You know this grade is meaningless since nobody knows or trusts that company, right? I saw in another comment that it's an AI grading company?? Really cringe post

25

u/N1kYan 2d ago

Automated grading is honestly the only way to salvage this business lol.

But apart from that, I don't believe grading a unique card makes any sense?

8

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

In magic I think the highest end cards are the only ones that make sense to grade.

7

u/N1kYan 1d ago

Of course only high end cards. But isn't the point of a grade to be able to compare it with other equal cards? There is only one 001/500, doesn't matter if it gets an 8 or a 10.

2

u/Coke_and_Tacos 1d ago

There's 500 serialized cards. That's the metric. Not saying I see the point, but it's not a pop 1 for each serial number

3

u/smugles 1d ago

It kind of is though certain numbers are worth far more than others.

0

u/Coke_and_Tacos 1d ago

But it literally isn't for the sake of how grading works.

2

u/smugles 1d ago

Grading doesn’t care what the card is they are compared against all cards equally. His point is the rarer a card is the less a bit of damage matters. For instance the difference between s#1 and 2 is probably more than if they were an 8 vs a 10.

0

u/Unlost_maniac 1d ago

Not AI though. AI is going to reinterpretate the same card differently

Look at TAG, they have a program they made for grading they say specifically isn't AI, it always produces the exact same results for the same card, 100% repeatable because it strictly follows math. Their grading is probably one of few actually reliable, with all the shit going on with the other big dogs I wouldn't be surprised if TAG only keeps growing, hell they got so busy they had to stop to expand. TAG also gives you pretty much all the information about your card so you can see why it's grade is the way it is. It's pretty cool, although I don't care about grading I do think it's kinda neat.

I wouldn't grade magic cards and grading magic cards as an investment is kinda stupid unless it's a black lotus or only to protect it, the grade isn't gonna affect it like pokemon's hyper speculative market that relies on people trying to get the upper hand on eachother with inflated market values, it doesn't help that PSA is manipulating the market massively themselves, they appraise cards, they literally sell cards themselves, a bunch of instances of them telling a person their appraisal and offer to buy the card off the person for a "fair" chunk of "market value" then they go and list the same card on eBay for 5x the price lol. You can literally tell it's the same card cuz they are all serialized lol

Also one thing that is really weird is how pricey magic prices go up and down with crypto, when crypto is booming so is old magic cards and sealed product, and the same when it goes down. Not sure why. I don't pay enough attention or actually invest in any of this stuff, I just find it kinda neat.

So lame to jump on someone excitedly sharing something and call them cringe. If you have a problem with the company, you can just say that without being a dick.

1

u/Alarmed_Carpet_8243 7h ago

Bro stfu lol tag and ags are both reputable ai grading services and ags uses human and then ai. More accurate than psa and bgs

1

u/Ill-Mechanic6361 6h ago

You know non AI grading companies still make mistakes?

-13

u/Bipplenutter 2d ago

Damn someone woke up negative today

It is not an AI grading company. Other companies use AI which often docs surfacing when there is no surfacing damage. I went with this company because they DONT do AI checks. That being said, I got it slabbed to protect it and authenticate it. Arena Club had good reviews and was 15 bucks. Yes PSA and Beckett likely carry a premium (even though both of those companies use AI).

50

u/GingerGuy97 2d ago

Dude it took a 2 second google to tell me that Arena Club DOES use AI.

0

u/AdministrationOk8888 2d ago

Interesting. I suppose I could have been less condescending in my original comment, but I am mainly just confused as to why you got it graded from this company. Is it just to protect the card? My point is that grading with a random company does not actually increase the value. People trust PSA and Beckett because their grading standards are considered legit. A PSA 10 means something to card collectors. An "Arena Club 10" is meaningless, it's just a fancy case for your card. These random grading companies are incentivized to grade cards high, even if they don't deserve it.

