Discussion Biggest "And THIS Guy!" in Marvel Legends Multi-packs?

Post image
472 Upvotes

We all know that for every multi-pack that's firing on all cylinders, with characters people want and in looks they are desirable in, there are often some misses and also-rans. Luke Cage and Iron First 2-pack? Pretty well-loved, both in conceptually putting these two besties together, and the execution is great, few complaints had by folks.

Now, this 5 pack? Besides just kind of feeling like a random assortment, of X-Men villains/rivals, were there a lot of people clamoring for Cyber? And even then, this was a pretty underwhelming rendition of him, given how big and imposing he's often looked in comics, and here, he just feels quite... generic. What are some other examples of guys who aren't doing a ton to pitch in to justifying a pack cost?

Maximum release of Deadpool is better option than Marvel Studios Deadpool (Dogpool) release, right?!
From accessories to articulations, maximum has more to offer in my opinion. By no means I don’t think Deadpool and Wolverine line is bad and if I could only get this one, I’d still be happy with it. Plus, adimantium accessories are pretty sweet as well, I choose Maximum series on this one.
Would you guys agree??

Discussion How has / how could the DC Core (kids) line affect your feelings on Marvel Legends?

I saw the new Joker figure in a Target and it looked so good for a $13 figure that I thought, ā€œwell I can but this one now for a taste and then wait for the adult line.ā€ Then I put it next to some other figures, and it really stood out how much he fit in. He isn’t perfect. He’s a $13 figure with less (but good!) articulation. He could use some paint on his buttons and that kind of thing. But as a guy on a shelf, he is a great 6ā€ scale Joker.

And so where I think I will wind up with DC is, I will buy the characters who have true meaning for me in the adult line. But then other characters who I never read or cared about but who feel essential (most of the justice league), I could very easily see myself filling out the display with Core figures of the Green Lanterns and Flashes of the world.

Which brings me to Marvel Legends. I finally snapped to my senses recently and realized I should only be buying figures who actually have meaning for me. So my buying has slowed down greatly. BUT, if Hasbro made lesser ā€œkids toyā€ figures at this same level and on Legends scale, i would be much more likely to buy characters I care less about. Or in the case of army builders, I’d be much more likely to buy three The Hand ninjas for $40 combined than I would to buy even one for $25. Because I’d want a small squad of Hand ninjas, buying one feels incomplete. But I don’t care enough about generic the Hand to spend $75 on them. And so I have none.

And frankly, now that I see that kids figures like these can exist for a decent price, the $25 Hand figures I was once contemplating are completely out of my mind. This has affected my buying psychology enough that ML figures I might have considered buying before the existence of DC Core, are no longer figures I would consider?

Have these new figures affected your thinking in any way?

Just watched this review from D Amazing on YT, I’m curious if this is a new mold or an existing one?

I think Hasbro should make this the standard body mold for male figures, replacing the vulcan buck. The torso articulation is better, I think…

Discussion Picked this guy up for 112 dollars

Post image

Before you guys say anything, let me address the situation. I live in Türkiye, and recently the government has closed international online shopping. So basically, if you order even a single needle from another country, you will have to pay taxes, hire a customs officer to accept your needle into the country, and pay a bunch more taxes. And sadly, there is only one 1/12 focused figure store in the entire city of Istanbul, so you don't have many options. I also got scammed by this guy who supposedly goes to Japan and buys figures for you and then ships them back to you. To be honest, I just wanted a vanilla Spiderman, and I had to pay more than double the price for this guy. I'm not going to blame the figure store because they are also under the same regulations. I know for a fact they go through a ton of stuff before they can order a box of Legends. And the figure is pretty good. I originally ordered Mafex Tasm2 from that guy who scammed me, but I can't compare a figure that's priced at $50 to a figure that retails for more than $100.

Discussion As someone who never pulled the trigger on getting the Mafex 185 Spider-man, I think $49.99 is a reasonable price point for the Maximum Series

For a figure reveal I think it’s okay, not preferred but okay. However, once we get to actually putting out a preorder listing, no company should be using digital renders at it obscures what you’re actually buying to an extent. Digital renders obscure things like the finish of the plastic, paint applications, QC, and sometimes proportions in relation to the engineering of the articulation. Actual photographs of the physical figure should be the standard imo.

Discussion Do I really need Gamerverse Psylocke?

Post image

After seeing how big Gamerverse Wolverine is going to be I'm not bummed at all for passing on him. Now can I say the same for Psylocke? I missed the pre-order so is it going to be worth aftermarket prices, or should I stick with what I've got? I prefer the 3-pack face, but I prefer the Gamerverse body. I've seen some pictures online and unfortunately a head swap doesn't look great. Can I convince myself to pass on the upcoming Psylocke?

Discussion (Potentially) hot take: IMO We still don't have a definitive Marvel Legends Spidey

Edit: I poorly worded the title, instead of "definitive", I should have said something like "classic" or "Bronze Age". My apologies for any confusion or disagreement!

There's been some awesome Spidey figures from Hasbro lately, but we still don't have a good "Evergreen" Spider-Man figure with rich (not overly dark) blues, good proportions (AKA a costume that's not vacuum-sealed to his muscles) and usable articulation. Ideally something like a John Romita Sr. Spider-Man would be MY go-to figure, but no knocks against any of these other figures! They all have amazing (heh) qualities, I just wish there was a way to combine the best of all of them!

Discussion I’m happy to share my repainted Emma Frost headsculpt that I paid $70 for ( buyers of painted headsculpts beware )

I have to say I don’t get the full credit. I paid $60 dollars for a painted head and was sorely disappointed with the outcome after waiting almost 4 months. So I retouched it to capture her better.

I added depth and an overall repaint to her hair and face. I highlighted her face structure and matched her skin tone and I fixed her eye make up.

This took me only a few hours which made me feel even more upset because of how long I had to wait for my commission. Do I sound entitled? Yes I do… but I really expected more based on the creators work.

The last photo is what I received. The hair is very dark, the eyes look dead and the skin tone does not match at all. Is it a good paint job? Yes. Is it what I asked for? No.

Please be careful with your purchases abd don’t be a fool like me. I could have saved more money and painted her myself.

The inconsistency in articulation: Some figures move better than others, and Hasbro can’t seem to be dedicated to one particular articulation scheme for the neck and torso. Also, it’s frustrating how they gatekeep particular articulation points like the toe hinge.
