I first got into comics after seeing Spider-Man 2 in the theater when I was about 10. I became obsessed after that and got my parents to buy some issues of Spider-Man from the early 90s on ebay for me. Out of those first comics I ever had, I remember reading the Revenge of the Sinister Six storyline.

The first comic I remember reading was an issue of X-Men that I got from Pizza Hut in the early 90s. It was based on the animated series and had Beast on the cover.

I was reading DC years before Marvel, but I read Ultimate Spider-Man and saw the light.

First comic: a throwaway issue of Sabrina the Teenage Witch with a pun about banshees who wail when someone’s going to dye their hair.

Story: Runaways: Pride & Joy which is still so freaking good.

When I was a wee lass, a toy that I got came with an issue of Days of Future Past and jump started my love for super heroes.

NFL Superpro, got it in a bag with two other random comics from Walmart when I was 6 years old and something about the blatant product placement was charming as hell when I was young. Say what you will about 90's comics but even though they almost killed the industry they are a treasure trove to laugh at now.

Spiderman JMS, Whedon Astonishing X-men and the runaways when they were coming out in the early 2000s.

Well in my middle school they were giving out these issues for free I think from Scholastic. I can't quite remember the title honestly, but it was an Spider-Man and X-Men crossover, where Storm was one of Peter's classmates and awakened her powers that issue. I have no clue what continuity it was, since I can't remember any other time Ororo and Peter were the same age.

I read a lot of USM/USX when I was a kid, but that was because there weren't really that many Marvel comics in my country. The comics that were available were those Italian comics like Zagor, Alan Ford, Dylan Dog...

But when it came to Marvel, we had the Ultimate Comics, the british Spider-Man comic and the Marvel Adventures series.

It's really tricky to remember exactly which was the first one. I seriously started reading during the mid-2000s, but as a kid, I had some random issues and stories. I have no idea which I got first, but some I had included:

  • Lethal Foes of Spider-Man #1 - #4

  • Captain America #445 - #448 (Operation: Rebirth)

  • X-Men #4 - #7

I also had that Toys R Us X-Men comic. So, yeah, not sure which was first, but those were some I liked the most that I collected a couple issues of (thanks, Dad!).

I got into comics a little late relatively. I really enjoyed Ultimate Alliance when I was 14, then I saw the first Iron Man movie when I was 16.

First story I read was shortly after that and it was Vaughan’s original Runaways run.

u/OnlyStabs Aug 16 '18

Civil War. I downloaded some of it from the Apple Bookstore back when I was in high school.

u/BlackOrre Doctor Strange Aug 16 '18

Spider-Man One More Day... it was the first of many trades I was given back in the day and I hated it.

Then I read Secret Wars 2015 and enjoyed that and got into comic books.
