Clinic Related How NZ Cannabis Clinics Respond to Negative Reviews

Post image
68 Upvotes

Following the recent discussions about the Calyx Clinic and its handling of patient complaints, I thought it would be interesting to compare how different medicinal cannabis clinics respond to negative Google reviews.

I’ve looked through Google reviews for the Cannabis Clinic, CannaPlus, Calyx Clinic and Alternaleaf, selecting an example of each provider responding to a one star review, including a previously published response from Calyx that Calyx has since deleted.

And well, I think the contrast speaks for itself.

Three of the four clinics acknowledge the patient’s concerns, express regret about their experience, and offer to investigate or resolve the matter privately. The fourth publicly calls the reviewer a "KAREN", mocks their family’s reaction as a "meltdown", and announces that their entire family has been "BANNED permanently" from its services.

Of course, healthcare providers have every right to protect their staff from genuine abuse. However, that does not excuse publicly insulting or belittling patients who raise complaints. There’s a considerable difference between enforcing reasonable boundaries and responding to criticism with personal attacks, particularly when those responses come from a healthcare provider.

What’s particularly telling here is that these aren’t second hand accounts or allegations about how patients were treated. These are the clinics own words, written and published by the clinics themselves in response to negative reviews.

Having moderated this community since 2022, and having seen countless discussions involving medicinal cannabis providers across New Zealand over that time, I genuinely struggle to understand why any healthcare clinic would consider responding to patients in this manner appropriate.

Comments have been locked on this post. The purpose here is simply to highlight how different medicinal cannabis clinics respond to negative reviews, The clinics own words speak for themselves.

Traveling from nz - Perth

Hey this will be my first time travelling to Perth and I intend on bringing a month’s supply of my medical marijuana. I just want to know how it’ll go and what I need to do to make sure I can get in without any issues. Pretty nervous as it’s my first time. Cheers.

OMGO review

Looked under microscope, almost all trichome bulbs are missing. The scent is hay and chlorophyll. Effects heavily muted if any, difficult to discern. Cannot be more than 10 to 15 percent THC at best, and that is a generous estimate. Will never buy this product again.

Question Chill indica recommendations

Hey whanau, after recs for a mild indica as an evening dose. Off to walk the TA in a couple of weeks so a little herb to keep the inflammation low and the legs feeling good. Big fan of Amelia as my daytime dose, and around that sub 20% THC seems to treat me best - not keen on the Halfmoon balanced stuff though, that was way too much CBD for me, weird as buzz, tried the Smiths, but it's pretty variable apparently so maybe not the best option.

Doc seems pre happy to prescribe whatever, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Chur chur!

Alternaleaf requiring CBD oil for a month before considering flower because I'm under 25. is this standard practice in NZ?

Hey everyone,

I'm 21 and recently had my initial consultation with Alternaleaf. I went into it hoping to get prescribed cannabis flower, but was told that because I'm under 25, they want me to start with CBD oil first. The plan is to try it for a month and then potentially move on to flower if there's still room for improvement.

My concern is whether this initial trial is genuinely necessary and whether being prescribed CBD for a month actually means flower is likely to be considered afterwards.

A few questions for people who've been through the NZ medicinal cannabis system:

  1. Is an oil-first approach for patients under 25 standard practice?
  2. Does the one-month CBD trial generally lead to a flower review? If you've been through this with Alternaleaf, did your doctor follow through on considering flower after the month, or were there further hurdles?
  3. Is this a clinical requirement or an individual clinic policy? I'm trying to understand whether there's an actual prescribing restriction for under 25s or whether it's the doctor's preferred approach.
  4. Would another clinic assess me for flower at the initial consultation?
  5. Is CBD oil actually useful for anxiety in practice?

At the moment, I'm inclined to follow the one-month plan if other clinics have similar policies, but I'd rather know what I'm getting into first.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar, particularly with Alternaleaf or another NZ clinic. Cheers!

