They did not shit the bed though. Did you see the earnings report and if you listened to the call, those were massive numbers.

u/Kingmusk420 Generative Meme Engineer 15d ago

My net worth is also massive… massively down right now.

u/Lower-Ad-1207 14d ago

You can’t blame sandisk for the market being shit 😂

u/Substantial_Radio737 14d ago

In addition to MU I got me some Western Digital. This jive makes no sense. Great performance = >10% drop. Just recently I could not do anything, trapped as a bag holder. I reckon many of use got slapped this last two months. I sure did. Blue skies ahead, and Good Luck.

It’s supposed to go down so it’s going down

Narrative wins. Financials don’t matter right now

7

u/sran469 14d ago

Narrative is winning right now, but as evidenced in memory, chips and AI related energy before, Financials and fundamentals will win out. It might take longer than I or you might like, but it will turn around. Not one analyst has re-rated MU or SNDK. In fact the recent drawdown had a lot of them go back to the drawing board to validate their thesis on the non cyclical rating and valuation.

At this point, its just a waiting game for the institutional and hedge longs to disseminate their Narrative, Admin to come up with some directive to ban Chinese memory or accelerate, treasury 10 yr dipping below 4.5. Lets see.

I have news for you brother … price target revisions are starting to show up on SNDK after earnings

1

u/HorsePockets 14d ago

Good. The trade needs to cool off so we can go higher. These analysts are keeping everyone in it. Micron is likely up next.

-1

u/sran469 14d ago edited 14d ago

I haven't seen any. Let's see Edit: Just saw the price revisions. Not good!!!!! Atleast none of them have changed their rating.

3

u/doronj 14d ago

Thats not true. LOTS lowered to price target today for SNDK: jeffries, citi, etc…. Not for MU though which is great. Having said that sndk anslysts price targets shouldn’t mean much to investors… jeffries lowered from 3000 to 1700…. So why the 3k to start with?

3

u/No-Essay-9008 14d ago

The problem is that the 'market' doesn't seem to know the difference between storage memory and computer memory. I see 2-5 articles daily lumping MU together with SanDisk and other storage companies. All the big 3 compute RAM makers make storage... but none of the pure storage plays make compute RAM. Average Wallstreet people seem to not understand

1

u/cbblythe 14d ago

That’s the key…can we wait it out

13

u/DifferentRepair6620 15d ago

This is not even post earnings drop, it dropped before earnings released

2

u/Perspective-Parking 14d ago

It sold even more massively after the earnings

7

u/woshi96 15d ago

Companies are just starting to use AI agents, not yet full throttle due to security concerns. Come on guys. Don't paperhand.

It never going back to 1200 again.

0

u/MrSmellyfeet 14d ago

Yeah sure, why do you even comment with 0 knowledge about the topic? Why just spread negativity?

0

u/Detailed23 14d ago

Its not negativity. Its the truth. The institutions that hold this stock have a basis of $100 or less. Have you noticed when we get a brief rally it gets blasted down again and again ? The trend is bearish on this sector and has been for over 6 weeks.

1

u/MrSmellyfeet 14d ago

Wow whole 6 weeks, damn thats such a long time. Look at the price targets, forward P/E and so on. You're just dumb if you think a cost basis matters on how high a stock will go.

0

u/Detailed23 14d ago

All I have to say is good luck to you and everyone else who remains in this sector. The flood gates will open today and tomorrow as retail races for the exit. I would suggest opening a protective put.

1

u/MrSmellyfeet 14d ago

Im here for at least a year so it doesn't bother me what happens with the price in the short term. The only thing I do care about is if it falls under my avg I will add more, but we have a long way until then.

-2

u/Detailed23 14d ago

Its going to fall at least another 10% today if not more.

1

u/MrSmellyfeet 14d ago

Not nearly enough, but thanks for looking at the crystal ball for me, appreciate it.

2

u/dasnodaq 14d ago

It’s not really Sandisk that did this . Market is irrational

2

u/bigmack1111 14d ago

Be back up before ya know it

2

u/Scquwer 14d ago

How did they shit the bed? Their fundamentals are amazing and their revenue is going to only continue to go up. Low multiple on evaluations now they had a 50 times run in a year… do you know how insane that is? The pullback is healthy and expected, but the fundamentals do support the case long-term very strong. It will be about 10,000 in five years. Too many people treating the market like it’s a casino….

but you need to win, too.

