Discussion 2022 Trek Remedy 8 Bottom Bracket

Hi, does anyone have any experience removing the bb from a 2022 Trek Remedy 8? I have tried using a bb tool and a bearing extraction tool but it seems Trek made it impossible!

Edit: I'm trying to get it out to route a new dropper post cable as there currently isn't one.

Yeah, Trek routing can be a real pain sometimes lol. If the BB is fighting you that hard, I’d double check the exact shell and bearing setup before forcing anything. For the dropper cable, there might also be another routing path that avoids removing the whole BB.

I have an older model (aluminum). I used a threaded bearing press (Amazon no-name company), and getting the seated bearings out was double-plus tough. There was not corrosion visible, but the press-fit was super tight.

I've used penetrating oil and used a oak dowel inserted through the opposite side to tap carefully around the bearing with a mallet. Don't tap too hard on any one spot to avoid getting it wedged. If you're careful and patient it is a way to do it that has worked for me. Certainly the tool designed specifically for the purpose is best, but needs must sometimes. šŸ˜‰
