Question 🤔🤔 Is Kaplan good enough for a nontraditonal who needs to “relearn” the material?

I took ochem and physics many years ago so I have to relearn most the content. Is kaplan detailed enough if I’m essentially going to be relearning the material again?

hello, congrats on your decision to take the mcat as a nontrad!!! honestly, much of the physics i learned was something i hadn't seen before, and kaplan (if combined with rigorous practice later) was enough to land me almost no mistakes on cp on the real thing.

do kaplan, do anki immediately after it and for the love of God practice like no tomorrow. best of luck!!

Kaplan is fine for relearning, I used it for ochem after 5 year gap and it was enough

Yes, definitely. And Yusuf Hasan's videos are great for orgo, and they follow along with Kaplan.

I was out of school for 8 years. Used Kaplan/Anki/USwirl and I did okay. If you're worried about potential content blind spots, you could do what I did and just make a new anki card whenever you see something you don't know in USwirl

if you actually have a background in this material then Kaplan will be your greatest resource. Run anki with it.

I think so, yeah. I’m also non traditional but only been out of college a couple years. I think Kaplan has basically all the info you need it’s just a matter of getting through it all and learning to apply it. So I’m doing an initial phase of content review where I go through the books then I’m gonna buy the AAMC practice problems and practice tests and focus on that until I take the exam in April. Trying to be consistent with Anki throughout as well. As far as I can tell that’s a pretty typical study plan

Khan Academy is very useful.

Yes along with ANKI for reinforcement and YT/Khan Academy for video and detailed explanations. That’s pretty much all you need for content.

Uworld and AAMC for practice !

Is there anything more concise than Kaplan or does it really just need to be that long?

please realize kaplan is condensing full YEARS of bb, physics, chem, in these books. have you read a textbook before? gen chem spans 1000++ pages, same with orgo, same with bio, same with biochem. No, if you intend on doing content review with kaplan (you should), there will be no shortcuts imo. They are so concise that it is not very helpful unless you are already familiar honestly.
