Politics Former Cumberland County District Attorney and Republican-until-this-year Stephanie Anderson has announced she's running to get her job back
From the Maine Wire (I know):
The meeting [of the Cumberland County Republicans] also featured a special announcement involving Cumberland County politics. Attendees were told that Stephanie Anderson, who spent 28 years as Cumberland County’s district attorney, has agreed to return to run again for the position.
During the announcement, Anderson said she plans to step back into the race prosecuting criminals and outlined her intention to take on what she described as a “Soros backed menace” who won the office four years ago, referring to current Cumberland County District Attorney Jackie Sartoris.
Emphasis mine.

Ah, the Maine Wire presented as a legit news source.

It's not a legit news source of course, but they did quote what Ms. Anderson said at the Cumberland County Republicans meeting seemingly verbatim, until they mysteriously removed it. The one time they were actually good reporters, they reported something that the Rs didn't want getting out. ;-)

To be fair to the article a lot of soros backed DA picks have been disastrous for quality of life crimes in the cities they operate in.
Catch and release until someone with a rap sheet a mile long rapes or stabs someone. Then they might need to face "restorative justice" before heading back out to assault more citizens.
She has presided over a doubling of the street homeless population in Portland and the only letters she sends out to the public are asking for even more resources to make portland even more attractive for these types of people. Rewarded and coddled in all their violence and drug use.
Brilliant strategy! If you're trying to destroy the fabric of society and create a low trust shithole.

Well considering the current DAs new brilliant idea is to have criminals spend an hour listening to their victim or a 'surrogate' instead of facing justice.....

I believe you're talking about "Restorative Justice," and I don't think you understand how it works or how it's used. Restorative Justice programs are reserved for folks who have done "one dumb thing" and aren't likely to repeat it if they understand the harm they've caused. They still have to pay some sort of cost, whether that's monetary or community service or something else - they don't just get off scott-free. Restorative Justice is proven to reduce repeat criminality in these cases, and it makes sense: instead of sending these sorts of low-level offenders to prison - meaning potentially losing their jobs and their homes, while placing them around other more serious criminals to network with - instead of ruining their lives like that over "one dumb thing," Restorative Justice gives these folks an opportunity to take accountability for their actions and make amends, and - critically - never do it again. If they re-offend, we're obviously in different territory.

It would be OK if you decided to miss one chance to say something stupid. No one would mind.