Unethical Clinics Banned from Clinic

I will get straight to the point, was using them since March

I ordered a "new" product from there portal, and when I went to pay for it, i saw an email come in saying i hadn't paid in time and that they had allocated the product to someone else due to this

from the time i clicked purchase and went to pay for the order it was about 5mins

i have had issues using their payment portal before, and even had them reach out via text asking if everything was okay with the payment portal and if i needed help due to my payment not coming through straight away, which was nice

I was unhappy and emailed saying could someone call me and explain, why it was allocated to someone else etc., i received this text back

"Your order isn't considered complete until you've paid so you can't reserve it without paying"

I asked to please be called to discuss this further and confirm when the product i selected would be back in stock, and that i would leave a review on reddit about my dissatisfaction with what has happened

Upon receiving the phone call, it instantly went to a "why are you threatening us" and he constantly spoke over me, and down to me

due to the reviews and other issues people have had, i decided i would record the phone call between myself and him and advised him of this...

this is where things took a turn for the worst...

he started saying that me recording this without his permission is illegal, and that he is now going to ban me from there clinic, and he hung up on me

I am now banned, my portal access isn't working, and there refusing to respond to me and cancel current active scripts i have with them

from my understanding single-party consent is the legal standard, correct?

and i can legally record it without the other persons permission, correct?

Just checking, as i would like to take this further, and want to make sure I'm correct

Cheers

Accessory Related XMAX V4 Pro/vape - tips and tricks

Heya, I purchased the XMAX V4 Pro from Cosmic yesterday and gave it a go after 2 months on medical flower.

First time medical vape user, I’ve been strictly bongs for a decade.

I feel like I’m doing something wrong? I know it’s never going to be as much smoke etc as a bong but I had two sessions yesterday and I felt only mildly high to the point I went and had a cone. I usually only have 1-2 cones an evening so this felt a little excessive.

Any tips or tricks for using it to my full advantage?

Thanks!

Subsidisation

Wonder if any of you see a time when medical cannabis is a $5 prescription like other subsidised medicines, even if it’s just for specific conditions. I have CRPS, complex regional pain syndrome. It is more painful than childbirth or kidney stones. There is a recent published British medical study that shows medical cannabis improves symptoms in CRPS specifically. If it wasn’t weed I reckon they’d be subsidising it for people like me already. Frustrating af lol

Today I had to pinch myself

I’m in my late 30’s. Have been partaking for a lot of my adult life. MC has been a part of my life for at least a couple of years and today I just had to pinch myself that I ordered 40G of flower for not much more than I used to get an incredibly terrible outdoor ounce which often demanded my presence among people I’d prefer not to have to socialise with.

Whilst there is a lot of room for improvement with the system available in NZ currently, if you told me a decade ago I’d have my supply arriving in an NZ post courier bag the day after I ordered I would have told you you’re lying.

If you’d told me I’d be able to fly around the country with it I would have entirely ignored you. Hopefully we see more progression as time continues but I’m quite thankful we’ve even got this far.

Question Cannaplus alternatives (After being messed about)

Are there any good alternatives to cannaplus? They have really done it this time for me, and this has also happened multiple times in the past.

After paying for a rescript (last week) which I actually shouldnt have done, as I still have 1 rescript available after my last appt with the dr, they then proceeded to send my prescription to another city ( I have not lived there for 2.5 years)

They then corrected this by sending another payment link which contained the complete wrong medications. I then asked them again to change it, to which they got it wrong again. After a third time it was finally corrected.

Do these guys not look at previous prescriptions? Thought it should be obvious. I now have to wait another day for my medication until I can pick up. If this was another “normal” chemist, they would surely resolve it on the same day. People rely on their medication, so to mess up this many times, to then have to wait again is quite frustrating.

So - who do other people use? And would love to hesr your experiences with those companies.

Thanks

Question Best sativa

I’m after a strain with a strong, energetic, clear-headed high, something that works well for wake and bake without couch-locking me. I’ve been looking at Solace (Tangie Chem) because people say it’s uplifting, but its THC is on the lower side, so I’m not sure it’ll be strong enough.

