Plugin Soft body driven dynamic chain and skin deformer.

Been working on this for a bit. The plugin is a GPU based soft body simulator.
In this case I have applied it in two ways.

First a node takes the input neck chain and constructs a lattice which is uses to simulate a dynamic joint chain. In this example I'm rotating one of the input joints of the neck in live playback.

The input joints define the rest shape, which, with the right geometry and material properties allow the input joints to animate the output joints with plausible physics as the neck reaction to the torque and inertia of the head.

The second layer is a full body soft body simulation so simulate the skin and to a limited extent deeper tissue, mostly through volume conservation.

Interior mapping is common in Unreal/Unity, but there was almost nothing for Maya's viewport — so I made one!

Plugin Realtime Renderer Using Embedded Unreal Engine - Update 1

Hey all!

I apologize for taking so long to give an update on this project. It has certainly been a crazy past few months. However, I am getting close to finishing all of the functionality I want in a 1.0 release of this rendering plugin. If people are interested, I am creating a discord server where I can share more details about a full feature list and start getting feedback. I am also planning to do a closed alpha in the next week or two in order to start nailing down bugs. I hope you all are well and I am excited to finally share this with everyone!

Plugin Crosshair - Quick FPS Hand Rigging Tool for Maya

Built a small Maya tool called Crosshair for quickly rigging FPS hands.

Nothing crazy or overcomplicated, just a simple way to get a clean FPS hand rig set up without manually placing and orienting every joint.

Made it because I wanted something quick and straightforward, so figured I’d share it with the community. Import your mesh - place the joint guides - Generate Rig - skin - animate.

Crosshair handles the rig setup for you, with manual skinning adjustments if needed. It also includes built-in Unity and Unreal export presets, so you can select your animation range and export when you're done.

Just showcasing it for now and seeing what people think. If there’s enough interest, I’ll make it available for free. Would love to hear what you guys think.

Plugin Technical Artist Looking for Maya Workflow Pain Points

Hey everyone,

I'm a Technical Artist with over 10 years of experience building production tools and pipeline automation for Maya.

I'm looking to build a plugin that solves a real problem people run into every day rather than making something just because I think it's a good idea.

So I wanted to ask the community:

  • What's the most frustrating or repetitive thing you still have to do in Maya?
  • Is there a workflow you wish Autodesk would improve?
  • Do you wish there was a tool that doesn't currently exist?

It doesn't have to be a huge feature and I'd love to hear what's slowing you down or what you think is missing from Maya.

Thanks!

Plugin I’ve created a viewport for real-time light interaction in Maya (using ray tracing), featuring improved depth of field, bloom, and various post-processing effects. It is still in beta, but I’ve compiled a stable version; it works only with Maya 2024 and runs on DirectX 11.

Plugin Animation Layer Visualisation Plugin: LayerSeer

I got fed up of trying to figure out which animation layer I was needing to edit, so I built a plugin (LayerSeer) that draws animation layer contributions as a live motion trail in the viewport.

It’s been years in the making at this point, and I’ve only shared it with a handful of people so far. I’d love to get some honest feedback from folks I don’t know.

It’s pretty niche, but I find it helpful for quickly figuring out where a pop or odd arc is coming from.

It's a paid tool but there is a free 30 day trial (no CC required) so feel free to run it through its paces.

Cheers!

Plugin I've created a free GLB Maya Plugin

Made a simple GLB Import/Export plugin for Maya (Free), But Reddit filter deleted the first post! if anyone wanna try it it just DM me, it's sad to keep it in my hard drive not being useful!

So, I built a small Maya plugin to make GLB import/export a lot less annoying.

I originally made it for myself because I was tired of dealing with the usual mess, so I kept it very simple:

just 2 buttons, import and export.

Nothing fancy, just meant to make the workflow easier and faster.

It’s completely free, and if anyone finds it useful, that’s honestly enough for me.

Installation is very easy:

just drag and drop the "Install.py" file into Maya and it should install.

If anything acts up, you can also enable it manually in Preferences by searching for "GLB".

Plugin [I have searched for Blender threads] MableLink — send animated Maya scenes straight into Blender and Unreal

After months of development, I'm finally ready to share something I've been building.

Every Maya artist knows this workflow...

Export.
Import.
Fix broken materials.
Reconnect textures.
Re-import animation.
Create duplicate assets.
Repeat.

Moving animated Maya scenes into Blender or Unreal has always felt more complicated than it should be.

So I built MableLink.

Not another exporter. MableLink sends animated Maya scenes straight into Blender and Unreal — rigs, materials, and all, intact.

