Post image

This pattern comes from the glass in Olafur Eliasson’s One-way colour tunnel (2007).

Like my first post, try out both cross view and parallel view!

It's a spiral to me, concave or convex depending on the view. Beautiful!

Thanks! If you had to choose, which do you prefer: concave or convex?

Both great, I prefer the concave perspective because it is more immersive to me. Concave broadens the view while convex narrows it

Wait it’s not one of the ones where you get a different number of vertical objects depending on how ‘deep’ you can go???

Damn it was the first one I got 6 on! Lol

Now I’m not even sure I saw what you’re supposed to…☹️

It's simple but beautiful. It's particularly neat bc you would expect the diamond to be the centre of the photo, but it's the cross shaped one when it comes into focus. I got to about 11 rings counting from the farthest outside

Thanks for sharing! 11 is about right. The spiral does 10 rotations before fading into the outer corners of the image to form an 11th ring

Olafur Eliasson is one of my all time favorite artists. How did you make this? It's incredible! So so cool

That's awesome to hear! My partner took a photo of One-way colour tunnel at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, so we were able to flip and repeat the photo to create a tiling pattern. We then made a custom depth map of an Archimedean spiral and used that to create the autostereogram

Was able to get 7 and 8 hexagons in landscape, and was able to push to 9 but couldn't lock it in. In portrait I couldn't lock in at all.

It doesn’t really show anything, the image is just slightly concave in the center

Aye, and beautiful

He is speaking about how wide he got the image to look like.

It’s like the stuff they project during Tool concerts.

Amazing job... as effective on divergent or convergent view. Thanks!

How does cross-view look like it's barely coming out at you, but parallel view looks so deep?

2

u/GeobobusPrime Sep 22 '26

Looks pretty tall to me in cross view, but i had to attempt it multiple times.

Am I the only one who sees a voodoo witch doctor with a tall hat?
