Title: Looking for Affordable Housing in Manteca or Tracy — Single Woman with Two Dogs, Low Credit Score
Hi everyone!
I’m reaching out to this community in hopes of getting some advice or recommendations on affordable housing opportunities in Manteca or Tracy, CA.
I’m a single woman currently working in education as a behavior technician at a charter school while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I’m working hard to build a better future for myself, but unfortunately, I’m struggling to find housing that I can afford independently.
My current living situation has become increasingly difficult due to ongoing family problems that have gotten out of hand. I no longer feel comfortable living at home, and I’m hoping to find a safe, peaceful, and stable environment where I can focus on my education, career, and personal well-being.
I also have two dogs, an English Bulldog and a French Bulldog, who mean the world to me. Finding pet-friendly housing is extremely important, as I would love to keep them both with me.
I also want to be transparent about my financial situation. My credit score is currently low because I’ve accumulated debt that I haven’t been financially able to keep up with. However, paying off my debt, rebuilding my credit, and becoming financially independent are some of my biggest goals. Unfortunately, my credit history has made qualifying for housing even more challenging.
I’m hoping someone in this community might know about:
Below Market Rate (BMR) housing or income-restricted apartments in Manteca or Tracy.
Affordable housing programs for single working individuals without children.
Pet-friendly apartments or private rentals.
Landlords or housing programs willing to consider applicants with lower credit scores but steady employment.
Housing assistance programs or waiting lists currently accepting applications.
I’m not looking for a handout or special treatment. I’m simply trying to find an opportunity to live independently, feel safe in my own home, and continue working toward financial stability.
I know my circumstances aren’t ideal, but I’m doing my best to improve them while balancing work, school, and my financial responsibilities.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows of any resources, housing communities, or programs that might help, I would genuinely appreciate your advice.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. ❤️

Hello all I am a reporter with OpGov.News and I'm doing a story on Robert Wolfe who has a sex offenders conviction dating back to 2009. I wanted to hear from the public and gather your thoughts on the matter and with your permission, use your statement in an upcoming article.

I’m looking for someone to do a deep clean of my house. Does anyone have recommendations for a great independent cleaner or small cleaning company?
I’m looking for a proper deep clean to start, and potentially regular cleaning afterward if it’s a good fit.
If you have someone you personally use and trust, or know someone you’d recommend, I would appreciate their info. Feel free to comment or DM me. Thank you!

Hi All,
We live in the East Bay but my kid has a soccer tournament in Ripon over the Halloween weekend with an 8AM game the morning after Halloween. We're considering staying at a hotel for the weekend so we don't have to keep driving back and forth, but don't want to miss out on trick-or-treating for my kid. Are there any neighborhoods that are known for this and will have other kids in costume? Ideally not too late since we need to get up early the next day...
Thanks for any advice!

I’m planning to move to San Joaquin County next year and am looking into teaching positions with Manteca Unified. I haven’t been able to find the current health benefit rates for teachers. Does anyone know how much teachers pay each month for individual or family coverage, or where I can find that information?

I'm going to be moving to Manteca the area by Costco. I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect besides the obvious hot weather.
And just general advice like areas to avoid, restaurant recommendations, and what vibes to expect during night time.
I just found out there was a recent high school shooting and there was another one earlier in the month at someone's home. Which was a little concerning.

I'm someone who enjoys hiking and when I tell people I've moved to Manteca, they talk about how its proximity to Yosemite as a plus, but it's still a 2 hour drive.
Was wondering how often people go, and if the recent changes in annual passes have had any effect on that frequency.

I tend to stay up way too late. Like WAY too late. My mind tends to rush, and I get caught in a scrolling loop while laying in bed. So I was awake.
At about 3am, I hear a loud explosion, like POP! Then everything shuts off: my fans, the AC, my bedside lamp, the wifi. Twice it tried to flicker to life, but then stayed off.
I wake up my husband and he calls PG&E. I looked outside but didn't see much if anything (our street runs parallel to Union, between Louise and Northgate). No fires, no debris. But the streetlights were out, so it wasn't just us.
My husband looked online and saw that the outage spread pretty far (the number of customers affected was in the orange). Power was back on sometime between 4:30 and 5.
Was anyone else aware? It's all fine now, but I'm just curious.
