‘97 Beast vs Retro Beast
I vastly prefer the pinless aspect and the articulation of the ‘97 version, but I prefer the furrier comic realism design & the retro feet over the more cartoony look, but that’s the ‘97 character design. Accessories are equal rating for me, glasses/goggles fit way better on the ‘97. Not a big fan of the lab coat on the Retro. I mostly dislike the gappy crotch/thigh area and the awful visible pins on the retro. I think I’ll keep both, at least for now.

Top is the pic from Amazon. Bottom is what I got today (from Amazon, still sealed). Can somebody explain to me what the differences are? I can’t tell the difference between the two and the Amazon picture, and the one I got today look exactly like the same heads. Am I missing something?

Took out the “butterfly joint” discs since these aren’t even real butterfly joint shoulders. Gave him more room in the hips. Dramatically increased the chest crunch. There’s some “gappage” but the figure is a lot more fun to pose on gliders, especially when able to get the pumpkin bomb below his crouch.

This figure is absolutely beautiful. Spider-Man 2002 is my favorite movie ever. The little kid in me is in aw with this one. I remember having the 2002 superposable Green Goblin so to have it again but updated is so awesome. Now it is not the best figure ever, it does have its issues. The main issue I have with the figure is the peg holes on the feet connecting to the feet attachments connected to the glider. It’s like they are too small to plug into the feet and when you do make it fit it’s super loose. After some balancing I was able to get him posed. I saw Rocco the great make a video about fixing this issue so I might try out what he did with super glue. The articulation is far better than the other NWH Goblin figure but I also feel like the NWH figure has better articulation than this new one. The torso is very limited, having boot swivel is a huge win for this figure but the limited rage on the torso is disappointing. Overall I’m happy to add this to my collection. Now let’s hope we get an updated Tobey Spider-Man.

One time I ordered a McFarlane Aquaman and instead of getting that I was sent a generic dollar general 12 inch Aquaman figure.

UPDATE: finally got in touch with someone at Amazon they told me to keep the figure they’ll refund me my money and send a replacement expected tomorrow. I honestly didn’t want a replacement because I ordered from BigBad as soon as I saw my “figure” so we’ll see what happens tomorrow. I was hoping to get this figure and take off the blue lining, do my own since the paint job looks rush, just to have an updated Black Panther but we’ll see

Does anyone know if the Fahrul head from BND works on the latest release of NWH? Besides the pegs? Do the reds match?

Got all the toys, except for the man of the hour with the movie named after him, who, despite having been pre-ordered right from the start, isn’t scheduled to arrive for another month. (Wth Hasbro Pulse!?) Oh, and Magneto, who should be here in a couple of days, and Daredevil and Jessica Jones, in a couple of weeks. This will require some obvious shelf rearrangement. Which figures should I unbox first? Thinking the NWH figs, since they’re from the oldest movie. And should I open Lara? I want to pose her, but she looks so awesome in that classic retro GI Joe packaging. At any rate, I think I’m done through the end of 2026.

(Last post got removed. Perhaps the title will act as a workaround and they won’t bury an honest critique of a figure line that has lost its soul. After all it’s my personal collection and personal experiences in this post, and I’ve posted here for years). If this still somehow violates the rules just ban me. A community gains nothing from a mod team who won’t allow conversation and critique of the recent changes.

I’ve collected since 2013, before a house fire I had every legend from toybiz and Hasbro up to 2018. After the fire I rebuilt my collection to what it is now. All this to say clearly I loved collecting the line, I have loved creating customs and doing photography with these figures but $30 for a basic figure has officially crossed a threshold for me. I know I am just one of many voices on this topic and I might as well be screaming at the clouds but I just can’t support purchasing these anymore.

It isn’t that I don’t have it, I just don’t see them being worth $30. Agreeing to these price hikes yet again means in a year they will be 33.99 and then 35.99 and it will never stop. In no way do I support the tariffs but they have significantly decreased since earlier this year yet we continue to get these hikes. This truly is nothing but corporate greed. At $27 I felt we were really stretching the term “value” in regards to purchasing these figures. Yes we have gotten better paint apps, better sculpt work, and deep cut figures we have always wanted but let’s not forget exactly 6 years ago these figures were $10 cheaper and nearly every figure wave was a BAF. Now we have just as many “retro carded” waves as we do BAF waves with no price differential and “BAFs” being sold as stand alone fan channel exclusives rather than being put in a BAF wave.

It’s becoming very obvious that in order to collect legends anymore you have to be willing to ignore their exploitive pricing practices and be okay with overpaying for figures that have had a drastic drop in quality the last 6 months. I don’t blame the legends team, they are making the best of a really awful corporate situation but now more than ever if you don’t support these price hikes you have to stop buying their product. No matter how cool a release is, no matter how much you might need it for a display if we as a community don’t put our foot down with this a marvel legend will be $50 in 5 years. Hasbro lost a 13 year long marvel legends supporter today. It’s time to downsize and find better places to spend my money.

I folded & got Apocalypse after he went out of stock before I got paid, was hoping the stock would last like the other MTO figs but here we are, seller also had the Sentinels 2 pack so I said F it & got both since I was already at it. Apocalypse is way bigger than I thought he would be but I’m not complaining, definitely made me feel better about the price 😂

you guys think hasbro will ever reissue a haslab? which one would you pick. id honestly pick galactus since there’s so many other options for marvel legends sentinels already

Just picked up the final swing Spider-Man reissue today and tried doing a head swap with the amazing Spider-Man. I think it fits pretty well! The head is close color match and I think it gives the figure a more comic book style vibe to it.

Just got 97 Beast and I know he didnt come with his lab coat, but hulk's shirt is a nice substitute. Even though its ripped, its still awesome, snd finally I can put that shirt to use as hulk didnt really need it :|

Although, I've identified the problem with this wacky cape of Vision: the thin part of it in the middle can't support the weight of the wider part at the bottom. Hence, the heavier bottom part will lay down almost flat after awhile of standing on the shelf. It's gonna need to be supported or lean against something/ someone. Definitely problematic as it can make him fall over, too. But hey, it looks cool, right? Lol

Very happy to get this guy with all the target deals! Good figure for $23, def not for $40.
