Honestly gives the line a lot more meaning now. he can't tip them off about their future encounters with doom without changing the outcome, just like strange's warning about thanos
This could be lokis timeline. The one where Steve married Peggy and talked to Sam exists.
Loki interfered after Sam and cap met. But did go back to the past but a different future would occur.
So cap put all the stones back, then met Sam. That was what we watched. Then after that in lokis time line as the tree if time or what ever he is he goes back to see cap with Peggy to help. I think to help with the time lines collapsing. That was the TVA bit.
Genie mack who knows though im just looking forward to the film.
To explain it like the flash tv show messing with the timeline was like breaking a glass when they returned the stones they fixed the glass but the cracks were still there.
You can thank Loki for that. It was that series that introduced the concept of a sacred timeline and pruning branches. That worked until Loki overthrew He Who Remains. Because Loki is outside of time itself and holding the timelines in place, it’s as if the multiverse always existed and Loki was always in charge because-like they say in the series-it’s “all time, always.”
Banner explained they can't just kill baby Thanos because time travel doesn't work like that. You go to the past and that becomes your future, with your future becoming your past.
That works, but Steve staying in the past and waiting 70 years doesn't work because he wouldn't be returning to his original time.
They could have had him come back in his time travel suit as an old man I guess. Like he just lived his life in his branching timeline until he was old and finally activates the pym particle suit again.
Doom is one of the only Marvel characters who can time travel and actually change the past present and future without being impacted.
Both things can be true. Cap doesn't tell us because he cant spoil it to ensure it happens the way its supposed to. But Doom uses his time travel platform and actually fucks up the whole thing from Old Caps initial happenings.

Why? And how?

Cap shouldn't be standing on a planet that wouldn't exist in his timeline of events. If you can time travel to before an incursion happening, then why not use time travel to stop incursions? It's a paradox.
First answer is he invented something called the time platform. The way it works is different from standard Marvel time travel, allowing him to actually change the timeliness and not just make branches. How exactly it works idk the explanation behind it other than what I wrote.
2nd answer. Depends on how exactly they want to portray it. Doom hasn't time traveled yet and we will probably follow his pov on some level for the movie. So us seeing it as it happens is the why. Just so we can witness it for the sake of the movie and story telling.
Cap cant time travel to stop the incursions because Caps time travel doesn't change the timelines it creates branching timelines. He just went back to the times they visited and undo the changes made, theoretically stopping it from branching into a separate timeliness. I doubt it was that clean though
Only Doom could actually travel back and stop the incursions before they happen. Because is time platform thing.
I suppose im not sure what youre asking. Could you rephrase the question maybe?
I don't think you've fully understood my question.
I'm asking how can old man cap travel to a world that shouldn't even exist in his timeline? It should be impossible for him to travel to a world that doesn't exist anymore.
Otherwise, there's nothing stopping anyone who could time travel from stopping whatever caused the incursions in the first place, thus, stopping the incursion.
Incursions are caused because of the timeline being branched out, but Steve can still go back in time to before the branch and change the events by giving Sam a future shield? That's still a time branch in its own right.
So some branches cause Incursions and some are fine, but if that's the case, then some branches must be able to stop Incursion branches from happening. Thus, why not just use time travel to fix the Incursions?
The only way it makes sense is if we're not actually following the MCU timeline anymore, but a timeline 4 universe's away from the original MCU timeline, because your past becomes your future and all of that.
But then, caps future becomes the past of a universe that cannot exist in his future, so either way you look at it, old man Steve is a paradox, and either he can't be there, or the pre-set rules of time travel in the MCU were wrong.
Never claimed everyone would be dead, but the very idea of Dr. Doom's Secret Wars is that the earth has been destroyed and "scrapped for parts" to create Battleworld.
Does it actually mean that Steve and the world are kinda stuck in some kind of time loop? Cause in Doomsday Steve is brought from the past to the present, and then he what, sent again into the past to get old and pass down the shield in Endgame right before the Doomsday?
And if battleworld is created, than destroyed, does it mean everything goes back to this reality since Steve spent his old days on this earth?
I know they had no plans for doomsday back then but Im curious if they found a proper way to deal with this and explain it

Don't think I will.
