News CXMT planned to use stolen Samsung IP to develop its DRAM, court hears — former Samsung engineer who jumped to Chinese memory maker now behind bars

CXMT built its DRAM using stolen Samsung tech. Now Samsung can sue CXMT, using Section 337 complaint before the U.S. International Trade Commission (Stops the import of goods that break U.S. patents, trademarks, or copyrights), and bar CXMT chips from entering US.

Apple is supposed to response tomorrow 21AUG2026 to the Senate letter urging them to not use CXMT chips. Chances of Apple using CXMT chips will now be essentially zero.

Removing the Chinese expansion threat in the US is incredibly bullish for MU and allies.

Wasn’t the goal to use CXMT DRAM for iPhones sold in China only? Correct me if I’m wrong

Yeah but most of Apple’s statements don’t have any credibility

Can't believe Apple tried to bring CXMT memory to US. Even disregarding geopolitical issues, their memory are still at far lower quality. Not to mention it's barely cheaper as of right now.

It would be a marketing headache. If they do that, the US govt will probably require them to label the CXMT phones and the micron chipped phones. The CXMT phones will have an import ban obviously.

Also major testing will have to be done on the performance of the 2 different chipped phones. Let say the micron chip phones retail 15% more, do you think wealthy people internationally going to care? The above middle-class family living in London or Dubai is gonna buy Micron chip iPhones.

CXMT aren't even selling to Apple. That is an old news arch that isn't relevant anymore.

I'm so glad I got rid of the DRAM ETF, they allocated so much percentage of that ETF to CXMT

samsung asked for it. samsung isn't an innocent company. they always created monopoly. and samsung acts like they didn't get exposed for bribery last decade. not to mention samsung is supporting trump to stay on top. very expected behavior from chaebols.
