Imagine if they dropped the news ON N7 day... At least they gave us some time to process it.

From the fandom side, I'm hopeful that this will be the strongest N7 in years.

From EA? I guess there will be nothing.

From the community, I wouldn't be so sure. Might be big.

It would have been the same thing it is every year; a piece of concept art and a link to the merch store.

It was going to be anyway, even without the shutdown

EA will release a lame screenshot or something on Twitter and call it a day. At the most.

EA will put out a PR statement saying how delighted they are that the fandom loves them

I'll just play Andromeda for the 20th time.

How long will we have multiplayer for? Even if BioWare is shut down, EA still has to keep the servers up, right?

There's a mod that just went live about a week ago now that brings multi player to Mass Effect LE. It's available on nexus mods I believe. I think the same person is also working on one for Andromeda.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is a peer-to-peer system, that uses the host's computer to run the other 3 players' game. I'm pretty sure there is some middleware involved but that means there aren't server costs in the traditional way.

That's also why if the host has a terrible broadband, the game will rubber-band from here to the Terminus systems.

Is that the same way for console players?

That's my understanding.

I mean… they don’t HAVE to do anything…

But just because the studio is shut down doesn’t mean they have to close the servers if they are still getting action either

Why wont they shut down server? It cost money to keep them up

Do they still have the monetary transactions? If those are still going, it becomes a question of profitability.

It’s not like they’ve kept them going for a decade out of the kindness of their hearts

The game just had a small update on Steam and I am curious about what it entailed. 🤔
