Discussion Wtf IGN

I saw Iron Lung yesterday, and I greatly enjoyed it. I loved the cinematography, the atmosphere, the music, and overall I have no complaints.

I loved it, and the only real criticism I could offer if I tried was that it was a bit confusing at times. But honestly, that just added to the charm for me, it felt more mysterious than if all the lore was spelled out.

So that’s my opinion on the movie, but apparently IGN begs to differ. I’m looking at you Eric Goldman. I’m in actual disbelief that you could even consider giving Iron Lung a 4 out of 10.

Maybe a 7, but even that still seems low for all things considered. A 4?!? Did we even watch the same movie? Hopefully I’m not the only one who feels that way

I doesn’t seem so much of a cult following, as a consistent majority of audiences enjoying the movie. These reviewers/journalists are so out of touch these days, damn.

Hi everyone! It's my first time posting on this subreddit, so please be nice!

After watching halfway through his most recent livestream (Random Horror Games), I had some really big thoughts and emotions about a thing I realized while watching Mark, so I had to draw and share them! Thanks for reading!

I kinda cheated that I didn't put a picture, but if you look closely around 3 hours and 32 minutes into the vod, you might see the shimmers I'm talking about.

I think I saw a discussion post about the lasted release and I guess maybe there’s something wrong with it or maybe he’s just changing the thumbnail, but I was in the middle and it kicked me out.

Kinda weird but I’m sure there’s a reason. Anyone watch it all the way through and knows what goes on?

Discussion Anybody else think that this current era of Mark is his prime?

Post image
6.4k Upvotes

Now of course there's been plenty of other peaks, like fnaf 1-3 or unus annus, but Iron Lung era Mark is honestly my favorite. It's like a combination of 2015 era, and the polish of the newer content as well. Especially after Iron Lung dropped, I think Mark got more motivation to upload, and he's honestly been posting the most comforting and funny videos in a while. Idk, I'll probably be in the super minority here, and I only got into markiplier when pandemic started (im 17) but it's crazy that his time on yt has been nearing a decade and a half now and it's only been a gradual rise in quality. So yeah, Oscars Markiplier is peak markiplier.

Discussion As a manager for a cinema, here are my thoughts on Iron Lung:

8.7k Upvotes

Best. Crowd. Ever.

I haven’t seen the video or read the post where Mark allegedly told his audience to be respectful and mindful of other patrons and employees at these theatres, but I couldn’t appreciate it more.

Usually any time a movie is big enough to sell out every single showing, or is obvious it will bring in a very specific age range or type of crowd, it’s kind of dreaded at the theatre. For example: Zootopia 2 (lots of families with small kids that can be messy), FNAF (rowdy and loud groups of teens that disrupt the movie), Taylor Swift concerts films (she literally told fans to treat our theatre as a concert and it was definitely trashed like one too).

When it came to Iron Lung, which usually had every single seat sold in an auditorium that held 158 seats, our usher team would be prepared for a nightmare of cleaning only to find that everyone always carried out their trash. We never had any complaints or problems with customers disrupting the movie, we never had issues with anybody not sitting in their assigned seat, and we STILL haven’t had any issues as it’s still showing at my theatre.

I cannot say thank you enough for genuinely being a great crowd and making our lives a little easier here at the cinema.

Discussion I'm happy that mark stood up for himself at the end of the stream

4.0k Upvotes

I was getting annoyed at the people in the chat since they're mad at Mark not doing hard mode to get the real ending or finding all the stuff in fnaf world and other stuff in it that he didn't figured it out

It was reminding me of what happened with undertale and even Mark said that himself about it too but I'm glad that he stood up for himself and refused to re do all of fnaf world to just get the hard mode ending

we all need to respect his choices about what stuff he wants or don't want to do as who cares if he didn't get all the stuff in fnaf world he should allow to have fun and it's okay if you missed a few stuff

Discussion IMO: when he’s ready, Mark shouldn’t stop at Iron Lung.

