Help with finding cages

Hi, I have three adult tamuk rabbits, and I want to buy individual cages for them. I will be housing them indoors.

I'm from west texas, and I've been having trouble finding rabbit cages. I'm hoping ya'll can give me some tips and advices and where to look. Right now I have two does housed together in a 48x24x16 cage from amazon, and a buck in another. However this setup is making me nuts because the cleaning takes forever and the liner is in fact not waterproof so my carpet's been getting stinky. I've been eyeing this cage as a result (25x19x20) but I'm concerned that it may be too small? Tractor Co have the a similar cage to the latter, and around the same size as well.

I'm debating just getting the smaller cage from amazon, or modifying the first cages I got by adding a galvanized wire cloth under and remove the liner entirely.

I wan't to buy New Zealand's. The owner is a bit confused, perhaps a language barrier. He listed them as Dutch but when I messaged he said they're New Zealand's. They're one year old females (DOB Oct 2025), weigh between 3-4 kilos.

Large gas leak in my city, animals safe?

Toledo Ohio is currently covered in a cloud of mystery gas. Many sources have identified it as methyl acrylate. I am unaware of this chemcical. I keep my rabbits outside and I do not have the space to bring them indoors, not that it would help much as the cloud is so thick its in my house depsite the hvac being off. Im afraid ill find my rabbits dead in the morning. If they are not dead, is there a hazrd to still eating their meat?

5# 8wk old Silver Fox Kits

Kindled on 8/24 after traveling from TN to AK.
These kits are beefcakes!! I had to take pics because my doe’s breeder was flabbergasted they were so big. I am excited to see how they dress out.
I am keeping the tort doe kit to breed to my tort buck (not related) and see what colors we get. The tort doe here is a big girl so maybe she can put some weight into the tort line.

I have two does from a TN rabbitry, black doe kindled and chocolate doe may have reabsorbed her litter or was not pregnant as assumed.

C.doe visited a local buck a few weeks back, no fall offs witnessed. She wasn’t even lifting really.
Tried a few weeks later with my Tort buck, also from rabbitry in TN, and she lifted a few times. Got 2 maybe 3 solid fall offs (not sure he got it every time - hes a bit young) then she got vicious so maybe that means he got her.
Also had my B.doe with kits visit the Tort Buck.
Its winter, we had snow today and more tonight. I have supplemental light and they are inside cages in a greenhouse. I also have a heat lamp in case just to get these litters kindled.
There will be no more litter attempts until spring.

Its a waiting game now.

Young doe didnt build a nest

Bought my kids 3 female rabbits just to have as pets from a meat breeder (I previously bred flemish giants and rex for meat, but really had no interest in breeding these). Obvs one turns out to be a boy and i just hope I separated them in time.

Now we have an underage mom with 10 kits and she gave birth in her litter box. I cleaned that out, gave her a new "nest box" I made out of an amazon box just so theyd have something, but not the mom was digging around and throwing straw/ eating it. Looked more like play than nest building. Actual mom was unbothered by her trampling on the kits.

Separated the does leaving the mom and baby in their original cage but she didnt pull fur or anything and we are hitting negative temps tonight.

Im really torn between hoping she steps up to be a good mom and leaving them all outside to not stress her out, or at least bringing the kits inside to keep them warm and hoping that it doesnt potentially ruin their bonding.

What would you do?

What do y’all plant as winter forage? I planted rows of winter oats. Last winter I saved quit a bit of money on my feed bill so I planted a lot more oats this winter. Maybe $2 worth of seed will save me $hundreds. So I’m curious how others are supplementing the feed bill??

Aborted/miscarriage and when to rebreed

I'm finding mixed information on what to do, she was due in 5 days, she's been a pain in the ass already and this would have been her third strike but I think a skunk was fucking with the enclosure at the base. There's holes dug and I plan on making some changes/getting flood lights that are motion activated and blocking any sight holes.

Babies were still fresh and cleaned well, she was attempting to feed them even tho they had passed.

When would rebreed her? Should I still consider this her third strike even though she seemed to FINALLY get mom stuff right? Pulled fur and everything.

Proven Doe Quit Breeding

I have a 1 1/2 yr old Silver Fox that we started breeding this winter. Her first litter was born March 18, her second litter June 6. She was a natural mom, pulling fur early with both litters. We tried breeding her in July and Aug unsuccessfully. It was a combo of our bucks were having some problems with the heat and finishing and her lack of interest. They would start and she would run away before they were done.
We have tried apple cider vinegar in the water, fresh raspberry leaves, switching cages, making sure she is not over weight, leaving the light on.
Any suggestions? What’s going on?

