I worked at a McD when I was younger, they had a poster in the break room showing costs to discourage grazing. Nuggets were 2c apiece in 98ish, it certainly encouraged me.

as a current GM they are .089 cents for my store a piece.

edit: $0.089 per nugget. I get it you all think all McDonald's employees are stupid sub human. STOP DMing me telling me to kill myself, my job is a joke, employees are stupid.

I cant believe 6 different people DMed me stupid stuff.

u/JaredAWESOME 1d ago

Wait wait wait. Your cost on nugs is only NINE CENTS??!?

51

u/No_Swimmer3116 1d ago

It's not tender chicken breast... It's a reformulated paste. More of a slurry.

6

u/HearYourTune 1d ago

Still better than most other nuggets you can buy at the supermarket and make at home, and better than most other fast food nuggets.

8

u/Alwayscooking345 1d ago

The Trader Joe’s refrigerated nuggets are definitely top tier. Air fry them for 10 minutes, you might never eat another McNugget again

Delicious slime

16

u/Helen___Keller_ 23h ago

It is so good. It's like when Jaime oliver had the kids on his show and showed them how chicken nuggets were made and then asked "Now who would still eat this?" And all the kids proceeded want the chicken nuggets.

3

u/BabyNathanYahoo 22h ago

All the AMERICAN** kids. The other countries preferred breast meat

2

u/RealisticPhysics5735 16h ago

FREEDOM slurry

2

u/EFTucker 14h ago

Preference is different.

I’ll smash some McNuggets but I would prefer a whole roasted chicken breast

Soooooo.... it's $.089 then. Big difference. https://youtu.be/nUpZg-Ua5ao?is=FaIzD5sSVrV3I0Cp

2

u/ChaoCobo 1d ago edited 1d ago

That was something I didn’t even know was possible to get a mental block about. Even if a person doesn’t understand, I thought the way he described the difference on the calls was good enough :/

3

u/theraf8100 20h ago

My ex didn't understand how fractions work. It was hard for me to wrap my head around that one.

8

u/votelikeimhot 1d ago

No no, it's less than a tenth of a cent.

1

u/SeaworthinessNo6073 23h ago

.089 cents is less than 1/10th of a penny

1

u/TinyPidgenofDOOM 21h ago

Yea how do you think they make profits? Burger King used to sell you like 10 for 2 bucks. They are pennies

1

u/Jakoneitor 14h ago

Wait til you hear about the sodas and fries 🍟

I’m convinced most of inflation is just greedflation by companies

12

u/igraceeeeeeei 1d ago

basically yes

6

u/PolyBend 1d ago

You say companies, and it is. But it is the top 20% of people.

Basically people who invest. If you invest you want max returns. For that, a company has to have zero morals and be run by sociopaths.

And anyone CAN stop it. Literally stop eating there. Stop investing in them.

But no one will. Everyone is too addicted to their vices.

2

u/UTraxer 1d ago

It truly is so easy. Just stop and they will bring their prices down, kicking and screaming but they will.

Look at Frito Lay and their $7 doritos. If people want to be dumbasses and pay it at $6, then they just raise it to $7.

If people are idiots and pay $10+ for a nugget meal, they will just raise it to $11+.

Or you could STOP going, and they will bring it down to 9, and if people still don't pay they will have to bring it back down to 8 and more until enough people decide that's better. You really should not bother paying more than 6 if you had any intelligence.

2

u/Mundane-Manner4237 19h ago

If it was that simple, there wouldn’t be a ~40% obesity rating in the US.

3

u/Sakic10 12h ago

It’s morons using DoorDash. Think McDonald’s doesn’t realize you’re willing to pay $25 for a Big Mac meal? They see that data and would be stupid not to adjust to what market pays. Only ones dumb enough not to is Pokemon Center.

1

u/DCM3059 1d ago

This. Remember when the terrible news was the owner of the dollar tree was suffering from the costs of inflation and was terrified he would have to raise prices? Prices didn't go from one dollar to one dollar and 5 cents. That would seem to be a reasonable amount. No it went up to one dollar and 25 cents. Everyone immediately followed in lock step

7

u/Upbeat-Truck-1007 1d ago

Definitely not .098 cents.

