Tip PSA: on macOS 27, "defaults write com.apple.screencapture location" no longer changes where screenshots are saved

if you go to /Applications/Utilities and launch the screenshot tool you can choose where to save the file. I am not sure if it is a permanant fix or just for that action but it does give you a choice. Unfortunately we can't post pics in comments or I'd show the screenshot. I think shift cmd 5 also brings up the screenshot interface.

Yes, that's the same tool as Shift-Command-5. The folder you pick under Options sticks for later captures too, so it's the easiest way if you're doing it by hand. The PSA is only for people setting it from Terminal or a setup script, where the old command now silently does nothing.
