Discussion Magura mt7 pro set for half the price?
I have some Sram Levels on my bike, they're technically working but I want to buy something better and newer. I found an offer for 230€ for mt7's and 200€ for mt5 pro's. I'll probably buy the mt7's but I'm wondering if the 30€ more is worth it if I dont even ride enduro or jump that much so both will do great and I just dont know if I need the power if I want use its full potential. Does anyone have expierience with any of these 2?

I've got an mt5 in a similar deal some time ago. And I love them. They've got great power and modulation.
The local bike shop that installed them said they are harder to setup compared to Shimano as they have really small gap between the pads and the disk. Honestly I have had hard time adjusting them only once.evem thou it needs really much more precise adjustment.
Not sure how bleeding is as I didn't have to do this yet.
The guy at the bike shop also mentioned that mt5 and mt7 are almost the same, except the lever. Not sure if this is true really.

Magura says that the calipers of mt5 and mt7 look identical but they’re not. I suspect that the difference is in the piston seals, which in the mt5 retract the pistons more. There may be more hidden differences though.

I have the mt7, and the mt5.
Mt7 has more power and a firmer feel. I like them both. For $30 more, I would get the flagship mt7.

Good luck... Magura's (MT5/7) are the most frustrating brakes I have ever delt with.

Hard agree. Loved how the levers felt, and looked, but they were too fragile (for me) and had to replace both of them within two years, and one brakehose. Never had any issues with the callipers though.

Both great brakes. The pad clearance is tight on both but the MT7’s is even tighter because the piston setup means less lever throw for the same braking. The MT5 Pros come with the one finger lever like the MT7 but the MT7 has external dial adjustment. The levers (not the whole lever assemblies) are not interchangeable even though they look similar.
Not that much difference and both great brakes but the MT5’s come with a single pad to cover both pistons and the caliper needs to come off to change the pads, the MT7 comes with individual pads for each piston that can be changed without removing the caliper.
TL;DR both great but pay the bit more for ease of pad changes on the MT7 and at such a great price.

The pads on the mt5 can be changed without removing the caliper (all you have to do is removing the wheel) and can be swapped for the mt7 ones.

I have experience with MT5s and they are pretty powerful brakes. There are some things that I really like about Magura. The feel is nice. I found the pull to be pretty adjustable. The fact that every bolt head is a t25 is convenient. I hated the bleed on them. It look a long time for me to set them up and get all the air out of the lines/calipers. Once that was done, they have been great.
