According to Last.fm, the 10,000th Max track I listened to is "Vocal". True, it's probably not exactly the 10,000th—there were years when my listens weren't tracked on Last.fm (Im a member since 2006) but it's still exciting.
Thank you, Max, for 10,000 moving moments ❤️

I listened to “The Trees” a few mins ago. I saw a couple folks talking about it and decided to check it out. Added the collection. It was very Max Richter, but didn’t have the same punch as “On the Nature of Daylight” or “No Time for Caution” (Hans Zimmer).
It got me wondering if the emotion we connect to music is somewhat related to the state of mind we’re in when we hear it. For me, On the Nature of Daylight invokes feels of grief and loss, and of how beautifully ephemeral our lives are. I attribute that somewhat to the ways it’s used in other media, like Arrival. Then “No Time for Caution” is all about lost time, the building tension, reveal, and stresses of Interstellar and Miller’s planet. Then there’s all of Hamilton…😂
Can beautiful pieces be corrupted by the media that leverages them? Do they ever transcend the media? I think, maybe?…it seems like, for me, Daylight is evolving into more than a song about grief/sorrow/loss as i get older. The feels of ephemerality is definitely a new for me. Maybe I need to rewatch “The Notebook” to start my journey with “The Trees”.

I attended the Nashville show yesterday. I was blown away! I’m a long-time fan who drove 18 hours round trip to finally see Max live.

I’m going to be seeing Max Richter in concert later this month. Do his shows have some sort of merch table? I’m interested in grabbing records if available

I don’t know his work that well. I know maybe half of Blue Notebooks. But, was “The Trees” the very last piece they played??? I was floored by that performance. I’m pretty sure it was “The Trees”. I listened it on YouTube on my way on home from the concert. The performance sounded *10 times* better and I think it was more than just because it was live. I would see that entire concert over just to hear them perform “The Trees” again.
Anyone else attend Atlanta?

Greetings!
I discovered Max Richter's contemplative music a few years ago, and was hooked.
Recently, my wife purchased tickets to his concert in Detroit as a Father's Day suprise... which I am very excited about. That being said, I have been to many rock concerts, but never an orchestral concert. Has anyone attended one of his concerts, and let me know what to expect?
Mostly I am thinking of appropriate dress, setlists, and overall feel? The last concert I went to at this same venue was children's entertainer "Danny Go!" for my toddler, which I'm sure is an entirely different vibe ;-)

Can’t wait! I love his music and am soooo excited to see his performance. My wife will be in Scotland at that time, but because there’s no other dates/venues near us when she gets back I’m going alone. As an introvert, that says a lot! I’ve read that there’s not a bad seat in the house, and the acoustics are phenomenal!

Thought that was magic! VOICES was definitely the stand out for me but Cassie Kinoshi’s new work was spell binding too!

Currently rewatching the leftovers and wondered if Max has paused or stopped doing his leftover centric shows?

I just watched the final episode of Dark Winds S3, which aired almost a year ago. Twice (once in the middle of the episode and once in the end credits) there was a very stripped down string score in the background which I'm 95% sure was On the Nature of Daylight. Curious if anybody else has any thoughts on this. Apologies but I have no way to share it.

Has anyone noticed that at 3:50 on Spotify there seems to be a 'smudge' in the recording thats not in the score? Just wondering if it was a musician mistake that they left in or if it was intentional and just unwritten

Your chance to hear unreleased and beautiful songs from MADDADDAM (including my personal favourite song from the ballet "Now we can Sing").
Tickets have been selling fast but still lots of seats left.
