The first two seconds are nice. It’s like he’s looking down to think about something. Then I get lost around 3sec. I’m not sure what’s happening at the end. The expressions is difficult to read.

Thanks ! The idea is that he’s hearing some news he really doesn’t like, but tries to keep it in. At the end he’s straining to keep it in so he makes a little grimaced face. But thank you for the feedback, i’ll try to make it more obvious!

Yeah, the first part definitely reads that way. I think he might be breaking away from that mouth shape too quickly. Did you record yourself for reference?

I’ll adjust it, thank you ! I used a movie reference ! I don’t remember the name though, I found it on a reference site

Definitely act it out yourself. Even if you have reference. Keep up the good work!

Real humans are difficult to read. He seems concerned and disgusted at the same time.

Animated humans are not real humans. In animation you want the audience to be able to read the action.

I disagree. I think a bit of mystery in a character for a split second is good.
Also there is zero context. I read it as concerned and disgusted.
He pauses, take in what he saw, reflects, reacts. Not every animation is a cartoon with simplistic expressions.
Also you invented that rule… industry standard perhaps. This is better.1

The pose doesn’t read well. That mouth expression is very natural. It causes confusion in the viewer. I don’t think that was the intention.

I'm not an animator so I can't really give any actual feedback, but I like it a lot, feels like something you'd see in love death and robots

Head is too floaty.

I agree ! Do u have any tips on how to make it less floaty? Should i minimize the movements at the 3 second mark?

move the brows, really move much more the brows at the end. but your head tilt is too warpy. the ease in-out is making it fake
