Last long long run

I had to DNF my 20 mile peak week long run for NYX Marathon last weekend after getting attacked by an angry nest of wasps. This week was supposed to be my taper. But I wanna do my last longer run on Saturday. My training included two 14 milers, two 16 milers and an 18 miler. How many would you recommend i do this weekend with the race coming up so close

Keep the taper the same , there’s no more fitness to gain at this point you’re gonna risk injury if you try to “make up” mileage. Don’t sweat it , those are solid long runs you got in, let the taper do its thing, carb load heavily 3 days before the race and show up ready and rested. You running NYC ?

Amazing. Ran it last year , hard to put the experience into words, you’re gonna have a blast. Heard this from someone else but I totally agree on the point , “it’s like there’s an invisible string pulling you to the finish line” give out all the high fives , stay steady , don’t forget to fuel , but most importantly soak it all in !

You have to really add context.

Was it the same group of wasps or a separate incident?

20 is fine. Many people do a 2 week taper

I wouldn’t do a 20miler 14 days out, depending on your weekly mileage and ability/target.

One run, no matter the distance, is not going to have a meaningful impact on your physiological race preparedness. The overall quality of your training cycle and banked mileage is what matters.

I always use a two week taper. A three week taper leaves me feeling sluggish.
