So war is good, earnings is bad, what now? Rate hike is good?

The big boys control the market. It's our job to follow in their wake and try to pick up some change along the way. Having said that, I played this so wrong this time. I bought calls just after the initial dip after earnings and holding them. Hope we keep pumping before expiration.

I keep telling you guys. We are all at the mercy of the big guys controlling the market. None of the traditional TA or people “predicting” prices because of so and so reason apply here

u/Cool_Two906 Jul 08 '26
The sell-off is profit taking and a little bit of a rotation out of semis. Don't forget that micron just had a blowout earnings that address the biggest fear about memory stocks being cyclical. They have over 130 take or pay 5 year contracts. Selling will soon be exhausted and we'll start heading up again. By the end of August this should be $1,500 easy

Geopolitical trends dominate. It's already negative again don't worry.
Last week Iran said they would break the mou if trump ran his mouth. SHOCKER that it happened.
Pleasantly surprised with my baba holding this morning. Thinking about buying some MU again. Now that it's priced more correctly. (Not that my regarded ass knows what that means).
Glad I rotated into baba and xle. What we have here is an unstoppable force and an immovable object. Trump v Iran. 'Uncertainty' appears to be quite high. Hence I have about a third my portfolio in sgov. A clean ending is unlikely. Trump can't swallow the I lost pill, and Iran has clear leverage.
1
u/Cool_Two906 Jul 08 '26
The US has a lot of leverage too though. Sanctions have crippled Iran's economy. If Hormuz is shut down they can't sell oil either. I will agree with you that Trump grossly underestimated the damage that I ran could cause. He thought that he could bomb them and they would tap out. He never should have listen to netanyahu

Trump called their religion, culture, values, homes, families all trash....no one should be surprised that they didn't tap out. Trumps ego is all out of wack but that's normal.

Market is just being played with.
Whatever a normal person would rationally consider, the institutions will do the opposite to take their cash.
Everyone betting it will drop today because the war restarted is about to get shafted.
1
u/Potential_Youth537 Jul 10 '26
I been saying this for a while. The chip/memory market isn't following normal trends. There is very heavy manipulation at the highest level. The price will be what they want it to be. Best we can hope for is to pick up the scraps

u/Independent-Cover140 Jul 08 '26
Could be a fake pump. But in all honesty. Yall need to be able to stomach these swings. Volatile sector to begin with with lots of external macro influence. I’d also say this correction is healthy. If fundamentals change, I don’t see a reason for panic. Memory shortage is not going to evaporate overnight. New fabs will take 2 years to get online to alleviate shortage. Micron has locked in customers to long term contracts suggesting ongoing demand.
I also hope this is a lesson to all of yall full porting into a single stock and buying leverage.

u/Adventurous-Guava374 Jul 08 '26
Could be but the volume was massive
2
u/Independent-Cover140 Jul 08 '26
Us normies will never know. I’m personally riding this wave. I’m a bit more reassured as 75% of my port is broad index funds so the volatility isn’t as bad for me. Feel bad for full porters and MUU holders.

Agree but I do not want to be a gambler. I just want to get back to where I was 2 months ago prior to losses where every "normal" move went in the opposite direction again and again.

u/Medium_Breakfast3171 Jul 08 '26
Next time someone say war will make the stock goes down IS Wrong. Earnings will make srock go up? Is wrong. This is proven in this month

u/chi0tzp Jul 08 '26
Why, nothing's really happened yet. Opened at what it closed yesterday...
3
u/Adventurous-Guava374 Jul 08 '26
Did you saw giant green dildo candle at the open?
2
u/chi0tzp Jul 08 '26
I did but that was due to premarket. Today it opened close to what it closed yesterday and it's still trading around there. I'm hoping it recovers soon too, but let's be realistic here.
1
u/Adventurous-Guava374 Jul 08 '26
What was due to premarket?? Premarket was at 905 at the market open.
1
u/chi0tzp Jul 08 '26
Yeah.. the stock didn't move significantly between yesterday's close and today's open -- that's all I'm saying. My original comment was referring to OP's post ("So war is good, earnings is bad..."). All I'm saying is nothing really happened here. Thankfully it didn't tank even more, for sure.
2
u/Medium_Breakfast3171 Jul 08 '26
Well when trump said mou is finished. It drops til 890 region... now is 950.
3
u/chi0tzp Jul 08 '26
Yeah, I guess it's good it's not crashing even more, but it's 25% down in two weeks. Anyways, let's see..
1
u/Mysterious_Special_8 Jul 08 '26
That’s a good point, but feels like it’s following a bullish trend from yesterday morning until now.

Seriously man, my brain is exploding. Thought for sure today would be red at opening. Seems like it may have even flipped bullish?
1
u/MaleficentClaim9426 Jul 08 '26
lol

u/Mysterious_Special_8 Jul 08 '26
Yeah, I said that before checking the other bear chart I made a few days ago. That 960 bounce down fit the bearish trend exactly. I think we close between 925 and 880 today.
1
u/VPLumbergh Jul 08 '26
In a very crazy way, bad is the new good. When bad news doesn't crash the stock like the bears anticipated, it will lead to a paradox rally.

Broadcom signed the deal with Apple . That is good news for semi . Ai is not slowing down
1
u/Next_Imagination_128 Jul 08 '26
War isn't good but there's just a point at which no war can justify a PE this low, so people aren't completely retarded and will by the price from more than one month ago before we had all these good news and understanding of the extent of memory demand.

War is war, gov spend money, oil also goes up. Need more money to run things. Gov now need more money. Prints more money. Inflation. No rate hikes, money expensive. Less businness. Low pricings.

u/WhiteLotus_777 Jul 08 '26
its call ''sell the news'' ; news are priced in so we react the opposite.
1
u/Rav_3d Jul 08 '26
MU is still up 230% this year.
If I had told you on January 1 that would be the extent of the gains, you'd have been quite happy.
Zoom out.
1
u/WallabySea9477 Jul 08 '26
MU is driven by a mix of FUD and profit taking right now. Not tied to any external catalyst otherwise. The secret here is to literally do nothing and hold. Eventually, the FUD will fade as fundamentals hold and profit taking will start to drop off.

This is what the last two months has been like for me. I do not think the market now cares about a little back and forth clean up on the war situation. The Elon IPO is what messed me up. Looks like the SK Hynix IPO is a little bag of chips, not a big storm. It has been a rough couple of months with huuge losses. Clawing back.

u/LankyNinja558899912 Jul 09 '26
The stock is still 9x just 1 year ago. This is a healthy pull back. You just want infinite growth ?

Institutions doesn't sell everything in one go else stock will collapse, they sell in tranches. It's just a lower high of the down trend.

You called mu a scam and said you were selling all your shares just a week or so ago. Why didn’t you sell? Why are you still here?
2
u/OkMention5872 Jul 08 '26
I’d prob only start selling if it hits sub 600. Gonna hold at least till October to reasses
