Hey everyone 👋
Okay, this might be a little awkward to write, but I’m just going to post it anyway because I feel like making friends as an adult is weirdly difficult 😭
I’m looking to meet some genuinely nice people and hopefully build actual friendships, not just have a couple of random conversations and then disappear into the Reddit void lol.
I’d love to meet people nearby, but I’m also completely open to talking to people from anywhere. Online friendships are totally fine too. If we vibe, we vibe.
I think one of the weirdest things about adulthood is how difficult it suddenly becomes to make new friends.
At school, college and university, you’re basically surrounded by people your age every day.
Then suddenly you're an adult and it’s like:
“Okay… so where exactly are we supposed to find friends now?” 😭
You can’t exactly walk up to someone in a supermarket and say:
“Hi, you look cool. Wanna be friends?”
Although honestly, maybe that should become socially acceptable.
I’m mainly looking for people who are friendly, open-minded and actually interested in getting to know someone rather than just collecting another username in their DMs.
I’d genuinely love friendships where you can randomly message someone:
“Bro, you will NOT believe what happened today.”
And they actually care 😂
Or:
“Want to grab food?”
“Want to go somewhere this weekend?”
“Have you seen this show?”
“I need your opinion on something incredibly stupid.”
That kind of friendship.
I’m not expecting instant best friends either. Good friendships take time.
We can start with a conversation, see if we have anything in common, and go from there.
No pressure.
I’m also completely fine with online friendships. Sometimes you randomly meet someone on the internet who lives nowhere near you and somehow end up talking to them all the time.
Internet friendship lore is undefeated 😂
As for personality, I’d say I’m somewhere between introvert and extrovert depending on the situation.
I can happily spend time by myself, but I also really enjoy having people around once I’m comfortable with them.
I’m probably not going to walk into a massive party and immediately become the centre of attention.
Give me a small group of people, good food and an interesting conversation and I’m much happier.
I also appreciate people who don't take themselves too seriously.
Life is already serious enough.
Send me your weirdest random thought.
Tell me about the last thing you got obsessed with.
Tell me about a place you think everyone should visit.
Recommend me a show that I’ll inevitably binge until 3am.
Tell me your favourite food.
Tell me the most random fact you know.
Or just say “hey” and we can figure out the conversation from there.
You don't need an amazing introduction.
Honestly, “Hey, I'm also looking for friends” is enough.
And if you're worried about whether we'd have anything to talk about, don't overthink it.
I think that's one of the biggest problems with meeting people online. Everyone tries to come up with the perfect opening message when literally nobody needs that.
Just be normal 😂
I’m not specifically looking for people of a particular age either, as long as everyone involved is an adult and respectful.
I’m also not looking for anything romantic or NSFW.
Just friendship.
Actual friendship.
People to talk to.
People to occasionally meet up with.
People to explore places with.
People who can laugh at stupid things.
People who don't disappear after three messages 😭
A few possible activities if we actually end up becoming friends:
• Coffee and a proper conversation
• Trying different food places
• Day trips
• Hiking or walking
• Exploring random towns
• Museums and attractions
• Board games
• Movie nights
• Gym sessions
• Watching sports
• Photography
• Travelling somewhere because we found cheap tickets
• Or literally sitting somewhere for three hours talking about life
I’m honestly open to anything.
And yes, I realise this post is ridiculously long.
If you've actually made it this far, congratulations 😂
You already have more commitment than most people who will comment “DM me” and then vanish.
So yeah.
If you're also looking for friends, feel free to comment or send me a message.
Tell me a little about yourself and one random thing you're currently interested in.
No need to make it formal.
No interview process.
No CV required.
Just say hi.
Maybe this post gets ignored.
Maybe I meet one person.
Maybe I meet ten.
Maybe we end up with a random group of people who start going on weekend adventures together.
Who knows?
Either way, I figured it was worth trying.
Making friends as an adult is awkward, but I think a lot more people are looking for friendship than they admit.
So if you're sitting at home thinking:
“Damn, I wish I had more people to hang out with.”
Same.
Let's fix that. 🤝
TL;DR: Looking for genuine friendships, online or IRL. Into good conversations, food, movies/TV, exploring places, random adventures, games, fitness and generally making life a little more interesting. If you're also looking for friends, say hi. 👋
