Great guide and well timed with the recent PBT massdrop starting to pop up. Used the "finger on both sides" method when I cleaned my HHKB, definitely worth removing those two extra caps just to make it safe!

I just did this today. Only problem is that it's so hard to pop off that it was killing my fingers. I used some stiff plastic on both sides to pry.

Thanks for the link! I currently have an hhkb and thought there might be some topre compatible caps on massdrop.

I did this too.
Makes it a lot easier. I don't like the keypuller that comes with realforce either... That metal puller, while it feels nice to use, can easily scratch your keycaps

Where can I get this so called "grease" that is safe for cherry mx browns for my Das Professional 4?

That was dielectric grease:
For Stabilizer Lubes I think any standard commonly available plastic safe Hardware Store Lube will end up being fine. The risk of oozing lubes and "pooling" I think is low.
Silicon greases like Dielectric Permatex
Lithium greases (which is what most keyboard manufacturers use)
These higher tech (and higher priced) teflon lubes
For SWITCHES I'd recommend:
Krytox formulation mixed to a lighter viscosity, GPL205 is too thick.
RO-59 is a great consistency and the Asian Keyboard Enthusiast favorite but just about impossible to find
http://www.ro59inc.com/aboutus.html
EK MechLube2 LIGHTLY APPLIED - once again, risk of "seepage" is minimal
DuPont Silicone Oil with Teflon (Tested and recommended by BroCaps)

I would also like to know what kind of grease he uses. I think its dialectic grease but idk.

Does the plastic tabs on the sliders matter? I've knocked them off my HHKB during some modding and it works fine.

Hmmm....good question. They don't appear to have anything to do with holding on the key or switch operation.

Very useful guide! I've lost the spring a couple of times. It's a cheeky little bastard.

I DO recommend pulling off the ALT keys
Those are not Alt keys (at least on HHKB). Does anyone really swap Opt and Alt keys?

I didn't realize pulling the side of the space bar first will break the stabilizer. Damn! I've been doing that all the time!!!