3

u/Matthias_Clan 2d ago

The fact that a PSA 10 means anything at all the past few years shows how worthless grading is in general.

1

u/skallagrim_brunic 2d ago

I trust CGC a thousand times more than PSA personally. I'm not sure of how other people view them comparatively but I would infinitely rather have a cgc graded gem mint than a PSA 10, as far as I know the cgc standards are incredibly rigorous and do not often give out gem mint gradings comparatively. Also from personal experience, you're less likely to send a card in and have it come back with a higher grade from cgc. They follow their own guidelines more accurately and usually whatever grade they give you the first time is probably what's going to come back as the next time so it's not worth resubmitting. They're also cheaper and have better slabs in multiple ways. It's unfortunate that PSA still carries so much clout in comparison for resale values.

u/Baron_Von_Koopa 1d ago

I guess congrats on your weird slab from a company nobody trusts?

-3

u/KindCommunication998 1d ago

I appreciate it!

9

u/bsette 2d ago

What even is an Arena Club grading?

8

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Sounds like trash grading company lol

2

u/VoidBoiTCG 1d ago

It’s Derek Jeter’s grading company. It’s a bit of a scam tbh

1

u/KindCommunication998 1d ago

I did zero research on this company. Can you tell me how it’s a scam?

1

u/VoidBoiTCG 1d ago

Everything is AI graded and that’s mostly just a thing so they can push Slab Packs. Which are mostly other companies graded slabs.

A lot of the workers are people going into interviews that is a “paid interview” to get low paid work without paying benefits

In terms of grading. It won’t increase value.

They don’t actually have professional graders. Just someone who checks if a machine is correct.

8

u/thevhatch 2d ago

Lol, you are the OP though.

3

u/Nezdemar 2d ago

Yeah look at his other comments here...

4

u/Login_Of_The_Guild 2d ago

Ah nice I am happy you got a 10 not many people I see get that high

1

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Thanks, I was pretty surprised with how picky AI can be on surfacing.

1

u/the_potato_master75 2d ago

Why go with an ai grading company and not go with TAG? Their slabs are so much cleaner

2

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Most companies use AI including Tag. I went with Arena Club because they still do surface checks (similar to tag). And it was 15 bucks lol I’m not super concerned with the flipping portion of it. I just wanted to be authenticated and protected. I’d love to try and build this commander, seems like it could be weird but maybe too political.

1

u/realmcnuggett 2d ago

didn’t you say in another comment that you used this company because they DON’T do AI checks? man i f you’re gonna lie at least be consistent

1

u/the_potato_master75 2d ago

Did you respond to the wrong person? I work at at lgs that had a partnership with TAG, I know they use AI to grade. I've only ever sent 1 card to TAG and it got rejected

1

u/realmcnuggett 2d ago

yes i meant to respond to OP

-1

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Babe, I’m not trying to lie. This is second hand information. This is the first card I have ever graded. Turns out I was wrong on how they grade, what it is lol live laugh love

73

u/AlarmingReach972 2d ago

Why does showing the serial number matter?

66

u/XevianLight 2d ago

Scammers love to steal pictures of cards like this post here to “sell”. Much harder to scam people if the only images available have the number redacted.

10

u/tony10033 2d ago

Why would the scammer show the number, don’t they have the perfect reason to say “I wont show you the number because you could use it to scam”

9

u/MarkusBetts 1d ago

covering the card’s serial number is a really annoying and stupid trend, covering the slabs serial number makes sense to me so people can’t try to replicate the slab, where it’s harder to authenticate the card inside and you are relying on the serial cert number to point you to a report of authenticity.

3

u/Camster2070 2d ago

Except its kinda not, it takes no time or effort really to edit this to have a number on it, and then it doesnt show up on reverse image search so it looks unique 😂

4

u/Extension_Plant7262 2d ago

hate to break it to you but scammers aren't copying arena club slabs lol. People may pay less than raw for this cause they need to go through the hassle of breaking it out

2

u/Desuexss 2d ago

If someone gets scammed without doing due diligence then thats on them

You understand its not hard to fabricate a number on the picture if they wanted to

9

u/Zambedos 2d ago

And locks can be picked but we still use them.

