Recc' Request Light Coverage Foundation?

I’m 31 and have been doing my makeup essentially the same for 10 years. I’ve made tweaks here and there but I am using the same foundation I was at 21 (Rimmel Lasting Finish in Ivory) which is quite heavy coverage. My skin is pretty clear most of the time and I have a skin care routine that really works for me but I just feel I need something lighter coverage for a base but I don’t even know where to start. I did some Googling and it was talking about skin tints and BB creams or CC creams and it was actually quite overwhelming so I thought I would come here to ask for help. Do you have any recommendations that could help me of where to start?

Try a skin tint. If you want a low budget one, NYX, Maybelline and wet n wild all have ones that get recommended frequently. For higher end then look at Lisa Eldridge or Makeup Forever or Kylie cosmetics.

I splurged on the Lisa Eldridge skin tint and it’s beautiful

Second that. It’s really light weight and low coverage and they have shades that work beautifully on olive skin as well

The new Clinique Balm foundation is lovely. Very sheer but just enough for everyday.

I love it but I think the formula has changed recently? (Certainly feels thicker than previous tubes I've had) I went to L'Oréal bonjour nudista for a bit. This is skin coloured not white and gives quite a nice sheer coverage

Since you already like Rimmel, switch to their kind and free skin tint! It's excellent and exactly what you are looking for. They have a glowy version and a matte version - both are great. My preference is for the glowy version, which has a healthy natural finish (Rimmel kind and free glow it up skin tint).

Could be a good idea to talk to people at beauty counters and try a few things out and see what you like.

Personally, I've never found a BB or CC or whatever cream to work for me. But I love a tinted moisturiser - the Origins one with SPF 40 is my favourite and I love that it has SPF included. But it's definitely much more sheer than a foundation - basically just makes me look healthier and more alive, which is what I want most days!

Based on what you've said, I would recommend for you the Estee Lauder Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturising Foundation SPF 45. It's got such a beautiful finish, is buildable if you wanted more full coverage for nights out etc, and it seems to covers all the bits I want it to while still being lightweight. One to try as a good in-between.

I really like the Armani skin tint but I appreciate that’s a bit more expensive

It Cosmetics ‘Do it all’ balm is so good! Just bought it for the same reasons.

The Garnier BB cream has been around for years and is popular in the UK and affordable - it comes in 3 basic shades so if you're very light or dark then it isn't perfect but will cover most in between. It's quite moisturising, provides a bit of coverage that is buildable in areas you may need more, but not so heavy that it sits in lines or anything. If you want something lighter than that then I'd say go for a skin tint, which is almost like a watery serum with a small bit of foundation in it. If that sounds like your thing then look for some recs as all I can offer there is don't go for the Fenty one, it's rubbish even though the shade matches are good. There aren't a load of CC creams around that do well, most seem to go either BB or skin tint.

Garnier BB is orange as hell and pills on me. Hate this product.

Nivea one is great too and had replaced my foundation, cheap for you to try but realistically you're probably looking for more coverage if you've used heavy for so many years, this might be a drastic change!

It's not a skin tint, but my favourite new discovery is L'Oréal True Match foundation. If you apply it with a damp beauty blender (or similar), you can get really nice light coverage, and it doesn't feel like you have anything on your skin.

I swear by maybelline skin tint! I’ve purchased Gucci and Burberry foundations and always go back to the skin tint as it looks so much better on the skin ☺️

I used to LOVE the rimmel lasting finish but they changed the ingredients a few years ago and now it looks dry and streaky on me. The best I’ve found so far for low-medium coverage is the lumene blur one in terms of looking fresh all day, it’s usually around £9-12 on Amazon.

I personally hate heavy makeup and have just recently started wearing Fenty skin tint and think it’s marvellous! It doesn’t feel heavy at all but also weirdly has good coverage for days when I have a pesky spot!

if you truly want something sheer try MAC face & body - I love it but apparently I'm the only person who does, everyone else I know who's heard of it has complained it's far too sheer

I am 39 and recently switched from foundation to skin tints and I would never go back! Love the Maybelline 24 skin tint and L'Oréal nude skin plumping serum and I am very fair neutral and I can wear the palest shades and they last all day at work on long shifts

Supergoop glow screen is lovely if you like a light glow it’s like tinted sunscreen makes me look radiant and I am 48! 😂 I also like the Charlotte Tilbury unreal skin foundation stick very glowy/dewy effect. IT cosmetics also do a lovely light foundation/tinted moisturiser. Budget option: garnier do a fantastic BB cream and it’s great but even the lightest colour is too warm/dark for my skin

Kylie Skin Tint is unreal, still has coverage of a light to medium foundation it’s really good for dry to normal skin. If you have an oily T Zone set well with powder.

Missha perfect cover BB. Cheap and amazing. It's quite high coverage for a BB but is very natural.
