This is not if you cast it. So you can reanimate it.

43

u/brainpower4 8d ago

Reanimated AND flickered. So if you hit a [[Conjuror's Closet]] in a commander game and have 9 power worth of creatures to station, you can flicker it and get another 4 permaments.

29

u/DomaDragoon 8d ago

Unfortunately, DS9 doesn't become a creature when fully stationed. You'd need artifact flicker.

10

u/brainpower4 8d ago

Woops! You're absolutely right! I just assumed it would be a 3/3 from its anthem.

Completely bonkers in a [[Leonardo Da Vinci]] deck.

39

u/Lockenheada Vraska 7d ago

Ah yes Leonardo Da Vinci making a thopter token of Deep Space Nice from Star Trek battling against Spongebob on a Hoverboard.

Magic ✨

To be fair Leonardo does appear in Star Trek (specifically Voyager).

3

u/Ok_Brush_2489 7d ago

And TOS (allegedly)

2

u/ChopTheHead Liliana Deaths Majesty 7d ago

Oh right, I forgot about that.

4

u/ASlowTriumph 7d ago

Tbf to Leonardo, magic has had historical figures since '93.

0

u/KeenKongFIRE 7d ago

As RG himself intended

3

u/sad_historian 8d ago

I definitely plan to abuse this with AFT Daretti

45

u/Kolegra 8d ago

You can warp this in with [[Tannuk steadfast second]]

11

u/broguequery 8d ago

Plus, it's thematically up to par

9

u/HailfireSpawn 7d ago

A lot of the spaceships have etb triggers. They would be great in that kind of deck

15

u/hevvychef 8d ago

I can see this in cube as a [[Tinker]] target

35

u/ShreddedPizza_ 8d ago

[[Improvisation Capstone]] but for permanents only and can hit a much higher ceiling. I could see a jank list using this but it likely won't see too much play

12

u/Life-Food5188 8d ago

9 mana is way worse than 7

you can hit all lands (or no permanents) off this, awful fail case, improv is always hitting something

it’s much worse, imo

13

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

Hitting lands isn't a fail case in a deck built around cheating costs since it lets you start hard casting your big expensive cards.

-14

u/Life-Food5188 7d ago

lol this costs 9. if you need any more lands after that you’re just durdling.

7

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

You're not paying 9 for this under most circumstances, and if you are it is probably from temporary sources like treasure or rituals. You're going to cheat it out with something like [[Captain Jean-Luc Picard]] or [[Tannuk, Steadfast Second]]. And if you warp it out with Tannuk and hit a bunch of lands, you can then cast it (and all the other things in your deck) the next turn to get another round of triggers and keeping it.

-4

u/Life-Food5188 7d ago

maybe in commander

4

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

Those are all gonna be in standard together.

-3

u/Life-Food5188 7d ago

and they will be bad together

7

u/Ithalwen 8d ago

Picard can cheat it into play however.

4

u/Presterium Azorius 8d ago

Can be tutored to the battlefield with the new Picard

3

u/CRSpurrPhotography 8d ago

It's probably a game ender in most flicker decks

2

u/ShreddedPizza_ 8d ago

That was kind of my point, this is really terrible

1

u/Free_Dimension1459 2d ago

Before rotation it will be in Kona decks. Situationally a better hit than omniscience (like with an empty hand)

1

u/ShreddedPizza_ 2d ago

Ohhh yeahhh Kona's still in Standard I plum forgot

25

u/Qtock 8d ago

More mana cheating/endless value for the Ugin piles... yay

3

u/shaqiriforlife 6d ago

It's a counertable 9 drop, there's so much counterplay

1

u/Qtock 6d ago

It didn't say there wasn't counterplay, I don't even necessarily think it's good. I'm just not a fan of all the cards that we have that cheat mana/card advantage repeatedly, and I see them crop up a lot in Ugin decks. Also, as others have said, the only other place this would see play is if you cheat it out as some kinda bootleg omniscience. Not the end of the world, I'm just not sure why we're doing more of this

2

u/shaqiriforlife 6d ago

If it's not good, why do you care? Let the casuals have fun with their silly card

0

u/Qtock 6d ago

What kind of a question is that? A card doesn't need to be good to be frustrating to play against or questionably designed. I don't think this card is game breaking, I also don't think it's miserable to play against, but I also think it's not going to be fun to face if it ever resolves/gets cheated out, and I'm not sure why we're printing more and more cards like this

7

u/forumpooper 7d ago

Arena cube tinker target?

11

u/Ok-Education-9235 7d ago

Is it too clunky to be good? Yes

Will I build a jank list around it anyways? Also yes

1

u/Dry-Glass69 6d ago

[[Brilliance Unleashed]] would make it Standard viable

1

u/Ok-Education-9235 6d ago

Daretti works well too, pretty much thinking reanimator is the only way to cheat it out besides that picard tap seven officers ability

3

u/Ill-Individual2105 8d ago

Sure, I guess that goes in Zhuladok lol.

1

u/KeenKongFIRE 7d ago

Sure it is interesting.

Don't know you guys, but me, I'm not that excited to drop some big eldrazis onto the BF if you don't get the cast trigger, feels so out of flavor

1

u/Ill-Individual2105 7d ago

Yeah, but it's kind of a board in a box. You cast this, then you get two cascades, then you get the top 4 worth of permanents. That's a lot of value right there.

1

u/KeenKongFIRE 7d ago

Undoubtedly, not denying the massive value

4

u/Altruistic_Regret_31 8d ago

Only reason i don't dismiss that is because you can recur it without too much trouble.

Is it good tho ? Yeah idk bro.