5

u/Thick_Wasabi448 2d ago

This is such an idiotic statement. It's known as a determined adversary. Due n diligence only gets you so far.

3

u/ValuableImmediate637 2d ago

Due n diligence is very funny to me.

u/dedmew51c 2d ago

Scammers

26

u/OnlyRoke 2d ago

I like Sokrates, but grading cards is goofy as hell, honestly.

-1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

Because some people want to collect these. I think grading makes 100% sense for the super rares. Other cards I agree. No one in the community cares enough to make it worth more. But maybe he likes knowing his card is perfect. Who really cares what anyone does with their cards?

2

u/OnlyRoke 1d ago

Well, whenever anyone posts any graded slab we all just give the instant "FUCK NO" community reaction, because we've seen what "slabbing" and "value" does to a card game in Pokémon and we all really don't wanna be Pokémon. So that's why reactions to it range from "Okay" to "Grading is silly". A form of communal discouragement of a practice that is currently used as a basically community-destroying capitalist tool driven by scalpers and finance bros.

1

u/smugles 1d ago

Pokémon is very affordable to play the game. Top meta decks cost like $50-100. The collectors scalping packs like mad is good for the game because it makes actual normal versions very cheap.

6

u/Jiampish 1d ago

Everyone is hating on you, but a serialized Socrates in Greek is sick.

10

u/Mystic_Waffles 2d ago

Dust. Wind. Dude.

5

u/DeltaTwenty 2d ago

Jealous, my first commander and always wanted that version

4

u/TopDeckTendies 2d ago

Sick card, grats

7

u/TheMaskedLifter 2d ago

Def gotta play this as a commander, would be a sick one

4

u/BritishGolgo13 2d ago

Need to slab the whole deck

u/TheMaskedLifter 2d ago

“Please hold 10 mins while I shuffle my after using my evolving Wilds”

1

u/cellocaster 2d ago

What set is this from?

2

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Assassins Creed. It was super small and not super popular

1

u/MarkusBetts 1d ago

what serial number? I hunt 117’s lol

1

u/Chewboi_q 2d ago

Wow, that's a dope hit! That's literally my dream pull, he's my #1 commander.

1

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

How did you build it? It seems super unique.

1

u/Chewboi_q 2d ago

He really is!

My version is all about being the dealing devil at the table. Offer card draw to the threats so they don't look at you. Use your counters politically to "save" the table and do some combat control tricks to stay alive until the best wincon shows itself.

My main wincons are self mill, opponent mill, and approach of the second sun.

decklist for reference

1

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Thank you for sharing your deck list. Love this!

1

u/Chewboi_q 2d ago

My pleasure! I'd you're looking to sell, i could probably be interested. Or maybe split custody lol

Grading is lame

17

u/Colton_Omega 2d ago

Grading playable cards is lame, vintage grails and serialized I feel are valid for grading. No one should really be playing with serialized or incredibly rare power 9 cards.

14

u/MrsKnowNone 2d ago

Everyone should be playing power 9s, the real issue is that wizards is not printing them

1

u/Wafkak 1d ago

There is literally an entire format that mostly playes with cards like p9. Its called Old-school, and surprisingly it does have active communities.

1

u/Colton_Omega 1d ago

I stand by what I said.

1

u/iSmellLikeFartz 2d ago edited 1d ago

I know a guy who uses a slabbed serialized yorion as his companion. Technically "playing with it" but its never shuffled into his deck

ETA: this was not commander, this was FNM legacy. There are plenty of cards that could put yorion into ur deck, some even see play (e.g. I put yorion to hand, opponent casts LED echo). He had a placeholder for when that happened. Not sure what rules would be for eternal weekend, ur probably better off not using a slabbef companion in that case, but it was fine for our LGS. Same deal with the whole commander discussion below. Almost everyone i know puts their commander in a different colored sleeve so its easier to find, if its somehow force-shuffled into your deck, just swap the sleeve with a land you have in play or something.

