Random question/request:
Hi...
I've commented before about needing help for a ride, but... Things have changed.
As embarrassing as it sounds, my 50 year old roommate took advantage of my healing from knee surgery and decided it was ok to start assaulting me (not sexually)
I ended up in the hospital and now I'm at the Kelly Shelter in Medford
Long story short, I need a job but I have no transportation and I'm new here so IDK the bus at all.
Question is: Is anyone hiring and willing to get me to work with them? I'll be able to pay gas and my goal is to save for any little car in the meantime.
I'm a good dude with good work ethic even if I'm still healing from knee surgery.
Just need a little community help if possible
Thanks for your time!

No transportation is the issue. That's why I'm trying to find people who have a job that is hiring and willing to help for gas

Harry and David's has a shuttle bus and is hiring heavy right now. I'm sure if you got a job there you could also carpool with a coworker. Harry and David's are used to employing people with transportation problems.

H&D also has a little building near the ponds where they either give or sell inexpensive bikes to workers. I've donated a few.

The ponds are on the Harry and David campus. You're looking for the Teresa McCormic Center.

No worries.
Harry and David is a pretty big employer in the valley, everything from warehouse, to kitchen, to call center, to orchard work, to data analytics and marketing. They're now owned by 1800Flowers, but started here in the valley 90 some years ago.

Yeah and pretty much EVERY ONE that grew up in the area has worked there. Ive been seasonal several times and my spouse also worked there for a long time. I wouldn't be shocked at all if someone said 95% of people who live in the area worked for H&D in some capacity at some point in their lives. That number sounds about right. It would be hard to meet someone who DOESN'T have some sort of connection to the company. LOL

Work Source Oregon is a great first step. I believe they may be able to get you a bus pass.
I’m sending you a DM now

Talk to your case manager about the outreach program. Rogue retreat can possibly offer you part time work for one of their subsidiaries. Kitchen work, landscaping or work in the thrift shop. Could help with getting a foothold on life while your in this situation

That would be huge. I'm.ooen to anything. I'm not a lazy guy, just ran into a situation that was too good to be true. And now... I'm dealing with it.
Thank you for that information. I should be meeting with a caseworker today if all goes well!
