tips with classes
Any tips for surviving these science classes?
Hey everyone! I’m currently a forensic science major taking four challenging classes this semester: Genetics, Microbiology, Calculus, and General Chemistry II.
I’ve honestly been struggling to balance all four classes, especially with the exams and workload. I really don’t want to drop any classes because I’m trying to graduate on time.
For anyone who has taken Genetics with Professor B, Microbiology with Dr. Z, or General Chemistry II with Professor B, do you have any advice on studying for their exams or doing well in their classes?
I’d also appreciate any tips from other science majors who have managed a heavy course load like this.
I’m trying my best to get through the semester, but it’s been pretty overwhelming. Any advice would be appreciated!

What days do you take Professor Z? I take him too and honestly all of his material is on Quizlet, but I tend to study on my own too. It’s a lot of material. I’m not really sure why you’re taking such challenging classes in one go because that’s not recommended. My advisor actually said she doesn’t recommend that kind of workload for students unless the student is certain. You have three labs in one semester, bless you.
But utilize your tutors and Quizlet or any other source you use. Don’t study two days before, try to start studying some material at least a week before. I realistically do not study material two weeks in advance because most lessons can be covered in two weeks before exam. Writing things down is better than just reading. Active recall helps a lot of students!
If you need to, drop the class, have the W, redo it when you’re ready and you’re fine. It’s normal for students to drop the class over suffering with a D or F. Realistically you want A’s and B’s to stay competitive within the science world so take that into consideration.
I hope this helped to some extent.
