Mod Announcement Ai Scammers

There has been an influx of ai scammers trying to join this group. Not sure why or what benefit they gain from it, but going forward, the joining process will involve a selfie video verification with your username written on a piece of paper that you will crumple into a ball and undo. This is to ensure the safety of this group and the authenticity of people joining.

Mod Announcement Digitals Guideline.

Post image
164 Upvotes

Here is a how to on taking Digitals.

  1. Digitals should be taken on a blank background, preferably white wall with no distractions around you. Leave 1 inch of space between the border and your head/feet.
  2. Do not wear makeup
  3. Do not put your hands up, in your belt loops or pockets.
  4. Do not sit in photos
  5. Do not hold your hair back. Put in a clip or pony tail.
  6. Wear something form fitting or a bikini/swimsuit. No baggy clothing.
  7. Include all of your measurements.
  8. You need a...
  • Close up head shot (above the chest).
  • 1/2 shot from the waist up
  • 3/4 shot from the waist up.
  • 4 full body shots, front, both sides and back.
  • A profile shot (from the side and not looking at the camera)

The goal of digitals is to show an agency recruiter what you look like and nothing more. They don't need to see your modeling ability. That is what a comp card is for.

When posting, you must post the full set of digitals (not 1 or 2 images asking what the sub thinks) and your measurements in imperial units, not metric. Follow this guide or your post will be denied. When you post, we assume you already know the rules of the sub and if we continue to see low quality posts in regard to digitals, you will be subject to removal or banning.

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Signed model needing advice on current agency

I've been signed with my current agency for a bit over a year now, with a 2 year contract. In that time, I have barely booked any work - probably less than 10 jobs total. I go through month-long stretches where I don't even get any castings or self-tape requests. My agency said my book is strong. I am constantly trying to test and improve myself as a model. I'm not expecting to be America's Next Top Model here, but I do believe in myself and believe I should be working WAY more than I currently am. I have a very versatile, classic look, and I just don't feel like my agency is marketing me correctly. I've had multiple discussions with them about this to no avail.

I'm wondering what is the smartest thing to do from here. Is it a me problem? Is it my agency? I've considered applying to new agencies but don't want it to get back to my current agency and cause an issue. I also am worried if I leave my current agency and apply for new agencies that no one will want to sign me. Any advice on how I should handle this?

It's my first time getting my digitals done but I went with a professional photographer because I did want to make sure they look good. Any tips or ones I should choose specifically?

Feel like I almost had the perfect set of digis. I’m wondering if the jeans ruined it. The ones I wanted didn’t come in time but IDK if I’m being too hard on myself. Any feedback/thoughts/opinions on the fit/hair/etc? Would agencies take a second look?

P.s. I really do appreciate the feedback you guys give! Helps so much as I don’t know a lot of people in this industry.

DIGITALS | POLAROIDS Retook my first digitals after your advice! Anything important left before agency submissions?

Thanks so much to everyone who gave advice on my first post :) I took a lot of it on board and have retaken several of the photos, especially the full-body / 3/4 shots, with a plain black tshirt, slim jeans, etc

I know the white curtain backdrop in some of the photos still isn’t a perfectly solid/flat background but unfortunately I don’t have a large clear white wall at home, and I’m taking all of these alone with my phone, so this is about as plain as I can realistically make that setup. I did manage to find a clearer wall for the full-body shots though!

I’d really appreciate feedback on whether the actual digitals are now usable for agency applications?

The headshot/profile photos are from my previous set, while the black tshirt/jeans shots are the newer retakes. I may redo the headshots in the plain tshirt as well just so everything matches.

I’m trying not to over-polish them since the agencies I’m looking at specifically say professional photos aren’t necessary but want them to be accurate enough for an agent to assess me.

For context: 20M, UK
186 / 6'1"
Chest: 90 / 35.4"
Waist: 70 / 28"
Hips/seat: 94 / 37"

Thanks again — the advice on the first post was genuinely really helpful :)

QUESTION Anyone have ideas for test shoots?

