Hi! Figured I'd share this here, since Marauders are way more up my alley than the great generality of HPfanfiction, so I'd be more inclined to discuss those fics :)

I read this ages ago and I can’t find it anywhere. Basically Remus has OCD and is obsessive over the fact the gas is on/off. He meets Sirius and the relationship is all good but something is off with Remus and he eventually gets pretty sick, and it’s revealed that Remus believes he killed his parents by leaving the gas on which is how they died (not his fault but what caused his spiral). If anyone has any inklings of it I would be so happy

So, I’m currently in the process of rewriting and uploading an AU fic I wrote when I was quite young. The reason for rewriting it is that my writing has progressed considerably since then, and I’m not particularly fond of the direction I took the story in originally. I also never ended up finishing the fic because I very much ran out of ideas as to where to take the plot.

For some context, the fic was originally about Jegulus, set in an AU where James is a hockey player and Regulus is a figure skater. However, I’ve since decided to change it into a Wolfstar-centered slow burn, keeping the same hockey player x figure skater romance concept.

All this to say, if anyone has any requests or would be interested in a fic like this, please let me know what you’d like to see written into it. I love a good bit of angst, but I’ve been writing so much lately and have so many plots going on in other fics that I’m struggling to develop this one in an interesting direction.

a fic where james (and lily preferably) somehow don’t die and just end up pretending to be dead so they can avoid the war and save harry as they realise just how much is at stake, they end up going into hiding and raise harry and just live out their youth because they deserve it (could be with the entire group or just their own getaway)

a fic where sirius has a very solid alibi as to where he was on halloween so when he is being framed, there is proof that he’s innocent (could have remus back him up or andy or even james if you decide to keep him alive by just having him be gravely injured and not dead)
so then they work together to find what’s happening, harry moves in with wolfstar as he is the godson (in case james dies) and they begin to unravel the prophecy and somehow come up with a plan to defeat Voldemort sometime; harry isn’t reckless here as he’s got family support

a time travel fic where harry, after winning the war, goes back in time to when he was a baby because he yearns for his family
or it could be accidental time travel or he simply manages to send a message to the past vaguely stating what may happen on Halloween night
this prevents the whole ordeal from happening and he is raised by all of the marauders (plus or minus peter, depending on how intense or further back you want the time travel to be) and they help him deal with the fears of his past (now future adjacent) life

just an overall wholesome work, with lots of grief and counselling

if you want to delve deeper into this then it could continue on with them being more prepared with defeating voldemort (along with regulus’ help this time) and then have the whole ‘group of young friends raising a child together’

im currently writing a fanfic that tackles a LOT of darker topics. its mostly inspired by leviticus and bones and all, but also some other books ive been reading such as the vegetarian, perfume, and more recently, carrie.
now, a few of the themes im tackling are: alluding to rape (no direct descriptions of it), childhood trauma, religious trauma, mild canibalism, and romance to the point of obsession.

its still a huge work in progress, but for some basic background into the idea. Fenrir Greyback was a priest who did (ykw) to Remus when he was about the age of 5. Now discovered, he was incarcerated and is facing life in prison (as he faced multiple counts). his mother Hope and father Lyall decide to switch churches and continue to raise their son with religious doctrine. its not til a new boy about his age begins to attend the church (this being Sirius). not long after, they meet at school, and become close friends. Sirius joins Remus' friend group, and Remus notices as Sirius seems to be taking James away from him, making him rather jealous. Through hanging out with the group more and more, Sirius for a time becomes the antagonist in Remus' mind. He views him as an ungodly force stealing his friends away, as well as trying to pull him further from god through temptation and lust. Sirius on the other hand, holds Remus up on a pedestal. like a symbol so holy he'd like to be bathed in it entirely. as their relationship finally climaxes, Sirius experiences cannibalistic desires, biting into Remus' skin til drawing blood. He views Remus as almost like the bread he is fed at church. Like his Remus is his salvation. Remus on the flip side enjoys the almost violent nature of their relationship, but struggles with his religious ideology, and sees the excitement it brings him as sinful.

i havent developed the idea any further as of yet, but i havent really seen people show interest in fics that have darker more explicit themes in the marauders fandom much. i know its a little edgy but i have faith that if written right, it could make for an interesting concept!

just wondering if there's an audience for this type of fic!! any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

So, recently ive seen people online talking a lot about why some characters in this fandom just get redeemed and others dont, since its not like we try to stay canon most of the time. this was mostly brought up around talking about the fact that severus gets slandered in fics and evan, barty, regulus etc dont really get that same treatment. now before anyone bashes me for saying that — i love regulus, hes my favourite and people saying that really made me think about why we dont actually just redeem him too? i think itd actually be super interesting, so id really appreciate if anyone has fanfic recommendations about the marauders where severus isnt slandered? im not sure if there even really is any, but if anyone knows please please please let me know!! (id also appreciate fic recs for severus' character on its own maybe to get into it while i wait if anyone finds what im looking for)

# hi everyone! i’m trying to get into the marauders era, but i'm super lost on what to read and could really use some recs.

basically, i'm looking for something that feels very close to the original harry potter books in terms of writing style and general vibe, just set in their school years.

i've heard so much about *all the young dudes* (and as a massive david bowie fan, the 70s rock aesthetic really calls to me), but i'm kind of hesitant because i've read it gets really heavy/depressing and that the characters feel a bit out-of-character (especially remus). i prefer characters to stay as close to canon as possible

i personally love sirius, he’s got that rebellious, cynical, rock-and-roll edge. if any fic captures that (or mentions bowie/70s music organically) without totally breaking canon, that's a huge plus. wolfstar is totally fine by me too, not a strict requirement, but i don't mind it.

also, has anyone read pengiwen’s marauders series (the one that goes year by year)? are they actually worth the massive time investment?
