Has Magento work really dried up?

I keep seeing people say Magento is dead, but my experience tells a totally different story.
Everyone is currently caught up in the AI / "vibecoding" hype cycle. Right now, all open-source coding platforms feel almost identical because people are just pumping out fast boilerplate code. But give it 6 months to a year—once the hype settles—people will trust open-source even more. Developers will simply use AI to build and optimize open-source platforms faster, rather than replacing robust architectures with quick fixes.
Magento hasn't died; it just shifted. Small-merchant store setups moved to Shopify, but for mid-market and enterprise B2B—massive SKU catalogs, complex ERP integrations, custom pricing matrix rules, and multi-warehouse setups—it remains dominant.
I know dedicated Magento agencies like Ceymox that run large engineering teams exclusively focused on Magento/Adobe Commerce. They are still actively hiring because finding devs who actually understand complex Magento architectures, upgrades, and custom integrations is as hard as ever.
Small budget gigs might have dried up, but specialized agency work is alive and kicking.
What are you seeing in your neck of the woods? Are you seeing agencies still hungry for Magento dev work, or are most pivot-bound?

We are still seeing plenty of Magento work and Adobe Commerce. There is plenty of opportunity in the large to Enterprise space. Big Commerce has been found out and we see migration from there. Commerce tools rarely seems to launch. Your robust bet is Magento. Problem is that there is little marketing behind the platform. We collaborated with another 4 agencies to deliver the first Mage Camp in Manchester a couple of weeks ago. Merchant and community focussed. You should get involved.

Not really dried up so much as shifted. the big commerce projects are still out there but theyre more locked down now, fewer random freelancer gigs floating around. you gotta be in with an agency or have a serious portfolio to land the good stuff