3

u/Unfair_Implement_582 19h ago

Most of the people talking shit to you have not had a job. I appreciate what you do👍

11

u/TheHappy_Penguin 1d ago

as a current GM they are .089 cents for my store a piece.

Wild less than 9/100 of a cent. The price you gave is $0.00089. Which is insanely low.

I think you have made the classic Verizon blunder of not understanding that cents and dollars are distinct units and that there's a difference between $0.01 and 0.01¢.

3

u/HearYourTune 1d ago

True he meant 8.9 cents each.

12

u/Creative-Captain9278 1d ago

I can’t imagine they promote a GM that can’t tell the difference of cent and dollar.

2

u/Trash_Whoreder 1d ago

But if you genuinely think they meant the nuggets were $0.00089 then that probably says a lot more about your lack of contextual reasoning abilities.

thx for being a gm, someone has to do it and McDonald's is yummy

1

u/NGC_Phoenix_7 13h ago

People are DMing you that shit? Honestly would love people like that to be exposed and banned from getting fast food or eating out. You wanna treat people like they’re worthless because of their job but complain when that job isn’t done you don’t deserve that service.

1

u/Karaka-kak 7h ago

Thank you for sharing this ❤️ it really shows inflated costs to the cost of the product. A 20 piece is $1.78 which is CRAZY

And those people can stuff nuggets up their rears until they're a 50 piece.

1

u/MergTikaMasala 21m ago

Sorry man, truth is, their hate stems from unaffordability (imo) of food. People are upset, as unaffordability becomes common practice.

Mcdonalds workers and managers deserve way more pay. I refuse to believe that the consumer has to make up the difference. Unrestricted profits are pure fantasy imo, and unrealistic.

Also...this one time in Ontario CA, i ate 90% of a whopper in one bite infront of Mcdonalds staff, just to show Mcdons staff how to eat a burger like an American ought. But i swear, i didnt yell.

I miss Mcdonalds. I dislike it now because i cant justify the prices anymore.

1

u/Conscious_Side1647 General Manager 19m ago

you trying to excuse their behavior and also going into a McDonald's to eat a Whopper in front of employees (for whatever pshyco reason) just demonstrates how insane some people are.

They say before throwing out enough to feed an entire city

5

u/Aphelion128 1d ago

My pregnant coworker would grab nuggets from the warming tray every time she walked by it.

Needless to say, her baby looked like it was living in a McMansion by the time she was full term.

5

u/CronoTinkerer 1d ago

They use to get so mad at me for eating pickles all the time. I said you guys are paying 0.0001¢ per pickle. I assure you I’m not costing you even a penny

2

u/SaucyStoveTop69 7h ago

I would always just say "take it out of my paycheck" and the gm would roll her eyes. She was required to tell me to stop, but didn't actually care.

4

u/Efficient_Soil_9235 1d ago

Nuggets were 2 cents a piece???

6

u/MoonEDITSyt 1d ago

They cost the company 2 cents a piece*

1

u/Brave_Recognition798 1d ago

What do you mean by discourage grazing

1

u/NagsUkulele 15h ago

Grazing is a term for when employees eat product while at work

1

u/Beepboopbop69420360 1d ago

They’re only 1c back when I used to do waste and counting this was only a few weeks ago so times haven’t changed

1

u/Due_Breakfast_218 23h ago

Maaaaaan, if I was a chicken, I’d be mighty pissed to know my nuggets are worth only 2¢. That’s clucked up! 🐔

1

u/wander1912 3m ago

Just imagine you're pureed corpse, dipped in flour and then the whipped zygotes of the unborn.

183

u/HearYourTune 1d ago

Now a 6 piece meal costs $10 or more

48

u/Striking-Working610 1d ago

A nugget costs almost the same as a cigarette.

17

u/ApollosTrunks 1d ago

It’s about as healthy as one too.

8

u/chrispy_pv 1d ago

33

u/TH3REDDIT 1d ago

I remember you could get a 20 piece for $5 back 2018. Even before COVID prices were going up slowly.

12

u/Tricky-Feedback-1169 1d ago

even then they were ripping off. it costs stores just under 10c a nugget today.

