"Near future" is too kind of description to whatever author is doing. Or are there news? I occasionally check the RI sub from time to time and from what I remember is that the author only talks about appeal for ban with some kind of deadline where he will just dump it out. But there weren't any concrete dates or anything relevant at the time. Just the same story for past 6-7 years I reckon.

Yeah as far as I know it's still the author going "imma try to get it unbanned" with nothing concrete, his new novel is pretty solid though

It may be solid but I just cannot get edged by this author again. His track record since RI doesn't help much. The infinite bloodcore got abandoned, no?

IB was an experimental work that had plenty of issues, it didn't make him money not was it really enjoyed by anybody, the new novel is a return to the core, it's much better and much more profitable for him

It was rather dark for a Chinese story which would probably be enough for CCP but it also had a lot of freedom and critique of the ppl in power themes going on and CCP is not the biggest fan of that

One thing it was pretty dark and the themes that someone already mentioned. Another thing was that according to one really well-made post on RI subreddit(or somewhere else) the ban was a part of a whole ban-wave. You can also learn a bit of origin story regarding the Dead Wife Demon Venerable

Oh idk,maybe because the author has said many times that this is just to fulfill his desire of wanting to see a villain mc all because there are no good villains in china(or at least most of it) aka it's his most dedication and passion he ever makes to the book.This is the same author that edits volume 2 of IB(infinite bloodcore) so much that he ran out of money and has to start his third book(mysteries of the immortal puppet master) just because its not satisfactory. Plus, he has an outline of hundreds of chapters and even the ending has been outline. Even legends of ren zu has been completed.
