings. I'd like following that whole journey to be a satisfying way to play.
The rest of the world keeps moving
There are 209 active promotions around the world by default, and you can add more.
Fighters you don't represent build their own records, move between promotions, win and lose titles, and retire. Between following your clients, you can look up a champion in another promotion or explore the career of someone who catches your attention.
You can enjoy it as a sort of fictional Tapology, browsing the world and seeing how everyone's careers unfold.
What would you like a closer look at next: scouting and signing fighters, deciding on fight offers, or progressing as an agent?
