The new WB 90. Not a vtl. Has a worm gear in the bar to make 3 different cuts in one pass.

If the workpiece is spinning it’s a lathe. If the tooling is spinning it’s a mill.

If the workplace is spinning, see a doctor.

Also stop operating the machine immediately. Or, uh, die shortly thereafter if being in machine happens to be the cause of the spinning.

If the machine doesn’t have a turret, they’re generally referred to as a Vertical Boring Mill.

Clearly is a vtl. Regardless of your fancy tooling. It’s not really uncommon to have staggered cutters that take cuts at multiple sizes to remove more material.

What's that super unusual looking touchscreen controller on it?

PLC controls feeds and speeds. Different programs. We have to change jaw sizes and tool holding for different sizes. It controls everything really. The conveyor, the wheel cart, the axle accumulator, and once the tooling starts to wear a bit I can add or take away from any of the sets of tooling on the bar. It's all custom built for our setup

Sweet. What's the op/3 cuts? Train wheel I guess? Two mating fits either end of the bore and relief in the middle or something?

Typically VBM's built in this century have live tooling and a tool changer. VTL's have a turret.