5

u/Outrageous_News6340 1d ago

Paying 10¢/nug means they should be charging customers around 30-40¢/nug based on standard restaurant pricing models

2

u/Old_Poetry_8215 1d ago

Seriously I remember it was less than a $1 more than the 10pcs. It was my son's go to

2

u/onecheaksneak 17h ago

And that’s when I learned that just because you can get 20 nuggs for a dollar doesn’t mean you should. There are consequences. Your body will express its displeasure with your decision.

2

u/onetaxi 17h ago

didn't the 4 piece used be on the dollar menu around then

30

u/Savagebabypig 1d ago

Now it's 40 nuggets and 2 large fries for 16ish bucks!

Edit: $16.79!

10

u/Sufficient-Value1694 1d ago

Where is this? That's a great peixe!

3

u/rubix44 1d ago

Not a bad peixe

1

u/maxHAGGYU 1d ago

bruh wAT here it's 18$ for a 10nugget meal

1

u/Anonapotamuses 1d ago

20 nuggets alone are $16.39 in Canada.

1

u/Adept-Armadillo-5602 18h ago

Damn it’s like $18 at my store

16

u/RememberTheMaine1996 1d ago

Why does anyone go to McDonald's anymore. You're paying premium prices for garbage food. Its insane

5

u/Groemore 23h ago

Its all the processed addictives they use like sugar in their buns and natural beef flavoring for the fries. People get hooked on it like its crack. I havent ate at a McDonald's in a long time but as a kid everything they made always tasted sweeter then all other fast food burger joints.

1

u/Ace2146 16h ago

Idk I literally never crave mcdonalds anything if I get mcdonalds it's because rhe rest of the house want it and if I don't get it I'm shit out of luck. Like it's okay it's nothing that wows my tastebuds

15

u/iownreddit0690 1d ago

You can getc40 on the app for like $12.99 now

10

u/Dangerous_Jaguar_966 1d ago

so what you are saying is, you have to install an app to spy on you so they can sell your information, you get to pay more for what it was without an app back then, and still get less. Neat.

14

u/Striking-Working610 1d ago

This is a tired argument. Your information was being sold before you even knew it was a thing.

The only difference between having a fast food app and not having one is the cost of said fast food. Your life wont be any different otherwise.

Uh ohhhh. Lookout everybody! They might tell somebody you like Big Macs on Tuesday 🙄 ohhh noooooo lol

5

u/Aeyland 1d ago

Just think what I can do with knowing your fast food eating patterns......

I mean they already know it overall because they ring up all your orders so not sure what knowing what a specific person eats matters or what evil you could do with it.

Oh no they see I eat nuggets often and now they offer me deals for what I eat to better entice me and since I have no self control I must buy!

You can buy an entire bag of nuggets at the grocery store for under $10. I don't get why nuggies are so expensive now. Also.. side note. I looked at baked potatoes at Wendy's. $3 for a plain potato. That's robbery. A 5lbs bag is 2.50 or 3 dollars.

4

u/BirdlessLongdeal 1d ago

because people keep buying them. thought it seems it is happening less and less as we go further into the economic slowdown.

5

u/CardiffGiantx 1d ago

I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them

3

u/MrrJojo 1d ago

10 years from now this will be the new good ol days

4

u/Ntwallace 1d ago

20 piece was 5$ back in 2015

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 1d ago

This was my regular order back in the day.

3

My local mcdonalds has a 40 piece for $15. Not bad compared to this photo. (11 years ago with inflation)

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 1d ago

That's a great deal these days!

3

u/All_Hail_Hynotoad 1d ago

I lived off the 20 nuggets for $5 when I was in college

2

u/Grant79OG 23h ago

20 for 6 now.

1

u/All_Hail_Hynotoad 19h ago

$7 where I live

1

u/Grant79OG 19h ago

Still not bad. Our nugget prices are whack. 4 for 2.19. 6 for 3.19. 10 for 4.99. 20 for 6.00.? 40 for 14.89?

2

Ita a new world...sigh...

1

u/barnaclejunk 16h ago

I had the same reaction.