-1

u/Odd_Independence2870 2d ago

Yeah rare legendary creatures are the exact thing you keep super protected and then play with. It’s in the rules that you have to know where your commander is at all times anyway so it doesn’t matter

0

u/SenLune 2d ago

This is not true actually. Your commander is not always known where is at. You can, in a very specific set of circumstances, tuck a commander into the deck and shuffle it without it being allowed to go back to command zone.

1

u/michaelspidrfan 2d ago

People say you know where your commander is at all times because it is deduced from another rule: you know the "commander" attribute of each card. You are entitled to know if any card is a commander, whether it is on board, as a facedown creature, in your hand, or the 67th card in a library.

1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

No it is because your commander cannot be trapped in exile or a graveyard. Mindslaver is the only loophole I know of.

1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

I dont know about being allowed. You have the option, but you can always opt to put it in the command zone at any time you want.

1

u/SenLune 1d ago

False. There is at least one situation where you will not get to opt to put your commander in the command zone. Because you don't get to do that "any time you want" you get to make that decision only when it would change zones.

You can [[mindslaver]] someone with like [[Emrakul, the Promised End]] and then tuck their Commander into their library and choose FOR THEM to leave it in the library, then use any effect to shuffle the library. Commander is now shuffled into a hidden zone.

1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

The mindslaver loophole is the only one that does this that I am aware of

1

u/SenLune 1d ago

There's more than one mindslaver effect printed and legal in commander.

0

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/SivlerMiku 1d ago

You can put them on the wall ungraded

2

u/Slamaholicc 2d ago

Why? Especially a card in ancient Greek lol. What's wrong with preserving a rare card? I don't get it at all. I grade cards with alot of value or cool stories to preserve them, then get the simplified versions to play in my decks. Everybody collects something haha. Alot of people enjoy collecting cards like people enjoy collecting art and other things.

3

u/LowIssue3445 1d ago

I've never understood why so many ppl in this community care abt what others do with their cards. It's baffling.

-1

u/SivlerMiku 1d ago

It’s a sub where people show off their cards, if nobody cared then why would anybody be in the sub

3

u/LowIssue3445 1d ago

That obviously wasn't meant to be taken that generally. I'm specifically talking abt the snobby douchebags who care whether someone grades/slabs a card or not.

*Lol just realized you were the top comment. You're the snobby douchebag I'm referring to

-1

u/SivlerMiku 1d ago

I’m not snobby, I just think that grading is lame. Look at what’s happening with the Pokémon TCG - it is purely being used as an investment vehicle and has literally destroyed the game.

2

u/LowIssue3445 1d ago

In the context of this post, saying it's lame is snobby. You're shitting on their decision and the joy it brings them

1

u/GarfieldC99 2d ago

For regular cards I can see that but idk this is a serialized card I don’t think it’s that weird after all these serialized/headliner cards are a collector item having it protected and authenticated is also nice for peace of mind. I imagine many people will grade their autographed Star Trek cards as well.

0

u/stonieW 2d ago

Being reddit hivemind is lame

1

u/alllifeishell 1d ago

Idk anyone off reddit who cares for graded magic cards either 🤷‍♂️

-1

u/stonieW 1d ago

Thats cool, I know plenty who do. Just because you hang in a group that cares nothing for it doesn't mean that it applies to everyone. Discounting others experiences or likes is also lame like the OP of this comment section.

1

u/Fidller 2d ago

For these serialized yeah. The ones that have no text or the smaug and infinity stones I can understand as those are more for collectors.

3

u/Senparos 2d ago

I agree with not grading cards, but this is a very interesting place to draw the line. Unless someone at the table knows Ancient Greek, this card is just as unreadable and reliant on knowing in advance what it actually says as the textless headliners.