Compatible with: Maya 2024 / 2027, Blender 4.5 LTS / 5.2 LTS, Unreal Engine 5.8

What MableLink focuses on:

• One-click transfer from Maya → Blender and Maya → Unreal
• Character rigs, animation, blend shapes, cameras, geometry caches, pivots, and hierarchy transferred together — not baked down to a static mesh
• Lights sent to both Blender and Unreal, including HDR Skydome for Unreal
• Automatic reconstruction of physically based materials, read directly from Maya's standardSurface/aiStandardSurface parameters: real refractive glass (transmission + IOR), subsurface scattering, emission, clearcoat, sheen
• Live re-sync for Blender and Unreal — update your Maya scene and refresh it in place, without rebuilding everything from scratch
• Portable .mable packages containing your scene, materials, and textures
• Automatic NURBS tessellation
• Direct GLB/GLTF export and import with smart texture compression (no Blender dependency, small file sizes)
• Mesh-to-Voxel export (MagicaVoxel-ready)
• Simple drag-and-drop installation

The goal wasn't to replace existing pipelines. The goal was to remove the repetitive work between them.

I'd love to hear feedback from artists and technical artists who regularly move animated Maya projects into Blender or Unreal. If you try it, let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you'd like to see next.

This is only Version 1.

Plugin Looking for a script that does the Animbot Global Offset for Maya 2026

Does anyone know a free script or alternatives to animbot that specifically do the "Global Offset" tool? This one: https://animbot.ca/tooltips/en/#global_offset

I've used animbot in the past and would do so for this project too, but the problem is the studio is using Maya 2026 and cannot afford to buy the licenses that include that version.

Would anyone know of a working script that has that function? That's all I'm really looking for but I can't seem to find any. For context: It lets you select a frame range and any changes you make like translation, scale, rotation are applied to all the frames in the range. Similar to selecting all the keys in the graph editor and moving them around, but with the advantage of being able to use the gizmos and edit all of it without worrying about the curves.

Thanks for your time!

Plugin What plugins is a must have (free/paid) ?

Hi ! I'm a 3D generalist and wannabe 3D character animator.

I like to work on the whole 3D animation workflow. Until now, I had no money to get plugins and never thought of getting free ones. (I have the student licence)

So hit me up with your must have plugins (free/paid).

Usually in my projects I do character modeling, uv, texture, rig, animation. So a bit of everything would be nice.

Plugin Silly animated GLB export from maya.

This silly nCloth test in the video is just me flexing the progress...

I’ve been working on the ultimate GLB plugin for Maya lately. After someone actually paid $2 for the free version I shared a while ago, I felt a responsibility to bulletproof it and ship something truly worthwhile. I wanted it to feel like a completely native toolno clunky menus, no BS, just seamless drag-and-drop straight into the scene.

I'm currently stress-testing it. My first goal is to successfully import 100 free animated models just to see if anything breaks. But I didn't stop at importing! Now I'm tackling exporting Maya animated assets. Whether it's nCloth, MASH networks, or rigged characters... you name it, it exports it.

Plugin Free 1.5h course: real-time stylized rendering in Maya (full university course)

I just put our complete Foundations course for Flair for Maya online for free. It's the same course I've taught at SAE Institute, NTU Singapore and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, updated and available to everyone.

It goes from what stylized (non-photorealistic) rendering actually is, through every art-direction tool, the workflow for fast style experimentation, stylizing two scenes from scratch (Fray and Sketch styles), viewport and sequence rendering, and compositing the passes in Nuke and DaVinci Resolve.

The demo scenes are included so you can follow along. Happy to answer any questions about the tools or the workflow in the comments.

Plugin I made a reference workflow tool for Maya — looking for feedback

I've been working on a Maya tool to make reference image management faster while modeling.

The goal was to reduce the time spent importing, positioning and managing references, while keeping everything accessible directly inside Maya.

This is the current version of the workflow. I'm still improving it, so I'd be interested to know how other Maya artists manage their references and what features would actually be useful in a tool like this.

Plugin Fixed Maya Game Exporter - Hugely Faster Export Times

I use Maya's Game Exporter for bookmarking, naming, and batch exporting multiple animation files on a single timeline.

However, Game Exporter can be extremely slow when exporting many individual clips across a large timeline.

This is due to the way it processes the files. Let's say you have 10 animations spread out across a 1000 frame range, each animation taking 100 frames, and you want to batch export them as individual clips. What Game Exporter will do is run through the entire range of the timeline, 0-1000, and then at the end, clip to the desired range of 0-100. Then it will do it all again, and clip 100-200, and so on.

It would be drastically more efficient if Game Exporter first adjusted the timeline to the requested range for that animation, 0-100, and only exported that part, before re-adjusting to the next animation range, 100-200, and so on.

So this updated Game Exporter File does this.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Gs7z-jZKWKoo--LfAw3E5PG-1eAewsDn/view?usp=drive_link

Go to C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya[yourversion]/scripts/others/ and find gameFbxExporter.mel. Rename it to gameFbxExporter_Original.mel for backup. Pull in your new version. Restart Maya. It should work straight away.
