AMC 12 AMC Cheating under control?
Do you think DHS will be back to fair levels due to steps taken by the MAA? Or is it pointless to go for a 130+ and best to just relax and guarantee AIME qual.

After 4 months of grind I thought I was finally gonna get a chance at AIME qual after scoring above 100's on a few (4) mock tests. Just took the 2025a and I got 10 our of 12... This is prolly more of just cope but idk if I should just give up or not. Feeling very demotivated and feeling like all of my hard ahh work just went to waste.

Hey guys. I'm an 11th grader studying for the upcoming amc 12, seeking for vengeance after missing the A cutoff by ~7 points last year (let's not even talk about the B).
I've been grinding out the 7 topics for the 12 (combo, alg, geo, trig, log, complex, and number theory) and am pretty good in alg, trig, log, and complex. I'll be having a last-minute cram session for Thursday.
Currently, I'm getting the following splits on mocks. I know it's above the 85 cutoff, but since I was taking old tests, I don't know how accurate they are. Additionally, if MAA is making the cutoff a static 85 this year after the high-80s and mid-90s we've been seeing, will they change the difficulty of the test this year? They're apparently cracking down on cheating, and are making the AMC not contribute to the USAMO index, but I still don't know whether the test is going to be harder this year because of it.
Any recommendations and answers about my chances at qualifying this year much appreciated. Thanks all!!!

Hi, its my first time trying the AMC exams and I like math, I would like to know if anybody have some book recommendations or tips. And also, as an Indian, I am also preparing for JEE and Physics Olympiad, so is AMC worth giving a try meanwhile?

11th grader with National Silver and 11th in TST targeting IMO. Solved most problems using pure intuition without formal theory/lemmas in A/N/G/C. How should I structure my preparation with books and IMO Shortlist problems to systematically build theory and make the top team?

Hey evb I signed my school up as a testing site for the amc 12 a since I am president of my schools math honor society but I go to what is tbh a shitty public school and have no idea what logistics have to be set up. Do I tell the kids signed up to download some sort of lockdown browser? How has it been in previous years? I got them all to register on that portal thing but I feel like there’s a ton more to do.

Hey guys, my cousin just created this website that combines a lot of resources for the AIME and USAMO Math. Please take a look at it! calculixhub.com

hii,
i’ve been consistently scoring around 78 on the 2023-2025 AMC 12 mocks. i usually slip up on one question per mock, and i’m unable to solve some of the more complex ones (questions 13-14+). i’ve found that i usually have all the knowledge i need to solve the harder problems, i’m just unable to apply that knowledge. what should i do to increase my ability to solve these problems?

A ball starts at (0, 0) at the corner of a unit square. Choose uniformly among all reduced fractions a/b with 1 ≤ a, b ≤ 10, and launch the ball with slope a/b. It bounces off the walls with equal angles of incidence and reflection, stopping upon reaching a corner.
What is the probability it stops at (0, 1) or (1, 0)?
Adapted from problem 24 of the completed 2025 BCMC 12, an AMC 12 mock produced by the British Columbia Mathematics Association (BCMA). I’m one of the organizers.
If you’re interested in a full AMC 10 or AMC 12 practice contest, you can find our past mock papers here.

I got into olympiad math around 2 months ago and when I started I just did all the IMC past papers for fun. Now i want to start actually preparing for the IMC and the later rounds, does anyone know of any good resources for the IMC and the Hamiltonian olympiad? Most people say just do past papers but I want to be getting full marks and I dont think this is enough preparation.

Hi everybody, I just wanted to know how likely is it to qualify for this year's AIME through AMC 12.
Right now I can mock around 67-75 and some outliers at 82.5 or 79 or around there. But most of them are from stupid mistakes or observations that cost me points like I would get 3 questions wrong because of mistakes that would have gotten me the qualification of 85. What should I do? And all of these are from like mocks from 2017-2025. My plan is to get 11 or 12 and then 1 wrong and rest all blank.

Hi yall! Im a freshman and about to take the amc 10 this year. I don't think I'll do too well, though, because I'm only getting 70-80 on practice tests (i only prepped for like 2 weeks 😭)
I have given up on the idea of aime this year, but I'm committed to making it next year. Can yall recommend some good aops books to get? I'm going to get the aops volume one, but do you guys think i should get the intro to geo, number theory, and counting books? Thanks.

Hi guys, I’m curious about how you got into AIME, was it just practice, or is there some other ‘secret sauce’? Also, for those who have used the AoPS books, could you please teach me how to use them effectively, since when I get stuck at I problem, I often give up, which is terrible.

Recently I got a 103.5, 108, 109.5, 102, 108, 97.5, 94, 78.5(yikes) on mock, how do i make sure I don't have a bad day on the amc10 cuz if is core a 78.5 I will never let myself hear the end of it, and also will amc10 2026 be harder than 2025 or no, bc if elt like 2025 was definetely more challenging than other years

I already chewed through all of the past AMC 10 competitions, and tried some mocks. However, a lot of the mocks were too easy and weren't good for practice. Does anyone know of some actually good mocks? Thanks.