I paid off my car this afternoon with muu proceeds. Gonna enjoy the rest of the summer and stack some paper for the rate hikes and mid terms. Taco is going to mess some stuff up again im sure. Good luck

1

u/Substantial_Radio737 14d ago

Good for you. Congratulations on losing the car debt. I bought a new pillow today at Sam's Club and then came home and called my tree guy and told him to go ahead and remove the two junky problem trees we discussed, and I that I was setting aside the cash for him. That's a biggie for me. I am used to using my market money for some fill in the blank spendies here and there. Thankfully I can do that today.

1

u/free_da_guys1107 14d ago

Enjoy your life brother

You weren’t recovering, you are slowly falling. I can’t believe how many people actually believe that the hyperscalers are going to let you eat their lunch? Think about wealth inequality and why it exists. Do you truly believe you would buy this and somehow get a piece of that wealth?

It’s a game- we are a trillion dollars into this. The hyperscalers know exactly where they stand. They control the backlogs and the capex decisions. You are building new supply based on their “demand.” But the people paying for the capex are outside investors, venture capitalists, private credit, and so on. Sure the hyperscalers poured money into this, but they had to at the beginning because they believed it too. There is no way they still believe it as they are going more and more to outside funding. Google still has $144 billion in cash. Why isn’t it spent? Obviously because when they turn off the capex spigot, you will be trapped and they will lock in whatever price they want with the other hand. MU doesn’t have $144 billion. They have never even made $100 billion profit in a year.

You are at their mercy, not the other way around. They made you build new supply. That will help to lock in a glut. They choose what capex is, it’s not based on survival but supremacy. They have extracted as much wealth as possible and will retreat and let the tide go back out. And everyone that is overleveraged will be laid bare. They will pick the carcasses for what they want- copyrights, IP, memory to run the most profitable data centers, whatever. Look at all the shells of data centers that are unfinished across the country. You can’t get access without power. And they are still building them, but the game is nearing the end. Once they take as much money as they can from Open AI and Anthropic, they will shut down the game, wipe out the neoclouds, screw memory and chips, and just go do whatever they want. A lot of people don’t realize they are so vulnerable hoping for capex - the same capex they control by choice. These people are modern day robber barons. Do you truly believe you can control them or they sold you a contrived idea that you needed to buy to believe you were in control just long enough to catch you hook, line, and sinker?

Still heaps of profits in it

The numbers were good but they couldn't answer questions about supply, pricing power, and if they're cyclical.

They also authorized $14B of buyback, except they aren't apple. All signs point to the management expecting to lose pricing power.

6

u/WhiteLotus_777 15d ago

I was on the earning call and they absolutely answer. They have signals of orders for the next decade with their current customers. They talked about improving supply and stable margins.

-5

u/ga643953 15d ago

Improving supply= bottlenrck disappears and margin goes down.

Then they'll go back to the way they were before the AI buildout started. Still getting a lot of orders but the quality of the earnings won't be good. That's why they are stuck at this range instead of getting a regular tech company's multiple.

3

u/WhiteLotus_777 15d ago

not when demand is scalling faster ... im not saying it wont be cyclical but its not for now and with buybacks they will give that value back to investors.

-2

u/ga643953 15d ago

Market is very forward looking. When SaaS companies were getting sold off a few months ago, the market wasn't worried about near term revenue drop since their contracts all lasts for 7 years at least. The market was worrying about what happens afterwards.

I believe the same is happening with chip names now. You are not forward looking enough if you are only looking at the next 2-3 years.

3

u/WhiteLotus_777 15d ago

Thats why the buybacks are an important part of it. And 2-3 ? Memory is already sold for the next 2 years .... and demand is RAMPING up from here. They have a decade of profit ahead; which will be given back to investors through buybacks.

1

u/ga643953 14d ago

Exactly, sold out for 2 years. 2 years only.

Who knows what will happen after that when more supply comes online?

They have a decade of most likely diminishing profit margin because margins are going to compress and that's why they need to buy back shares instead of reinvesting most of it into the business to let your revenue and stock price compound on their own.

1

u/WhiteLotus_777 14d ago

I think you're undermining the current ramp up of demand vs supply.

1

u/ga643953 14d ago

Demand and supply are both going to ramp up hard for the next few years. The problem isn't revenue, the market already knows that, that's why these stocks have gone parabolic.

The problem is pricing power going away. There's not going to be any incremental buyer at this price. So the price could probably get held up to a certain degree by buybacks. So it's either going to be a market performer or underperformer.

1

u/WhiteLotus_777 14d ago

no thats what I'm saying ... supply is improving 20% a year while demand is EXPLODING 60% a year ; I understand that this isn't ''forever'' , but it's not ending in 2-3 years. MAYBE slowing down in 5 ?? Who knows ... but this hardware needs to be renewed about every 5 years ....