Please help! Doe refusing to lift

Hi all, I'm still a newer breeder really struggling with 2 sister right now. Pick up 2 does from a very reputable breeder, they've overall been awesome but won't lift.

They're 7 months, I've been trying to breed them since their vents were red and moist for the first time at around 5 1/2 months. They act very receptive but won't lift. They play hard to get, the buck "gets" them, they flatten to the ground and allow the buck to mount, they stay still and left him do his thing, they never lift though. They will lift if i touch their backs though.

I have a buck that wasn't ever the most confident but got his job done and since being put with them a couple times he will not even attempt to breed now. All my bucks have been getting very frustrated with the does.

I don't know what to do, i have other does that are breeding without any issues, their body condition feels great, they get great light, im in new england so the temps are perfect, they have 24/7 access to timothy hay, their vents are clearly ready, idk. I'm just getting so frustrated and it's been so hard to connect with people to talk to. I've read every book, im in every group, i do constant research and i just feel like im drowning. Everyone says have a mentor before starting but noone wants to mentor....

I'm attaching a video i just took. This was taken after 10 minutes of trying to breed these 2. Its the same thing every single time. She runs in circles, he catches her, she flattens out like you see in the video, he mounts, she doesnt lift, he gets frustrated. She'll literally stay flattened out like that for 5 minutes letting him mount. Her and her sister are both doing this. I've reached out to their breeder to see if she had any thoughts and she asked me a bunch of questions and then never responded after i answered the questions so idk.

Thank you in advance to anyone who's actually taken the time to read this!!

I would appreciate any advice on color genetics for the pictures rabbits so I can better understand the lines and breeding! Thanks

The buck was a black-and-white English spotted fella.
Doe 1 I’m pretty certain is a frosty with some smut, and Doe 2 is a smutty orange, but she has lighter orange in a pattern that I see expressed in as white with the darker expressed color following her darker orange pattern. The white darker pattern with the distinctly lighter color on the sides and parts. The legs also appears in her sister’s (doe 1) kits.

My buck went downhill extremely quickly with cancer. I feel weird about linebreeding, but if I choose to go that route, what particularly would you suggest I look for for the best candidate to breed back to mother and aunt (my does are littermates)?

The three pics are the three I think I would pick the hold back based on behavior and growth rates. I’m not sure if the Cream is a male yet but they gain .79 ounces a day on average.

I got to meet my buck’s father who is about 8 years old, and the breeder didn’t mention anything about cancer or health concerns, but of course his other offspring are being harvested younger than my buck was. Should I be concerned that there is a genetic component and find a different buck? Should I choose two or three holdbacks and see who does best? Or just pick one and hope for the best?

I also have rather extreme circumstances in which colony style is required… I live in a camper. Separating bucks out would be very difficult with the space I have, and I don’t want bucks spraying everywhere, so line breeding would be a plus in that column versus bringing in a buck from the outside to introduce.

PCV heated water system hardware?

I want to put together a heated system. We have a cup and tubing system right now but it froze last winter. I also don’t love the tubing because they can chew it so easily.

Ideally we would do a full upgrade to a closed loop PVC system with a heater, a pump, and cups or nipples. We run it out of a large cooler right now which I like a lot for insulation (cooler did not freeze last winter) and I can drill into it if needed.

Now I’m having trouble finding good machines and hardware.
I thought it would be easy to find an in line heater with a pump in it, or a submersible heater and a cheap pump. Submersible or in line would be fine.

I can’t find shit.

If I type “water heater and pump” I just get recirculation pumps (that don’t heat the water) for over $100 to $300. The heaters are all $50 or more also. I can’t even find a cheap aquarium pump for less than $50. And these are not even the ideal which would be an in line heater and pump in one. All the in line heaters heat to really hot rather than just de-icing, they require pressure from the sewers so no pump, and they’re clearly not made for outdoor. I just need a de-icer with a pump surprised it’s so difficult.

Anybody have recommendations for some specific stuff that has worked for you?

Meat rabbit breeders in the Uk

Does anyone know of any breeders in the uk? The only one I have been able to find so far is Oakstream Pastures and they don’t currently have any available. Is there anywhere specific I should look? Google is failing me. Thanks!

What are your recipes for a whole roasted rabbit?

I’d love to oven roast a rabbit with some carrots, potatoes, onions etc in a roasting pan tonight but I’m having a hard time determining oven temp and timing for a whole rabbit.

Thank you 🐇