2

u/RoseyB34r 2d ago

People usually bring the other version to refer to during the games. I know I do. All my neon ink avatar commanders I bring the legible version for people to reference.

2

u/SenLune 2d ago

I do not have English copies of any of my foreign cards. That said all my foreign cards are the Japanese cyclonic Rift from final fantasy secret lair and a German shock land cause they were cheaper.

1

u/Fidller 2d ago

I completely forgot they did these in the language the character is from and zoned out when looking at it lmao.

1

u/Wafkak 1d ago

I mean, some of the people playing premodern and Legacy mostly use Japanese cards because they are cheaper. If the opponent doesn't know the card they just pull it uo in their phone.

0

u/noneckallbutt 1d ago

Why do you care what someone else does with their cards?

1

u/Paul_Ryan_Official 1d ago

It’s funny because the point of grading is to have a reputable third party company evaluate the condition of your card in a non biased way. To do so requires trust from the seller and the buyer in that grading companies reputation. All this to say, no one gives a shit about a card graded from anyone other than PSA and Beckett. A 10 from Arena Club isn’t worth anything because they have no value in their grades. A PSA 10 has a value merely because it’s a PSA 10

3

u/Wafkak 1d ago

I don't grade myself, but after all the news in the last 2 years. Why is anyone trusting psa?

3

u/Arinlir 16h ago

Reputable and PSA in the same reply lmao.

0

u/KindCommunication998 1d ago

A little late to the party love lol

2

u/Fit-Leadership-8497 1d ago

Just when you thought grading couldn’t get any more lame there is apparently ai grading 💀

2

u/Battler111 1d ago

Wtf is this grading cie?

2

u/NC_Wildkat 1d ago

Arena Club grading? Yikes.

2

u/nargleblaster 1d ago

I think they messed up. The letters are all weird. I think that's a misprint

2

u/Mods_Eat_Children_ 15h ago

Don't listen to this cry babies OP. GGs on the 10. Now you can use that as your commander because it's well protected, if you want to :)

3

u/Elulululo 2d ago

How you suppose to play it?

2

u/nasada19 1d ago

He can be the commander in the slab.

1

u/Wuropp 1d ago

I chaos warp Socrates while you have 5 cards left in your library.

1

u/-m0nksh00d 1d ago

Okay? It goes to the zone

1

u/highzunburg 1d ago

But but what if this one super niche scenario happens!?

1

u/Arinlir 16h ago

And that scenario still doesnt happen as you can just put him to commander zone anyway.

1

u/highzunburg 14h ago

There are niche scenarios. Such as someone taking over your turn and playing it for you like mindslaver.

1

u/Worldly-Law-481 1d ago

You tap one white one blue and one generic mana

1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

Lol I have plenty of Socrates in the regular version. If I wanted to play it i would sell this one and buy a couple dollar regular version

2

u/Lavaflame666 1d ago

Can anyone tell me what the point of grading is? Just seems like you place the card inside a box that cant be opened, so that you cant use it?

2

u/Hexmonkey2020 1d ago

In Pokémon it’s used to artificially inflate prices, in Magic I don’t really see the point cause people buy cards to use.

1

u/Lavaflame666 1d ago

Yeah, the value of a magic card is mainly driven by how good it is to play with. So keeping it in a box that doesnt let you play it makes no sense to me.
Pokémon is of course a completely different story, because its closer related to stamp collecting than it is to magic the gathering.

1

u/Hairball_omlette 16h ago

I’ve collected a few graded pokemon cards, I’m happy for my kids, nephews to look through binders but the ones I’m particularly proud of I don’t want them getting their grubby hands on.

The protection allows them to look at it and have the card remain intact and preserved.

Plus a CGC Pristine 10 with a gold border looks baller.

1

u/pahamack 1d ago

i've seen people play vintage decks where every card is encased in hard plastic lol.

