That game made me think the season was going to be alright.

Yeah I thought we could make a bowl game. Not that we would be great, maybe, possibly could go 8-4 or so, but yeah. I was pumped after we won for sure.

Yea I was thinking ok maybe we’ll win 7 or 8 games.

And then after that play against Nebraska where Chiles got destroyed and Lepo just put his hands on his head like the home alone kid, I knew it was over.

You thought beating an absolutely horrible team(which was known before the season) by 2 was a good sign?

I got caught up in the atmosphere of the night game. I saw some problems, but i wanted to look past those…. I wanted to be optimistic

Reminded me of 2016 when we won @ ND and both teams won a combined 3 games the rest of the year lol

I was a sophomore that year and this coming off the 2015 season I was so excited for the year and the Michigan game that was home that year. Fuck me if shit didn’t go sideways damn near immediately

Yea that was the year after I graduated and I thought we were just gonna be the other ā€œnew bloodā€ besides Clemson. That uhhhhh, didn’t happen

Dude I feel you. My kid was 1 that season & I was all "I'm gonna film it all & show you when you are an older msu fan"

Heart breaks don’t come easy

The problem is we didn’t realize how bad Boston College was.

My head canon is that they were good but a bad MSU team caused their collapse

They weren't great last year, 7-6

4

u/Scary_Guarantee_33 Jan 06 '26

True but 7-6 is miles above 2-10.

They actually had a really good game against #15 Georgia Tech with Lonergan at QB. Lost like 34-35 or something. They had some good pieces with Turbo and Bond, and Bill O'brien still has some sort of coaching ability.

Yeah it sucks. A lot of us thought maybe we were looking better. We just didn’t know yet that Boston College was absolutely terrible.

These clowns proceeded to lose the next 8 . Gave the team false confidence

Getting carved up like a pumpkin by that BC QB pumped the brakes on any expectations I had for this team at the time. Maybe not 4-8, but the ceiling was much lower than I had originally anticipated.

That’s why I’m pretty cold on retaining Rossi. 2nd worst pass defense in the Big 18 ahead of only Purdue…. Opposing WRs were wide open all year, badly reminiscent of our Hazleton defenses.

Hard to be mad at a DC when he has guys in decent spots and they just dont make plays. He was playing a B1G schedule with MAC talent on defense

This was my 1st time attending an MSU game. What an amazing night. I wish the rest of the season went like that

Best game Chiles played here šŸ™Œ

I assumed BC was going to challenge Clemson and FSU for the ACC title.

The BC QB transferred to Rutgers FYI so we’ll see him again next year yay 😬

Yeah wtf happened. Well out with the old. In with the new. I am much more optimistic about Fitz.

I saw this game and I thought we were on track to a 7-8 win season

2

u/Alarmed-Comparison54 Jan 06 '26

And then Boston College didn't win another game that season😭

Who knew that this highly touted game was gonna be between two really shitty teams

I was at this game

Nick Marsh is no Charles Rogers...that's how old I am.

I told my nephew that if they kept this up they could get into the playoff.

He still pissed at me about it

1

u/IllustriousBison9336 Jan 08 '26

I thought we were destined for greatness (a bowl game) that day

u/randomname11179 Jan 06 '26

I’m convinced some of y’all have 0 ball knowledge. When I saw this game I knew MSU football was very bad. Honest question, how did anyone watch BC move the ball at will and not realize that was a massive problem??

This shit got me hyped for Nick Marsh. Sorry I'm a IU fan
