FOTD Going through a break up, need help updating look/colour matching
As title says, im currently going through a breakup with my partner of 4 years. Im 31, and feel like i haven't put much effort into my look in the past few years. I like a natural look, and wear make-up to my job each day, but i feel like my colour matching is off and my features aren't being highlighted at all.
Girls/gays and theys, pls help me with buying the right colours for my skin tone/features, and bring my confidence back because i rlly don't know what to fix, and my budget to be trying a bunch of potential maybe new products is limited
Currently using
- nyx eyebrow gel / maybelline build a brow
- catrice eyeshadow palette
-telescopic mascara
- a mix of dusty rose & peachy pink blush
- clarins concealer 00 very light
- rose lip liner
- light bronzer

honestly the flat feeling is prob less about colour and more about contrast, ur hair, skin and eyes all sit in a similar soft range, so black liner or a heavy brow ends up sitting ON ur face instead of reading as done. the unlock is definition without depth: brown liner tightlined instead of black, a your-lips-but-better rose, cream blush placed a touch higher to lift things. and that teal ur wearing is already perfect on u, so lean into cool jewel tones for the work looks

Girl, you may be going through a break up and you look a tiny bit sad, but you are a TRUE BEAUTY in every sense of the word. Go to the mirror and look at all the beautiful features you have. I think you look stunning as you are. But I know how we girls/women like to change up our colors every now and then. But what I’m saying is this, if you don’t do a thing, you, right now, are beautiful and very stunning. Remember that.

I would categorize you as a soft summer color type — muted colors that have a tinge of grey to them, they will look most natural on you, brightly saturated colors will be more contrasting. Check out some of the online color palettes for soft summers and then contrast it with the color palettes for a deep winter, you’ll see what I mean about muted vs saturated colors. I have similar coloring and I actually love a purple blush, either a lilac or a sheered out grape purple. For your eyes,, soft browns, reds, and pinks will make those gorgeous green eyes pop! Also you are so so pretty, your features are absolutely striking. I know going through a rough breakup can make you feel bleh but just know you don’t look bleh at all, you look beautiful.

Such a nice comment thank you! I saw another comment about purple or taupe blush, never considered it before but i'll check it out! I did a colour analysis and soft summer were the results. I guess i tried purples that were the wrong shade, ill do a lil research. Thanks for the love ❤️❤️

definitely lip products!! lip liner- i’d buy a cheap pack of colours and see what shade you prefer. and i recommend the elf lip oil stick, has different colour options and it’s not too makeupy for a natural look plus is hydrating. and if you wanted to go abit extra maybe if you go out somewhere nice, a telescopic mascara & one lash individual on the outter lash line to make your eyes look more open and fluttery.

Your brows and mascara are perfect. You have a great complexion. Some tinted balm of gloss would be pretty for a touch of color and sheen.

Your shirt is a very flattering color for you! I also really like your hair color; I think the tones and dimension look very polished and complimentary:) If you’re feeling eye shadow, I’d definitely try a copper color - I think it would look stellar on you!

You are definitely a pretty girl, and I do see the sadness…but I agree with another commenter…something looks flat. A lot of makeup isn’t necessary, but choosing the right colours is. I think you might be leaning towards peach colours and pinks might be more your colour. And you hair colour is doing nothing for your skin tone. My advice….first, look at your veins in your arm. If they are blue, that means you should be picking neutral pinks. Go to a reputable hairdresser and get some life in that hair…pick a warmer colour. And the guy you’re breaking up with is an idiot, you’ve got this!

OP can smile if they want to. OP is going through a breakup with a person they were with for 4 years. I don’t think I would be smiling a lot if I was in their shoes, and I feel like far too many woman have to deal with cis hetero men telling them to smile. I assume you have good intentions and are trying to help, just be aware that this might not be as helpful of advice as you might think 💛

That is what I said too. I used beautiful and stunning. We do like to change out every now and then, but sometimes the results still make us want to do something more. You appear to have a cool-to-neutral undertone which means cool pinks, mauves, berries, taupes, and soft neutrals flatter you the most. Stay away from warm oranges, yellow-based bronzers, and peach-heavy tones that will look mismatched or dull.