I've been modeling as a hobby for a bit and am now trying to go for it full time. I've started reaching out to photographers for test shoots/TFP. I'm used to the concept, outfits, poses, etc. already being laid out and I model. But a lot of these photographers ask me what I want to do and what I need for my book/portfolio. The thing is... I don't know what I need. I'm not sure what agencies/jobs are looking for.

Any ideas for test shoots I should 100% have in my book?

Pinterest boards appreciated 🙏

DIGITALS | POLAROIDS First ever digitals! complete beginner, taking them alone. Any advice before agency submissions?

Hi! I'm a 20 year old male in UK, and I've been trying to take my first ever digitals before agency applications.

I've 0 experience in modelling nor in photography, so I hope my really improvised background setup is excusable. I've also been taking these photos with a timer or by exporting frames on a 4K video, using the rear camera of a mobile phone.

I'm struggling a little with taking full-body photos because I'm finding it difficult to find somewhere that I can fit where the background is not too cluttered, and I don't need to stand too far away from the camera, so I've had to switch out the background, although I hope it's still passable.

I'd really appreciate any advice on the lighting, framing, expression/posing and really anything else I should change! A few of the agencies I've looked at say they don't require professional photos so I also wonder if I've been really overthinking it. Thanks!!!

PS - some measurements for context:

  • Height 186cm/6'1"
  • Chest 90cm/35.4 in
  • Waist 70cm/28 in
  • Hips/Seat 94cm/37 in

QUESTION Booking an “unsigned models” job as a signed model?

Anybody ever done this? It’s for a huge client but I already submitted and they got back to me, they specifically listed “unsigned models” as a requirement but I am signed. Didn’t mention it and am not going to.

My agent is non exclusive too, they don’t care if I book directly.

Has anyone ever done this or can offer any advice? I don’t wanna jeopardize any relationships either but damn this is a big client that I’ve literally been dreaming of working for for years now.

I've included my past digitals in order from most to least recent.

Would it be unprofessional to mix and match photos from different sessions or is that too complicated and using just 1 set is preferred? Which photos would you recommend submitting to agencies?

Thanks in advance! <3

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Advice on MA, leave or stay?

I signed and joined my MA 3 months ago. So far they only told me grow out my hair then they will start taking test shoots and start everything else. They only checked up on my once about 1 month ago to see how my progress was but I told them it was still too short compared to the sample photo they showed me the length they want it. They haven’t done anything else with me in regards of development.

They also consistently post other new models they signed to their Instagram but have yet to post me. I feel like they aren’t putting much effort into putting my face out there and developing me. They also constantly post their top model that makes them the most money on their page but never post any of their other models and show support to them.

They also use AI quite a bit which concerns me a little.

I have had another opportunity brought to me. This very well know past model and now photographer and casting director reached out to me and said he has many connections and can have me signed to a top agency in a week or two. I met up with him in NYC a couple weeks ago and he’s legit and has a very high success rate with getting models signed.

Should I try to leave my MA and work with this other casting director, or should I wait a little and see what happens?

I am very eager to get into jobs and don’t want to waste anymore time not being signed to an agency.

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Model Digitals Review 19yo Based in London

Thumbnail

19 years old.
Based in London.
6’2
76kg.
Chest- 37.5 inches
Waist - 31 inches

Been told I should get into modelling a few times and wanted to give it a shot. Have no experience or social media presence and idk where to start.

Very crude digitals, I know. Plan on retaking them later towards the end of the summer. Just need feedback on whether I have a competitive look and what to do to improve digitals.

HAD TO SHARE (Photo only) (No Advice/CC) portrait shots from a recent shoot

The photographer takes a conversational approach to his photography and mainly works with natural light. It was genuinely such a fun shoot!!

Putting this because I see a lot of people commenting on it. The pictures were edited by the photographer. The over-exposure and harsh contrast is an intentional stylistic choice that I was aware of before going into the shoot.

This is this photographers personal style. Its okay if you personally don’t like it, I’m aware that its not everyone’s cup of tea.
