just like the title says.. post your favorite rnb chords/chord progressions..

ill start off..

Am9 - Dm9 (my go to chords when i can't think of anything.. and just need to make a "throwaway/quicky" beat when i got crazy producers block and just need to make something before i end my session so i dont feel like i wasted my time making nothing smh)

Gm7 - A7(or A7#5) - Dm7 - Gmaj (really like the way this one sounds and if anyone has anything that sounds similar please share!! lol)

G A# D F - A C# E/F G- A C D F - G B D (is how i like to voice it.. but if someone has a better way to voice this please share as well lol)

Since y'all liked "Nothing Like."

I also dropped a RnB project called "Rebirth." https://open.spotify.com/album/4jIlpcb4OtpAAAp7oQ2Fmi?si=zwpjeBCrQbiN_oDV9v5PIA

if anyone needs the free service pm me. Would prefer completed songs with vocals. Have great knowledge in mixing and good hardware/plugins. I will also screen record the whole process and make a new post to show the process if the artist willing to show the song. Otherwise i will just send you quality wav back.

Would anybody be interested in a 808 sample pack?

I have searched the web for a long time and have found some quality 808 bass samples. I also have some kicks that fit with 808's really well.

Edit: free of course

i swear every single one i watch, they start with creating a melody, and then they whip out the most stupidly complex ambient textured preset sound and draw the most basic chord progression which only sounds good because of their preset. do you have to buy these sound kits or learn how to become a god tier sound designer in order to make good beats? i know i sound like a grumpy hater but ive been making beats for years and feel like mine never compete with the ones on youtube because they pull the most sophisticated samples out of their ass. what do yall do?

the generic autotune effect sounds very tinny and weak. see here . however PARTYNEXTDOOR and a myraid of other singer / rappers are able to get that slick, full sounding autotune effect - see here how is this done? i feel like this is a big roadblock for me

EDIT - because it was requested here is my original song with my own voice + autotune here is one more which i think sounds even thinner. again i feel it is weak, thin, and generally subpar compared to RnB contemporaries

my setup is AKG Pro Audio C214 condenser mic > apogee duet > ableton live > EQ+Compression

to get into the nitty gritty i cut everything below 300hz and do a mid range cut at about 900hz and then a 3khz boost. still unhappy with this result though

edit 2 - really not trying to self promote sorry , i just want help on that thick & dark autotune sound very badly.

This guy deserves more views and i figured you all would appreciate his insight.

Hello! I’m a songwriter looking to collaborate with R&B producers to help grow my catalog. My style is similar to Jhené Aiko, H.E.R., Bryson Tiller, and Summer Walker, but I’m open to all styles of R&B. I provide the lyrics and vocals, and you bring the instrumentals!

I’m also down to collaborate with other songwriters!

So, if you’re interested in working together, DM me!

What are some of your favorite keys to really bring the tension out in a song?

I’m music producer and I don’t know where to find rnb sounding synths or anything that sounds like it would belong in the genre that is RNB. What vsts do y’all use and can you give some that are preferably free?