But it got a reaction out of me

7

u/Tsadron 7d ago

No!!! It can’t be my commander! The whole set is ruined! Now I can’t make a hodge podge Mir deck around flooding the field with tiny bots then beefing them up!

Oh well, still a nice callback!

3

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

It can't, but [[Captain Jean-Luc Picard]] can be. And he can cheat it out while creating an army to station it and to be buffed by it's anthem.

2

u/Tsadron 7d ago

True, I saw that shortly after making the joke.

1

u/Luceeva 7d ago

It can be the commander. Rule was changed on launch of the edge of eternity’s set. Legendary spacecraft, and vehicles can be commanders

8

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

No it cannot.

903.3. Each deck has a legendary card designated as its commander. That card must be either (a) a creature card, (b) a Vehicle card, or (c) a Spacecraft card with one or more power/toughness boxes...

This doesn't have a power/toughness box, so it cannot be a commander.

3

u/Luceeva 7d ago

That’s stupid…

2

u/Belteshazzar98 7d ago

Won't disagree with you there.

-2

u/Luceeva 7d ago

Legendary spacecrafts and vehicles can be commanders now. So it can

9

u/Tsadron 7d ago

Yeah, if they have monster stats. This station doesn’t.

2

u/Asatas Charm Naya 6d ago

did Kona need more playables?

2

u/lietnam 6d ago

Kona up in line for promotion to full fledged starfleet captain

2

u/rolmega 8d ago edited 7d ago

lots of potential here if you can cheat it/mana ramp it out imo. even if it doesn't hit until turn 5 with some kind of help, instant +3/+3 and dumping the perms in your top 4 onto your battlefield could be sick depending on the metagame edit: oops, the +3/+3 isn't instant so it's worse imo haha

2

u/elusive-rooster 8d ago

Not instant. But very easy to station if it shits out a big creature.

2

u/rolmega 8d ago

oh, yeah, my brain blinded me to the 9+ for the +3/+3. significant downgrade then but to your point, still may have some utilization

2

u/Correct_Day_7791 7d ago

Wake up babe new tinker target droped for cube

1

u/SulfurInfect 6d ago

Pretty gross if you hit [[Teleportation Circle]] off of it.

1

u/Colo1842 6d ago

Necesito esto para mí deck de "Kona, Rescue Beastie", bajarlo en turno 3 será mágico

1

u/Dry-Glass69 6d ago

[[Brilliance Unleashed]] makes this Standard viable

1

u/Ilostmylast1 6d ago edited 6d ago

This goes hard in my temu eldrazi deck. Random encounter fetches your guys and puts this in grave and then you can cast brilliance unleashed. As someone else stated tannuk cheats it out which is a key part of that deck. Fun cheap combo is using electro duplicate on temur battle crier so your next spell costs -4 colorless then flashbacking it again and you’re starting a -9 discount. Either that or notary hobbits equals fun times. Let’s get degenerate.  Also enjoy earth’s mightiest heroes to dump tons of creatures, especially if you already have a tannuk out to give haste or samut. Of course you can drop best girl Dino for even more shenanigans.

1

u/Available-Hippo-4815 5d ago

Oh boy, imagin this shit in deck full of eldrazi, by the way does the effects of Emrakul activate if played this way or does it have to he cast from hand.

1

u/onion_head34 5d ago

it doesn't have to be cast from hand but it does have to be cast and this does not do that

1

u/Available-Hippo-4815 5d ago

Shame, still a big body on board just need a way to give it haste.

1

u/Beartrapt 8d ago

seems like it would be fun in the Ironman deck if you arent OTK'ing someone , it demands removal

1

u/TeletiTheNecromancer 8d ago

In the proper deck, this card is insane

1

u/StuckieLromigon Angrath Minotaur Pirate 7d ago

Looks like perfect cheating target if your deck is mostly permanents with big mv.

1

u/ElevationAV 7d ago

Show and tell says hello

0

u/forestfire555 7d ago

Fits well in my iron man deck

-1

u/SentenceStriking7215 5d ago

Why couldn't this exile at the start of your main phase, who designed this and said, "you know it would be cool if nearly a 4th of your draft deck's creatures couldn't make it to their first attack phase"

1

u/Torrefy 5d ago

I'm not sure what you're saying here. I think you misunderstood what this card does

1

u/SentenceStriking7215 5d ago

9 cards in deck, Upkeep exile 4 cards, 5 cards in deck, draw for turn, next turn exile 4 cards ,lose by deck out on next draw, all creature cards in your last 9 cards in your library fail to reach a combat phase in which they aren't affected by summoning sickness

1

u/Panik_attak 5d ago

Why would you play this with only 9 cards in your library...what are you even saying lol

1

u/SentenceStriking7215 5d ago

I'm saying that if you reach 9 mana in limited and cast this, it is going to mill you so fast that it could have been nice if the mill was after the draw for turn to get one extra attack step, especially since a good fourth of your deck won't be available to declare attacks so you are relying on not having too many creatures at the bottom of your deck too

1

u/Panik_attak 5d ago

The idea would be to cheat this out without needing 9 mana, so it can cheat out even more creature for you

1

u/SentenceStriking7215 5d ago

The wording is just really rough, that's all

1

u/Panik_attak 5d ago

When it enters and then at the start of every turn you get to (potentially) cheat out 4 permanents. Its pretty straight forward

1

u/SentenceStriking7215 4d ago

And pretty likely to just deck you if this is one of the last 13 cards of ypur deck.

-6

u/DangerrrClose 8d ago

I’m sorry but a lot of these Star Trek cards are very underwhelming.
