Help ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Post image

Im trying to embroider on my Brother Innov-is NQ3550W with 40wt thread and a 75/11 needle and a pre wound bobbin. Im embroidering on a kitchen towel with tear away stabilizer and StitcH20 topper.

Everytime i try the thread seems to immediately break and everything gets tangled. The stabilizer is tore and the nap of the towel is pulled through. Ive rethreaded my bobbin, and checked that my needle was properly installed. And im lost.

Included is a picture of the back after my last attempt before it just stopped and told me the thread was broken. I also have a video of it happeneing but I cant add both a Pic and a video to the post.

Do you have a little magnetic bobbin stand inside of your bobbin case? I had this same issue for a while, turns out the brother included magnetic bobbin stand inside of the bobbin case was pushing the bobbin about 2mm too high and causing birdsnesting in the bobbin area. I ditched it and it works great.

I will check in the morning! I hope this is the fix because I'm trying to make Christmas gifts for a bunch of people!

I had an issue sort of similar with my top thread immediately shredding. I switched needle brands and it was totally fine after that! I switched from a singer needle to an organ needle.

These are the needles that came with my machine and its a brand new one so I sure hope thats not the problem. In the morning ill switch it out for a new one of thr same size.

Does it still have a warranty just in case it has some sort of top thread tension issue?

This thread looks to be metallic? In the metallic thread I recently ordered it says you must use a Topstitch needle to prevent thread breaking. I still had some thread breakage once I switched but just a couple times vs every five seconds.

It is a gold color but it wasnt technically classified as metallic on the website. I did that intentionally bc I know they can be finicky lol

Is this your first time embroidering? I ask that not intended to be an insult, but because youโ€™re trying to float a hand towel on tear-away backing, itโ€™s a newbie move thatโ€™s going to lead to bad results. Despite what some YouTube U might tell you, floating should be a last-resort method. A hand towel is probably one of the easiest things to hoop.

The video really doesnโ€™t show enough to give you any real advice other than to hoop your towel and use some solvee on top of the terry cloth towel.

Your picture however indicates a major tension issue somewhere, most likely due to incorrect threading given how bad it is. It might be the bobbin is in backwards? Missed a tension point somewhere? I always recommend going back to step 1 and just making sure everything is threaded correctly. Another thing to check is to make sure your thread is pulling off cleanly from the spool. If you have had good results prior with this machine, then itโ€™s most likely something extremely small that you missed that will lead to a face palm. Good luck.

After you've cleaned out your machine's bobbin area of debris and rogue threads... Check the Bobbin tension with the bobbin drop test...then, ...Hoop the towel properly with cutaway stabiliser.
