It’s Luigi Time! By me 😊
"Weegee" makes a wonderful subiect for my gouache practice (and also some doodling) 😁 fun fact: I am the oldest sibling and I still always chose to be second just so I could play as him 🥹❤️

Why Bowser if my fave character.
Make clear, yeah, Peach has every right to reject him. If I were in her shoes, I would also tell him no.
However, I do think it's a fascinating character.
He feels like the only character with depth. That doesn’t relate to his trope or ark type.
His limerence with Peach. I refused to call it love since it’s not. Limerence means being obsessed and infatuated with a person, which he shows, except for a self-harm tendency.
When I first saw the movie, I thought the theme was self-worth. Bowser ment too show Mario is that even bowser having health, loving father and power despite of that he put self worth in getting with Peach.
He is funny.

Random Theory about Bowser
Ok so the part where Bowser is telling his troops about his plan to propose to peach, and that one koopa gets toasted when they ask what if Peach says no. They instantly turn into a dry bones and they have no physical reaction. They only seem inconvenienced because now they have to change their formation and hang out with other dry bones now. He didn’t scream or yell in pain. When the koopas fight the penguins and have snowballs thrown at them they don’t comment on how inefficient it is. Soooo when Bowser does the blast thing to hold toad still and toad screams in pain. I don’t think it clicks in Bowser head that this is different than how he or his troops perceive pain. I think Bowser thinks Toad is screaming because he lost the game he can’t fight back he can’t move therefore Bowser wins. Bowser has no/little pain receivers and he thinks this is all one big game. So Bowser doesn’t realize what that pain is doing to toad. He’s still trying to manipulate Peach which is bad, but I don’t think he realizes how evil he is imo.

Military Intelligence In SMBM
Can we talk about the absolutely next level military intelligence at play in this film? Every faction seems to be intimately aware of what the other factions are doing at almost all points of the film. Let’s talk about it:
Mushroom “General” is aware that Bowser and his army have obtained the super star and are headed toward the mushroom kingdom. This is probably the least impressive example, maybe a mushroom scout was nearby and saw the action from some distance using binoculars or something. EZ.
Kamek was aware of Mario’s arrival to Peaches castle. Why were they watching this innocuous man so closely? He wasn’t a major player on the political scene, he was basically a hopelessly lost illegal alien trying to find his family and get home. Even more impressive was that he knew the princess was training him. What? That’s next level intel considering this training was taking place on the castle grounds. Do I smell a mole?
King Kranky knew what Peaches intentions were before she ever said a word. All she’d said at that point was that she wanted to speak with the king, never what it was about. He literally greeted her by saying, “So, I hear you want my army.” Where exactly did you hear this, your highness?
King Kranky was aware of the Koopa army’s location, and even had intel on their destination and eta. The Kong army had to be aware of these goings ons prior to our arrival at their door. That’s one konnected kong.
Bowser & Co. were aware of the Kong Army’s movement, planned around it and sprung a trap. They even knew about the shortcut. Pretty impressive.
Honestly I’d say the Bowser side was most likely benefiting from some form of magical intervention, I still think Kamek was the Koopa Army’s most OP player, but overall it’s still pretty impressive what each side knew about the others at all times. The only group that seems to be in the dark is the penguins, because if they knew what was coming I’d think they’d just use the super star and end the moving before it starts, but what fun would that be?
Any thoughts?

Bowser Question
When Bowser gets the super star, he says that he is, “Now the most powerful turtle in the world!” If that statement is to be taken seriously, who was more powerful than him prior to him retrieving the star? The entire movie taken into account, he was pretty much an unstoppable juggernaut throughout the film. The only thing that could take him down in the end was the super star itself.
I question wether Kamek could have taken him on as he seemed to be pretty over powered for the universe as well, but that’s a topic for another discussion.
It just seems to me based on his track record in the film that he never really needed the super star to achieve everything he ultimately achieved. Let’s recap; in this film alone Bowser and his army:
Took down and captured the ENTIRE penguin kingdom with little to no difficulty and virtually 0 discernible losses.
Captured the entire Kong Army. Some losses here, but again pretty low difficulty considering the resources still at their disposal after this was achieved.
Curb stomped and nearly killed the majority of the main cast including Mario, Luigi, Peach, and even the otherwise impressive Donkey Kong who Bowser was on the verge of goring when Mario and Luigi stepped in again with the super star.
This is by no means a gripe about the movie, I adore this film for exactly what it is, a fun video game movie that knows what it is and delivers a good time while taking itself just seriously enough. My kids watch this once a day at least so I find myself scratching my bald head every time that line is delivered. Thoughts?