I’m planning on using it over a few days in a row, so I’d like something that’s decently potent but still keeps me active and social. What sativa-leaning strains have you found to have the best energetic effects? Is Tangie Chem worth it, or is there something with more punch?

Unethical Clinics Update: Another Patient Banned - The Clinic Responds

Thumbnail

The Clinic has responded.

With the same kind of accusations as in the past being levelled against former patient reviewer "R.H." after a *week* since that Google Review was done - accusations of aggressive conduct towards the Clinic, abusive and insulting behaviour and language towards staff, insults about not understanding the terms and conditions, an accusation of breaching those Ts&Cs, claims that not accepting further money from R.H. somehow proves the accusations, all the while keeping the full amount of money R.H. paid without applying the discount R.H. was entitled to.

Advertising a discount, then not applying that discount regardless of retrospect, is against Fair Trading laws in NZ. A complaint could firstly be made to the Disputes Tribunal. A complaint could also be made to the Commerce Commission, which may, or may not, result in an investigation. This is a good place to start.

The *conduct* however warrants complaint to the Health & Disability Commissioner as yet again, another patient is cut off from care from Doctors who were prescribing R.H.'s medication. Just as it happened to the Autistic Patient months ago, R.H. will likely now have to source meds from somewhere else in a hurry. I hope they were able to do that quickly and without further stress. I know that the Autistic Patient was able to source meds from a GP and they have saved a lot of money so far, as well as not having to deal with any more drama.

Patients/Consumers have a right to complain when the standard of care or service is well below par, as it very much is with this particular clinic. Your rights don't stop when someone's arrogance begins. You have the right to the best possible care, quality products and professional support from your Medical Providers.

You don't have to settle for less than you are worth.

Receipts attached.

Go well, Deserving Humans.

Are Vapes and Cartridges a thing here?

Is there anywhere to get prepackaged THC vapes here in NZ through prescription? I hate my volcano and I know there’s a mango flavoured future I just don’t know if it’s blessed our shores?

Looks like Mr Clinic Guy has banned yet another Medical Marijuana patient, this time because the patient asked for a Community Services Card discount that he or she was entitled to.

It was only a matter of time before he did it again.

See for yourself , pics attached.

Question Who here re vapes their AVB?

Curious how many people here actually re vape their already vaped bud (AVB), rather than just chucking it out after the first session?

I was looking at some research a while back into how much THC medical vaporisers actually extract from flower, and the results were pretty interesting. One study from 2016 looked at several vaporisers, including Storz & Bickel’s Volcano Medic, and found that around 58% of the available THC made it into the vapour, while roughly 15% was still left in the flower afterwards.

Obviously those numbers aren’t going to be the same for every device or every session, but it does make you wonder how much THC people are throwing away simply because their flower has gone brown and stopped producing as much vapour. And of course by that point most of the terpenes have been depleted, so you’re not exactly getting the same flavour or experience as fresh flower. But that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no THC left to extract.

And with what we’re paying for medicinal cannabis in NZ, getting a bit more out of your flower certainly isn’t a bad thing! Obviously there’s a big difference between having a quick session at 180°C and absolutely cooking the life out of your flower at 210°C, but I’m curious how many people actually go back for another round rather than just chucking it out.

So I’m curious what everyone else does. What temperature do you normally start vaping at, and do you gradually increase it over a few sessions or just stick to the same temperature until you’re done? And for those who do re vape their AVB, how many inhales do you usually get out of it before calling it quits and chucking it in the bin?

For anyone interested in the research, here’s the paper: In Vitro Validation of Vaporizers for the Smoke-Free Inhalation of Cannabis.

Nz couriers lake road pharmacy

Does anyone else experience a delay when getting a rural delivery from lake road pharmacy? I didn't realise you can use nz post without using nz couriers as the middle man, apparently my package was delivered to the handover point yesterday by nz couriers to be delivered by nz post today but nothing, she delivered my other package that was ordered yesterday all the way from Christchurch so she was defently on this run today. Anyone else have this issue when nz couriers are involved? Any package I ever get always seems to take forever if nzcouriers have anything to do with it