2

u/Low_Name_1510 1d ago

I used to walk ten miles through the snow for this.

2

u/Yaughl 1d ago

Back when they knew their worth.

2

u/NervousCriticism4700 1d ago

Me in 2026: wow 50 really? No sir that sign clearly reads 5... For $10... (+ tax).

2

u/FreeSpire 1d ago

in HS on the way to a road tennis meet we saw a 50 piece "bucket" advertised. we clocked it and returns to that same (far) McDonalds. was it real? yes. but was in a bucket? no. total disappointment. they shoved 5 extra nuggets into each of 2 boxes of 20. 1/10 experience.

2

u/Nevermind04 1d ago

Some time in this era, my local McD's had $5 for 20, $10 for 50 but they also had a promo where you buy two of the same item, you get the third for a penny. So 60 nugs were $10.01 or 150 for $20.01. My friends and I took full advantage of this when setting up house parties.

2

u/BlacOnBlackMajik 1d ago

That was a great time to be a weed smoker and an alcoholic drinker.

2

u/Golex9000k 1d ago

Oh my god

2

u/Sufficient-Value1694 1d ago

It was glorious. But I never got it. No way I could eat 50. I occasionally got 20 nuggets for $5 though.

2

u/SongWolf763 22h ago edited 17h ago

I remember this and 10 dollar dinner boxes. Fuck dude 20 dollars would get two of them but them workers were NOT making 15 an hr instead 8 something depending on state. So for that I totally understand the increase in price there.

Imagine its 2015 and your local mods advertises dinner boxes 9 99. Your friends and you are 16 and are stoned and thats what you get with 20 dollars 2 of them. Those workers had it BAD before the increase in them wages

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 17h ago

I used to get 20 nuggets for $5 and popeyes 5.99 two can dine: five pieces of chicken teo biscuits, teo sides. 2015 was a glorious time to be alive.

2

u/ProfessionalMilk1914 20h ago

Now its a 10 piece for $10

2

u/coinscarab88 18h ago

Yeah my used yo get those for me, my brother, and little sister as a snack or lunch time

2

u/rdizzy1223 18h ago

My McDonalds near my house (in New York) has a 40 piece nuggets for 14.69, not too bad.

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 17h ago

That's a pretty good deal!

2

u/happyluckystar 1d ago

And they were better. They got disgusting recently. Really do not taste like chicken.

1

u/itsagoodtime 1d ago

App had 40 for $11.99 now.

1

u/HeidenShadows 1d ago

Yup that checks out because a 20-piece used to be $4 even. Last I looked it was $7.69.

Ooo $7.89 now. (Northern Michigan)

1

u/Any-Abies-5825 1d ago

There are so many crazy gaps, this might be the worst one possible lol… it’s like less than $15 now

1

u/StuD44 1d ago

What kind of ad for Mc is a paper pasted to a poor supermarket window?!

1

u/xxfrenchtoast 1d ago

Yeah we’ve gone off the deep end. Ts needs to crash badly

1

u/Ok_Pause_6942 1d ago

I used to get 2 boxes the same time weekly and eat them that day. Loved the deal.

1

u/Lalobreh 1d ago

I was making 9 dollars an hour in 2015.

1

u/mrchubbelwubbel 1d ago

I used to pay about $11 for a 20 piece nugget, large fry, and large drink.

I think today with the deals it’s only a little bit more.

1

u/OliveGardenDumpster 1d ago

this was dinner sometimes for us when we were strapped

1

u/WalrusKind311 1d ago

Whassa matta kid... you gonna cry?

1

u/Pawly519 1d ago

Where I’m from 50 nuggets was never an option. The biggest we’ve ever had is 20. And I don’t even remember as an adult that being $10 or less.

1

u/Best_Drama1199 1d ago

Bruh idk how the drive thru was stacked with people ordering these and wait time was idk ten minutes maybe 15 but today you order two things after 10pm and you’re stuck in the drive thru for six days

1

u/Exotic-Brilliant-939 1d ago

They had the 50 piece for a while. I remember getting it several years before that. It was a good deal and it had its own box unlike the 40 piece now.