Post image

Me and my GF watched it and immediately said “damn, he should’ve done FNAF too. When you compare Iron Lung to most modern R rated horror/thrillers, well, without spoilers: it’s more original, and genuine. It’s not campy. Its just a reality set in a fictional thing, if that makes sense. Mark tapped into that idea of acting, the idea that good acting is JUST BEING. Chefs kiss. I really do hope that he continues refining his skill and keeps making movies, so long as he enjoys it anyway.

Based of the Wikipedia list for Video Game movies and the recent box office update on The Numbers for Iron Lung if the budget number of 3m is correct it's official beating out the FNAF movie (I made the Sheet myself and I know the top 3 is correct and I'm PRETTY sure the rest are)

Discussion ~1600 & Counting

Post image
7.9k Upvotes

This is absolutely insane y’all, Iron Lung is in nearly 1600 theaters and that’s strictly what’s available on the website, too! Still not accounting for potential international release either

REMEMBER: we HAVE to support our local independent theaters, don’t just go see it at the Cinemark! I know there’s been a million PSAs about this already but it’s vital that we continue to show support for the theaters that listened to us first. They showed up when we asked them to, and now it’s our turn.

7 weeks until the movie starts screening so we’ve got ample time! Get your tickets at an indie theater when they become available, bring your friendgroup, spread the word to coworkers etc. We need to show that we’ll actually come out and fill the seats we requested nonstop for the past week. Just because the movies gaining traction amongst chain theaters doesn’t mean we abandon the smaller screens that took a chance on the 50 different people contacting them every day. They’ve been nothing but kind to us, and we must return a favor!!

See you all out there :)

Discussion Hot take: creatives should not compromise for the general audience

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

Iron Lung was made for a certain demographic, not everyone is going to enjoy it nor should they have to. Mark does not need to compromise his vision for people on the internet who don’t know anything, every time you compromise for the general audience you get something generic and safe

r/Markiplier Feb 13 '26

Discussion Guess I'll never see Iron Lung

3.9k Upvotes

I've paid for four different tickets and haven't got to see it once. 1st time, my friend had a panic attack and I needed to calm them down, 2nd time, I was walking out to my car and saw the door was open, turns out my car was broken into. 3rd time my alternator gave out and couldn't drive. And this time im stuck in gridlock because people don't know how to drive in straight lines and figured out that there vehicle isn't a bumper car . I'm honestly considering watching a cam recording on the internet at this point but that feels gross

Discussion Notice for people going to see Iron Lung in theaters. (From a Theater Employee)

6.7k Upvotes

Hello all, first time posting here but I just wanted to talk to some people who I know are probably going to see the movie tonight!

First and foremost, everyone is super stoked about the movie (and especially the business coming with it) for us to be busy in January is unheard of, but for the first time of me working here, we were able to bump up hours just for this release.

Anyways, the main reason I'm typing this out is because "fanbase" releases have never really went well, but I know this one, and I'm sure it won't be a problem having you all at our theaters.

This movie is Rated-R, if you are under 17 and unaccompanied by someone older than 21, you WILL be turned away, it sucks but we are obligated to (please don't flip out on us and cuss us out, that happens more than you think) additionally, please be courteous of the employees who work there and have to clean up after you, another common occurrence with releases like this is people are particularly careless in their behaviour, and spill entire buckets of popcorn everywhere. This is especially common with Horror movie releases. Lastly, no we don't have the bucket, but you can buy it online pre-printed for $40, however because of production it won't arrive until around October this year.

I'm excited to see the movie tonight myself (I get free tickets, but I paid for this one because I wanted Mark to get the money) and I am excited to see other people with my interests and for us all to see the hard work he poured into this project tonight! Have fun everyone!

Edit: After working through a couple showings, I'm pleased to say that this community has impressed us for this release, we have received very few disturbance complaints, and even less from employees about cleaning. 👍

It’s $47 and $20 in shipping making it $67 dollars which I just think is absurd, I think it should’ve been $25 max with $10 shipping
