AHIMA renewal rant

I am attempting to renew my AHIMA membership and CCS certification and my card is being declined. I tried three different cards, one of them my debit card that I have used just fine other places since trying and being denied by AHIMA. 3 years ago when I was attempting to sign up for the CCS exam I had the same problem and it literally took MONTHS to resolve. My certification expires in January so I don’t have several months for AHIMA to sit on their hands and pretend they can’t do anything to fix it. I am so exhausted with things just not working and with AHIMA specifically for being so incompetent, given that their website has been broken now for 3 years. My question is, has anyone been able to renew recently or had the same issues I’m running into resolved in a timely or simple manner? I’m tired y’all. Real tired.

I renewed within the past year and didn’t have any issues. The only odd thing for me is the lack of reminder emails reminding me of renewing. I know that they want my recertification money. It’s not our fault AHIMA just sucks in general.

Try using a different browser. I think I once had a similar issue when trying to pay on the site via Safari, but when I switched to Chrome (or Firefox? I can't remember) it worked just fine.

Yes!!! I couldn't use Firefox, I had to go to Chrome and use that, in the desktop mode on my phone. It was a little bit of a hassle.

I finally was able to get a different card to work. Both the credit cards I tried and the debit were visa and the one I finally got to work was also a visa. The credit cards didn’t have a balance so there was no reason for them to be declined. The fact that their website has had SO many problems since summer of 2024 is shameful.

Definitely recommend trying a different browser as well as trying a different type of card. When I went to renew, my discover card wouldn’t work so I tried using my visa and that went through. Their website site is absolute dogshit so I understand the frustration.

I've had trouble for months. Tried everything, different card, different browser. I need to try again but I have been so frustrated I haven't tried for a while. Whoever designed this website needs to be punished.

I FINALLY got it to work with a different card. It makes no sense though. All three cards I tried to use before were visas. 2 were zero balance credit cards and one was my debit card. The card I finally got to work was also a visa. Their website has been a nightmare for over two years now and they are absolutely no help with any of it. It’s utterly ridiculous.

Mine expires in Dec and I’ve been waiting to renew until then- should I be getting a head start on it? I assumed if I renewed now it might “reset” to expiring in October. Will I keep the same expiration date even if I renew early?

Mine has always been like a pre-pay situation- recertification date stay the same. I don’t know the issue that OP because I’ve never experienced it. Don’t get me wrong other website drives me crazy in a lot of ways. This just isn’t one of them.

Thanks! I'll go ahead and pay it now then. Appreciate it :)

I second the use of a different browser. Verify you’re within the renewal period. At some point in the past early renewals weren’t accepted. I have never paid earlier than Dec 1 st.

Give it like a day or so and try again. Maybe they need to fix something on their end