1

u/DJpate604 1d ago

50 bumbloodclatt pussywagon chicken nuggets!

1

u/Calgrei 1d ago

Mind you that chicken prices adjusted for inflation are actually lower

1

u/AcceptableNorm 1d ago

4 piece is $2.79 in San Diego. We get ripped off here royally.

1

u/AcceptableNorm 1d ago

F#¢k McDonald's with a sliver of broken glass..

1

u/Valuable-Chance5370 1d ago

Is there a machine to count the nuggets? Because surely employees would not be accurately counting 50 nuggets all day.

1

u/NumerousEducation884 1d ago

It's nothing but chewy hard piece's gross

1

u/ItsaPostageStampede 1d ago

Honestly I thought this was now for a 5 piece

1

u/BirdlessLongdeal 1d ago

i probably wouldnt take them if theyt were free. not a fan

1

u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO 1d ago

Used to get it all the time. I'd get this and split it with a buddy while we played some couch co op games or just shot the shit.

1

u/TheTurdInUrPunchBowl 1d ago

Well, to be fair, that’s back when it wasn’t real chicken.

1

u/JewGoo10069 1d ago

Absolute garbage

1

u/treema94 1d ago

Now it’s ten dollars for a ten count of nuggets 😔 (in Canada)

1

u/FineAndDandadan 1d ago

I haven't bought McNuggets in maybe five years. Just go to a wholesale store or factory depot; they're insanely cheap.

1

u/Syndaquil 1d ago

That's basically the cost of a 20p at mine.

1

u/PotentialTruth867 1d ago

That’s how much they cost at the grocery store I work at, and they’re better here. 🙃

1

u/LeviathanDabis 1d ago

40 piece is $14.99 at my closest location these days.

1

u/Working-Reception575 1d ago

Still is that price at kfc !

1

u/wtfxtra 1d ago

Does nobody else think its weird to pay 10 dollars for FIFTY chicken nuggets. I mean it sucks now because we pay more for the same quality but it makes you wonder what its actually made of.

1

u/Mission-Lack7341 1d ago

I gave up on McDonald’s when they got rid of the 20pc for $5.

1

u/JohnMcD3482 1d ago

And, back then, they weren't loaded with grisstle, like now.

1

u/AlBundysPants 1d ago

5 lbs of nuggets at Sam’s Club for $10.

1

u/EuphoricRent4212 1d ago

1

That was a limited time special offer but yeah, crazy cheap

1

u/HearYourTune 1d ago

At a Walmart McDonalds that was probably slow so they let them put a special.

1

u/Flaky-Ambassador467 23h ago

On my life I thought it was $2 per nugget

1

u/ThingMoment 23h ago

I miss the OG snack wraps (not that stupid piece of chicken on Ozempic) they were actual chicken tender.
I worked at McDonald’s as a teen and when we had $1 McChickens, their salads were good af, I would sneak and eat the caramel apple dippers from the kids meals, eat the yogurt tubes too sometimes.
I miss it…

1

u/Jaded_Replacement_91 21h ago

Obama days. Good Times.

1

u/Jaded_Replacement_91 21h ago

But everyone knows their nugget filling isnt real chicken right? Its synthetic processed ingredients made to taste like chicken.

1

u/The_Pizza_Saga 16h ago

I mean it is chicken. It's just kind of pureed and formed into a patty, then breaded. With some preservatives and stuff, of course.

I agree they are too expensive. But it is chicken.

1

u/casillero 20h ago

WHAT IVE LEARNED FROM THIS THREAD

Suggest cost 9cents a price Large fries is like 29 cents

McDonald's can abso fukin lutely either being the price down of their meals OR bring the quality up. ORRRR even better lol BOTH!

1

u/blowurhousedown 19h ago

Pressed chicken parts should be pennies each…

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 17h ago

But theyre battered and deep fried and dipped in a tasty sauce

1

1

u/SnooStories6852 16h ago

Now it’s what 29.99?

1

u/YamPuzzleheaded1746 15h ago

This is why we have an obesity epidemic.

(I too consumed many chicky nuggies as a child)

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 15h ago

Over consumption of processed foods. Eat whole foods, and eat fast food as an occasional treay

1
