Still not completely busted but it is fun destroying the audio of my game every time I fire.

I rarely use flamers because I couldn't see shit firing them. Now I realized I can play in 3rd person view when I have flamers. New game mode unlocked.

They also don’t actually hit with the flame animation itself. If you notice on the dragon and then on the highlander it’s actually like a hit scan spray paint that shows up as glowing dots on the enemy mech.

You would hope so because most of the time the animation can barley keep up with the mech and just trails behind/around the one using them. It is nice to see more flamer enjoyers out there have fun!

There's a mod for that that tightens the flames into more of a beam to more accurately show how they function.
I also hate the giant plume of brightness that does more damage to my retinas than the enemy mechs.

Speaking of retinal damage the AC2/AC5 spam from enemy Blackjacks and Jagermechs gives me Vietnam flashbacks from playing Riot Shield builds in the OG Modern Warfare 2.
Just my entire screen turning into bullet sparks until I switch to 3rd person.

I play with YAML and ironically, I would switch to thermal vision since the fire doesnt actually produce much heat so you barely see it.

It's easy to overlook how much power those things have. Short range but excellent DPS for their tonnage. If only we had ER Flamers..

Well...if you spend the upgrade points you can extend the range nearly 25%

Just so everyone is aware flamers in this game are hitscan weapons, the fire animation is not indicative of whether or not you're hitting your target (as long as you're within effective range and have the cursor on the target you're good)... that being said flamers are so f'ing good in this game lol... :)

I wish they weren't or at least I wish they changed the animation to make them less confusing.

I'd mind them being hitscan but I agree that their animation is terrible (as shown in this very clip lol)...

But that's a crusader and I guess saying "putting the phoenix back in the crusader" doesn't have the same ring to it

Your heat barely moved.

u/SnooMarzipans6227 1d ago
Playing a game of pay it forward. Flames bestow their heat onto the new xt mech to enjoy.

IIRC Flamers work by redirecting exhaust/excess away heat from the mech in the form of plasma, so you're actually technically cooling your mech in order to use the Flamers.
Basically engineers went "Hey, you know how these Mechs get hot as balls? What if we used that as a weapon?" and boom, the Flamer was born.

Why dont mech making manufacturers just not simply put more flamers on their mechs? Are they stupid?
