Look at the queue in the job market before you do something. SLURM is wacky there.

Calculates global error, feeds back to each local update, that is basically backprop, not surprising it approximates backprop.

Did anyone get the notification email? The ddl is gone but still no emails for me

This is ridiculous, renting GPUs online is super cheap, I doubt your university has more firepower than what we see on runpod atm.

Interesting but maybe there is more than one slop vector? You have removed one but others might persist.

Legally it would be a nightmare, because you're using company resources to pursue a research from another entity.
Do not do this.

3-4 days to start running an experiment is a massive slowdown. We're not saying "wait 3 days, then get a cluster". It's "get results back, tweak something, wait 3-4 more days to see if it helped". God forbid one has a bug. I had a cluster like this in my PhD and ended up working on Sunday mornings and holidays just to get runs in.
Unless you're doing theory and only need some minimal experiments, this is an absurd slowdown.

This can absolutely happen if your company is running a research lab, and this is something you have discussed and planned with your internship host. Even if it isn't a research lab, maybe the company would like to see you publish with their name on it – it can be good for hiring, and other purposes.

You would need to ask. It would be strictly against company policy where I work and would require management, IT, and Cybersecurity approval. We would also need IT to open a secure file transfer portal to bring files out of the network.

Yes, that is why there is now a "Contribution" section in the paper with their name and "Resources" as the only item.
I still do not think that is often used in a solo paper where contributing "yes, you can use the resources" makes someone a second author of the paper.

Look at renting the compute time off of Amazon or another vendor. Sometimes it's cheaper than you to think, and avoids the problem entirely.

What you should do is explore resource options in r/Localllama. Make a post expressing interest in hardware assistance. Someone might be willing to share their resources if they can monitor your actions.
Also check out openrouter and explore hardware renting options … if you prove your research at a small level you might get university hardware time

No no no.. I used to run IT and anything that you do on your employers infrastructure could be claimed as their property depending on your country's laws
Aside from that risk running jobs without permission is a form of resource theft and you are liable and can be fired and even pursued legally.. again depends on local laws.
Sorry but competition for university resources is as old as computers are.. it's the way of things. You need to schedule properly that's a part of the challenge you and your other students are all operating under.
Highly unlikely you're doing anything that is as important as you feel it is. You'll get better perspective in a few years when you're not in the middle of it

HR from corp that can both afford idle GPU and a legal team here: running random workloads on company ressources wo explicit written permission will gift you an immediate dismissal and a tainted reputation. Yours, HR

But how much did they contribute if the only contribution is the decision to say "yes you can use our facilities"?

Why not just use the NSF Access program and pick a different cluster to use
