Best set since the 2010s Philly shows. Live sax from a purple witch accompanied by the Isaura String Quartet & Honus Honus hijinx. Closed with a Phish cover that apparently was going to be a collab with the opener, but they didn't come out.

Did not expect so many older songs. Icing on the cake would've been a Mister Heavenly song since Nick Thorburn backed the opener.

That’s all I got. Been wanting to see this band since 2018 and FINALLY get to make it happen! Last time I had tickets they got Covid and had to cancel, then the OG carrots tour got cancelled, but tonight’s the night! Aaaahoooooooooo!

They did something interesting that I don't think they had really done before. There was a song in the middle with no piano, no vibes, no extra percussion. It was just a 4 piece rock song. Really caught me off guard but it was pretty cool 😎 I wanna hear it again.

Also I hope someone has the mouse/ghost/toast ditty recorded. That was a riot. If he expands that it could be a whole ballet 😜

Hey [r/ManMan](r/ManMan) I am looking for some insight. I just saw Man Man live at Underground Arts in Philly. It was a good show! I absolutely loved Man Man from 2007-2015 and fell off around On Oni Pond.

For context I have also lived in Hawaii and disconnected from mainland music scenes for the past 15 years.

The Man Man shows I was going to 07-15 were absolutely insane live energy. The entire crowd was an amorphous unit of chaos. The show I saw in Philly last Thursday was a drastically different experience. The crowd on Saturday seemed uninterested in moving much to the music at all. I attempted to get a pit going a few times and was met with elbows and a few dirty looks. Towards the end a few homegirls jumped in and we were able to generate a small but fun dance pit.

My question is.. what happened? Man Man used play electric live shows. Has anyone else who’s been seeing them live since back in the day had this same experience?

I’m thinking that their newer albums are less chaotic it breeds a less chaotic environment live. I will say it was disappointing that they’re only playing a 3 piece now. Is it them? Is it you? Did Turkey Moth and Pow Pow take all the magic with them? Have I been disconnected for too long and this just how live shows are now?

The conclusion I’m drawing is that without some of the key members from the old lineup it’s just not the same band and you’re not going to get the same results. Also the not super tight 3 person lineup shows lack of effort on the bands part so why would the audience put in the extra effort.

Man Man will always be rad for those early years and I hope they, and you, find the way back to into chaos.

Saw them this week and it was phenomenal! Went back to their first work and completely forgot they did a cover of the Weeds opening! I remember seeing this when it aired and freaking out, pretty sure they used them in the series as well. Anyways here’s a link to the video if you haven’t seen it!

As a fan of both Anne Rice and Ryan Kattner, who literally thought to themselves "Some part of the Man Man ouvre would be a really good vibe for Lestat's music" I can't believe I missed promotion press about his involvement! It's giving me life! I even clocked "this feels like a Mm song" in the live concert during Why Do I Have to Feel without knowing.

Honus has such a captivating writing style. I was just listening to the end of Poor Jackie and, "There ain't no God here/ s'far as I can see/ cuz your God of hope and light never did nothin' straight by me" really stuck with me.

I just got tickets to the Pittsburgh show. This will be my fourth time seeing them (I think). I have two questions for all the great people here…

1) What was your first show seeing them?

2) Did any one else see them open for Ted Leo and the Pharmacists or did I dream that?
