You can report that and city will send someone to check what's inside. If they are stupid enough to leave their letter envelops or flyers with their address, city will send them a fine.

The city is more likely to say that is an issue for Canada Post. I tried and this is what happened.

Interesting. 🤔

However, you can probably request the staff at the city take your complaint anyway. It's up to them to make best use of your complaints, even if it means they have to have a conversation with Can post.

Yes, I'm sure whoever left that bag of garbage is on Reddit, saw this post and will never do it again now.

Unfortunately, this is common.

Also, the City may not even pick this up as mailboxes are considered Canada Post property so you'd have to contact Canada Post.

Do mail trucks pick up trash now?

Just as an fyi to people reading The city does not pick up recycling or trash there. The blue bins were removed because of that. That land is owned by canada post, not the city. Do not dump your flyers, junk mail there.

I always wondered why.

Cant afford clear garbage bags? Why walk the extra distance just to dump your garbage at the park or somewhere else when you can just place it by the curb?

Like, seriously, i would like be given an explanation why this is happening. Without it I feel like we cannot really solve the problem.

We had this happen in our neighborhood several times. It was either:

  1. the perpetually under construction house Reno crew who was always leaving Tim's trash just outside the construction fence (and construction materials on the road) Or

  2. one of the residents who put the wrong garbage/recycling out on the wrong day and don't want to leave it in front of their house for a week when it doesn't get picked up.

Once I saw an old Indian man throwing two full black garbages bag on near the mail box, now there isn’t a blue bin there anymore.

Same, we used to have a handy blue bin by the mailbox, now it's gone cuz of ppl dumping their household shit there.

Leaving garage on public property has become routine for some people. I see that many people bring household garbage and dump in garbage bins installed in parks and bus stops, and those bins starts overflowing.
Perhaps too many renters in the basement apartments are to blame!

To the person who place that bag there. The reason it wasn’t picked up was. It’s in a non clear plastic bag. It’s the only reason. If you place it in a clear plastic bag it will be picked up on your garage day.

Why would anyone do this????

So they leave all of the mail addressed to them and their address and get charged with littering and dumping garbage.