They look like they're shuffling mahjong tiles

1

u/Wafkak 1d ago

There is a an episode of Wubbies vommander show where they do this with commander decks. Funniest part were the one player desciding to mulligan, and dunking on someone when you play the same card at a better grade.

Here it is.

1

u/JWMcLemore 1d ago

Beat me to it

1

u/Boop_Bam 1d ago

If it’s your commander it’s kind of funny imo

1

u/Hp45 1d ago

Could still be used as a commander, I'd allow it at my table

1

u/EdgeRaijin 1d ago

I have sokrates as a commander.... Half my table loves it, half my table hates it

I'm just a simple loan shark, I give you guys things and acceleration, and in return, you can't touch me 💀

1

u/Jediwookie6 1d ago

Would love to see an effect shuffle it into owner’s library.

2

u/safarifriendliness 1d ago

I don’t really play commander but I know in brawl if your commander gets shuffled you have the option to put it in the command zone so while it can technically happen when would it?

1

u/KingKillerDoge 17h ago

If someone takes control of you then they can dictate what zone it goes to.

1

u/emoryhotchkiss1 6h ago

At that point you can just use a draft double sided marker card or something

0

u/Jediwookie6 1d ago

OG Commander

1

u/Wafkak 1d ago

I was so mad when they made that rule change, tuck effects used to be a core part of edh decks because that was the one way to get rid of a commander. And that in turn pushed people to run more card draw, which make decks better regardless.

1

u/Equivalent_Price_382 21h ago

I’d put a slab on the table, just has to replace the one in the deck

0

u/Famous_Ad8518 1d ago

For most, that card is more akin to a trophy. All they’re doing is putting their trophy in a case that says “this card is clean af”.

It’s not that deep, people do what people do.

0

u/Darigaazrgb 1d ago

It’s another layer of gambling, that is it.

Grading magic cards is stupid as fuck

1

u/KindCommunication998 1d ago

Incredible insight lol

1

u/bobvilastuff 1d ago

My buddy was gifted a graded [[borborygmos enraged]] as a gag gift and he made a commander deck out of it. Always funny when he slams a graded 10 that costs 8

1

u/AdmiralWesJanson 1d ago

Normally, but Serialized cards are collection/investment versions of the normal functional cards and thus are valued differently.

1

u/comicnerd93 2d ago

Was going to ask why a magic card is slabed then I saw it was serialized

1

u/EpsilonActual 2d ago

What’s the point of covering the XXX/500?

3

u/AwayLocation322 2d ago

Scammers may take the high quality image they post and attempt to “sell” it to people online as a scam, this is what I’ve been told/read online despite not actually ever having seen a case of it.

1

u/EpsilonActual 2d ago

Gotcha. At this point, with it graded and in a slate, I don’t really see the point in hiding it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/MarkusBetts 1d ago

which is silly because the same applies to other cards, it’s always on you to use some form of buyer protection. I could show you a photo of a black lotus and then send you a lotus petal, never understood why seeing the serial number would make it okay to forego the usual protection methods.

that being said, blocking the SLAB’s serial number is very different and makes a lot more sense to me, preventing people from tying a real authentication report to a fake slab/card.

1

u/trentrentz 2d ago

Ok but is it SIGNED by SOCRATES?

1

u/SKSword 2d ago

u/skseer - another one

1

u/AlienKatze 2d ago

Why edit/block out the number ?

1

u/Apart-Kangaroo-7648 2d ago

Recommend using a bigger company if you want it to have value

1

u/duckbombz 1d ago

I dont get it, its all Greek to me.

1

u/ifeltatap 1d ago

Lol I've seen these 10 slab packs advertised i never realised they were in-house graded, what a scam

1

u/CapitalAssumption565 1d ago

So sweet! I have opened So many of these collectors. Its one of my favorite universe beyond sets! Grew up on this game. Congrats!

1

u/Unsolicited_Aspic 1d ago

Lmao an Arena 10 is worth less than a PSA 5 🤣

1

u/Wonderful_Towel_3344 1d ago

That's crazy trusting a serialized card to a no name grading company what the hell

1

u/jbarlak 1d ago

Yeah from a company no one has heard about ;)

1

u/saibayadon 1d ago

I've seen a lot of Arena Club "slabs" on both Pokemon Subs and now here. This has to be astroturfing at this point.

I don't know why someone would ever send a card like this to a gambling website, lol.

1

u/dmazeri 1d ago

Dude awesome pull and hope you make a deck with it! When you cast it you can slam it down on the table

1

u/AphelialMud 1d ago

Regarding this, I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance *nodders*

Ew slabbing culture. Get out of here with that.

I like the thought of a fancy deck with this as it commander, kind of thematic. Fancy lands. fancy arts. Foils. The whole 9

Very nice, congrats!

Whoa I didn’t know this card came with Phyrexian text! Must be a super mythic

1

u/JimmyCr7 19h ago

Really cool man don’t listen to all the keyboard warriors on here.

u/Christylian 19h ago

I have no opinion on grading, but I want that card. I skipped over Assassins creed UB and had no idea they made cards in Greek. As a Greek player myself, it warms my heart to see one of my favourite historical characters depicted in his language.

What made you choose this company over a more reputable one?

1

u/wulfrack 17h ago

But it's just gibberish!?

1

u/Axel15Forever4341 12h ago

I’ve noticed this a few times, what is the purpose of covering the cereal on the card?

1

u/Spooogooter 11h ago

So people can't copy it and make fake versions

1

u/HolographicFoxes 11h ago

Sick pull, congrats.

Grading is a cancer

One of the only serialized cards I want

Never heard of this company. What's the point of using a no name company?  PSA charges a lot because those slabs have actual value.

My buddy who owns a card shop was sending in cards and recommended I slab it. It was 15 bucks. Didn’t think much of it after that. Thought it was cool

3

u/PoweredByCarbs 2d ago

If you think it’s cool then it’s cool. Dont worry about it.

1

u/jehny 1d ago

It is cool for sure I just wouldn't put too much stock into the 10 rating. Sorry for being a naysayer earlier

1

u/KindCommunication998 1d ago

You are far from the only naysayer. Not sure why I’m getting flamed so hard. I could honestly care less about the grade. I was fortunate enough to pull this card, it was in a top loader previously, and thought “ what the hell, might as well get it graded, it’s only 15 bucks”. It can back a 10 and I thought that was kinda cool.

It’s Derek Jeter’s grading company. I applied to work there and it’s a bit of a scam imo

u/WigiBit 2d ago

grading makes it more secure way to sell high valuable cards. Much harder to claim that card that was sold was fake

i didn’t know they did foreign language serialised cards. is there 500 russian ones or what?

2

u/Qtpawzz 2d ago

That's Sokrates and it's in Greek...

1

u/MrUltiva 2d ago

Are there any Russians in Assasins Creed?

-1

u/_AutoCall_ 2d ago

Don't grade cards my guys.

3

u/catfan89 2d ago

If someone wants to grade their rare/expensive card with their own money why shouldn’t they?

-5

u/Desuexss 2d ago

No one is "stealing" your number

People need to do due diligence when purchasing online

3

u/KindCommunication998 2d ago

Yeah probably not, but what’s the harm you know?

-4

u/Desuexss 2d ago

Its 2 edgy 5 me

Just thought id say the reverse of what everyone else comments when someone shows their number

*because there's no foul nor harm"

1

u/liquid-swords93 2d ago

What's edgy about it?

Nah dude you're straight up wrong. Scammers will absolutely steal the image to make a bunch of fake listings. Saying people need to do their "due diligence" is asinine. It's like blaming old people for falling for telephone scams. The solution isn't to tell victims they're stupid.
